Consumer advocate Clark Howard will tell you competition is always good for the consumer.

Gary Stern's cunning plan of "less game for more money" is going to come to a screeching halt. With AP's parent company's resources and backing, they have the means to give GS nightmares. The JPop debacle was a bump in the road is all, he lied to them to make MG happen and keep his ass out of prison for the time being. If anything they are to be commended for following through to the degree they did.

I thought the original Houdini design looked great overall, kind of sad to hear they had to start over from scratch but I'm looking forward to seeing what they have come up with!

Quoted from CrazyLevi:

"Competition" is the main reason prices on new games have risen 50-150 percent in 5 years. Has that been good for consumers? It's been the source of endless complaint threads here.

Except that wasn't just competition, it was supply expanding to meet increasing demand with its concomitant spiraling pricing from the shortage.

I'm saying if AP presents a full-featured LE-level pin for a Pro price it will force Stern to up their game instead of their prices.

I had forgotten them saying $7Kish, I agree that end of the market is ready overcrowded.

Quoted from chadderack:

It's a mild insult and it's not specific to pinball. Usually it means you're terrible at something.

More specifically, a stink is a bad smell, so by extension telling someone they stink is saying they are bad at what they are doing. (Or it could mean they actually smell bad!)

One of those fun English words that can be a noun or a verb.

Quoted from Ericpinballfan:

Updates...we all love updates.
Weve heard shipping by Nov...
But when is full production line up and running and how many a week get made?
Fun details.
Thanks

Houdini didn't believe in psychics and neither should you!

Maybe I'm touchy because my surname starts with a Q, but it's Ouija, not Quija.

Oui (French for yes) + ja (German for yes)

It would be easy, fun even, to program the curtains to swing naturally as they open or close. Just start with the top only moving, then a little more with the next iteration, etc. Then play with the step sizes until it looks realistic. It will be worth the effort.

Quoted from rosh:

in most cases, there is a quite a bit of movement within the curtain

Guess I should have looked closer for myself, I thought it sounded static. Probably hard to look super realistic when it has to whip open and closed quickly so as to not hold things up!

An "amateur" pinball company would be one making games for free! (i.e. unpaid)

Where do I sign up for a game from one of those? TAKE MY MONEY!!!!!1! Er, wait...

Try: novice, newcomer, fledgling, neophyte, startup, freshman, rookie, newbie, greenhorn
