Congrats to everyone at AP for a hell of an accomplishment. Best wishes for your continued achievement and success.

I am amazed at the journey of AP and Houdini. The access and willingness for them to answer questions is a huge confidence builder. I'm really excited to see where it goes from here and when the dust settles some I plan on picking one up.

Not to derail a terrific topic about a great pinball machine, but if you stumble upon the "interview" with Deep root that is referenced above, you will walk away with a good idea of the types of people involved there. It reminds me a lot of playground confidence, bombast, bragging and promises with little substance to back it up.

"Birds of a feather" are doing what they tend to do.

Sent my deposit. I am hoping things are moving along down at AP.

I love Houdini. I ordered one and I am getting VERY close to payment time and the commitment that comes with it. I have played 7 or so machines in the wild, from GAP in Chicago to Padavans in STL, Texas Pinball Festival etc. I am noticing some inconsistency with the right scoop, specifically, where it kicks the ball out to.

Mike's machine up at GAP was kicking the ball dead nuts SDTM. At the time, he assured me it was a issue with a coding update that reverted to an old set. I have talked to him since and he confirmed that was the case.

All the machines I have played since have kickers that send the ball to the top of the slingshot. I noticed it on every single Houdini kickout tonight at TPF. I don't know if this is a consequence of the quick development timeline, misadjusted solenoid power, or a misadjusted kickout etc. For those of you that have one, are you noticing this?

Thanks for the response. I'd love to hear Josh's thoughts on this at some point if possible. He is the last word.

I know everyone is not into mods, but I thought this was kind of cool and didn't know anywhere else that would appreciate it.

I had an extra Eddie figure from Iron Maiden and decided to re-purpose his torso for my new-to-me Houdini playfield. I need to find some sort of small stand to mount it on but I am planning on putting it on the next flat surface behind the milk can. I snapped a photo post operation with the coping saw. Lol.

Quoted from PhantomO:

Always into this kind of creativity. Depending on how thick your figure is from front to back, you might also mount it on the horizontal plastic to the right of the trunk. The upper catapult that throws the ball into the right wireform easily clears an object pushed up snug against the backboard. I have a straightjacket torso velcroed there. It doesnt get hit or trap the ball. BTW, if you are looking for an iron maiden topper, check out all the Eddie masks offered by Trick or Treat Studios. https://www.trickortreatstudios.com/licensed-designs/iron-maiden.html

Terrific idea! That is an even better spot than what I was considering.

Thanks for the mask link. Those are incredible.

Quoted from PhantomO:

Please post a pic of your mod when finished.

Here it is. Good news, bad news scenario.

Good news; It fits perfect. Ball travel is uninterrupted after multiple plays. My home made stand puts it at a perfect level. The price was right (free, as I already had the Eddie figure in which I sourced it).

Bad news; It is not authentic looking. It has stains on it from the Eddie theme that are more fitting of a insane asylum member than a grand illusionist and entertainer. Ithe best part of the jacket is the back, as that's where the details are (buckles, straps). It doesn't look as good facing backwards.

Ymmv but I am super particular about this sort of thing. It is tough to justify not going all in when you spend the money we are on these machines. I like the looks of the hooked on pinball one. May have to give it a shot.

Photos below. I also posted a off subject wide shot of my machine in its spot. Lovin it.

Quoted from Tuna_Delight:

Good and bad re: the straightjacket aside, it still adds to the game.
I like the Houdini "spot" you've created! Between the posters and topper, it looks much better than my game does just jammed between two others.

Thanks Tuna. Truth be told this happened out of necessity. I probably have exactly one more game than I should and this is in a different spot than the rest of the machines. It had to be.

Pinball shouldn't spark therapy or interventions... But I have a funny feeling.

Quoted from finnflash:

Did you get your machine from Larry here in st.louis?

No. It was a very recent purchase in Chicago so it's an "import". Lol.

Although I suppose they all are if you look at it that way.
