@rosh, I have a wish list item. It's not a big deal but maybe nice to have. Please consider adding an option to flash the planchette lamp before a seance ball kickout. There is no warning that it is about to happen (on my game at least). I don't mind the element of surprise but family members that are casual players usually drain because they just don't know it's coming. I think ball save may be active but a quick heads-up in that direction would give them a fair chance. Thanks.

Can someone post a clear photo of the knocker and its connector installed in their game, please. I need a visual reference to verify my harness. And does the knocker coil have a diode in the connector or not? The photo of the knocker assembly in the API web store has no diode, but the photos in the install doc have a diode crimped in the connector. Which is correct? And why are the install photos in the PDF so small and low res? Thanks for the help.

My right flipper return spring broke again so instead of bending a new loop—third time—I replaced the spring with one I have from a Bally/Williams rebuild kit. The replacement is a much stiffer spring and now the right flipper feels mushy so that will not do. I’ll buy new springs. But I am surprised because I thought that Houdini uses B/W flipper mechs. Am I wrong?

Quoted from bobukcat:

the 5VDC is dead so the P3-Roc board is incommunicado

I just had something similar happen but in my case I found a bulging capacitor on the 5V output. Replacing the off-brand cap with a decent part from a quality supplier was easy enough. I also touched up a few sad looking (cold) solder joints. The Overall build quality of Houdini is quite good. But the original power supply has been less than impressive.

Yes, IF the game is from an earlier run and needs upgrades, the EOS switches are cheap and easy to install. The power supply upgrade requires a little more effort to install, but it’s not too difficult—depending on your skill set. IF the game needs a power supply upgrade then it probably also needs the coil capacitor. That is also easy to install.

I had an early game and it played mostly fine without the upgrades. Others had issues. Play the game and see how it goes. I eventually did the upgrades and it was rock solid. I sold it because we moved. I miss it, fun game.
