Every pin can get repetitive if you play it enough. Not really a big deal in my mind. I’m sure they will tweak things as the software develops. Maybe add new call outs etc...I’m excited to see what the new code brings to the table.

Quick question...Just installed a shaker today and the cover they (AP) sent me is about 3/4 of an inch to wide. I cannot secure it (cover) Berry from tech told me to squeeze it in there. I tried, but it would surely break. Anyone else install one and run into this issue? I would have to pry off the coin box guide on the left to get it to work. Don't really want to do that. Not a huge issue, just want to understand what the proper cover measures? This one measures 4 and 3/4 wide.
Quoted from rosh:Unfortunately the one we were using we can no longer use due to a competitor …
Was the flange trimmed down on the sides? If so, it should squeeze in without breaking
No, but I will do that and squeeze it in there. Just didn't want to try and force without knowing the full story. Thanks all for the help
Tips on updating game code....I’ve updated Sterns and JJP pins in the past. Getting ready to update Houdini for the first time. Wondering what to expect? Per the website I will power on and insert usb. Any quirks I should be aware of?
Thanks I’m advance
Quoted from Rdoyle1978:rosh Who is the "Ryan C." who is crossed out on the credits?
I was wondering this as well...Hmmmm? Hope it's not a bad story.
Quoted from mcbPalisade:I am disappointed with what AP has done so far and hope they do better in the future. Houdini is nice in some ways and a failure in others.
This is a time where no one or no thing is held accountable. I guess we're supposed to ignore negative things nowadays.
Good god dude. Just go elsewhere.
All pretty normal..You have a steel ball rolling around wood and into plastic. If you play the games you will see ball tracks and scuff marks etc. When I first got into pinball I treated them like museum pieces and wiped them down with diapers on a weekly basis. Then I realized these things are designed to be played and enjoyed. Worrying about perfection with pins will drive you crazy. Don't worry about the protectors as others have mentioned. They can be a huge challenge just to install. Quite honestly in a home use environment they aren't all that big of a necessity.
Also you really need a nice open ended wrench to tighten down the flippers. Adjustable wrenches aren't great for really wrenching down. The tend to slip a lot. Don't be afraid to tighten them down but good. You won't break it and it will save you having to lift the PF again and again. Welcome to the addiction and go enjoy your game.
I’ve had the machine lose track of the ball on multiple occasions thus far. Usually it’s when a lot is going on. Sometimes it will trigger a drain when the ball is in play. Sometimes I’ll get two balls going when I shouldn’t. I know for a fact all my optos and switches are working just fine. I end up doing a machine reboot and it seems to do the trick. Not sure what to make of it if a reboot doesn’t correct it and the switch tests out fine? I was really hoping for a code drop that would address these issues/bugs sooner rather then later. Fingers crossed
I put them in a tabletop gum ball machine. Looks pretty cool when you get a bunch in there. It’s a nice game room piece.
Quoted from pinballinreno:Install the cliffy.
Its not a big deal. But yields excellent results
Depends....In a home use only setting they are not needed generally speaking. Also, in some cases it makes the shot more difficult to hit. Noticed a lot tighter shot on my Creature scoop with a cliffy vs without as an example. Ended up removing it and am happy as the shot is way more consistent. Installing some of them can be super difficult with a ton of stuff to remove. Now in the wild I would for sure install the protectors no question. It's all about the number of plays without doubt. It's unfortunate that we have a steel ball on wood and plastic. Eventually steel wins no matter what you do.
