Quoted from brenna98:This part isnβt correct.
The knocker is connected to the add-on board.
Your magnets are connected to the PD-16 coil driver board.
They where two separate issues.
Not one causing both.
I have made our electrical engineer aware of the knocker wiring issue and heβs checking these kits so theyβre correct going forward.
Actually there was no issue with the game until i hooked up the kit, i 100% know theyβre related. This is a houdini thread so we should just let others know and correct the issue. Im actully a big fan of amercans games, and i was the one that gave the push to my friend to buy both Houdini and oktoberfest.
Quoted from 27dnast:Is there a knocker test in the menu system of Houdini or Oktoberfest?
Yes, you have to go to settings first and make the knocker mechanical. Then you can test in cabinet
Quoted from rosh:Look in 'Tests -> Cabinet'
Btw, Im not bashing American. But we ahould let others know that before this kit is installed.
Im still a big supporter of your games
Quoted from pinballinreno:What specific wiring problem did you have?
Ive installed my kit per the instructions.
It was simple enough.
Is this something i should be aware of?
The harness on the knocker had the black and brown wires reversed. It was sent from the factory that way, very small issue, but after we plugged it in, the left magnet locked on and it ruined the magnet, and the TRANSISTOR that drives the magnet. Its just a simple mistake. So others should just check with tech support to make sure everything you received is correct.
Quoted from pinballinreno:Ah, i see.
I checked my kit and it's wired correctly.
Must have been a few wrong ones earlier.
Im glad they sorted it out.
Itβs actually the more recent ones, the latest Houdini games were manufactured with a different power supply, and there were no current instructions with the kit. I dont think its the end of the world, and both Houdini and Oktoberfest have been Rock solid, well built and reliable. Also Dave at tech support was very friendly and accommodating. I have no issue buying and supporting Americans product as i always have and will continue to do so. I feel this is where manufacturers always fail, this problem occurred, this is a houdini thread and i feel its the appropriate place to discuss it.
So, if anyone bought a Houdini recently, be sure to check with tech support before installation of a knocker in houdini
