Unfortunately a Houdini got dropped and smashed by freight Co in shipping to a customer. Cabinet destroyed but the game played, except that the right flipper button was out. Pics are of the game being unboxed at AP. Joe Balcer was amazed at the impact and damage this machine took and it booted right up.

Wow. That thing took a hit.

LTG : )

#4 5 years ago

Takes a licking-keeps on ticking!

#5 5 years ago

Dang, how did the top get all smashed up. Did it get flipped head over heels?

#6 5 years ago

Wow,thats crazy!

#7 5 years ago

Ohhh Man!!! Good Lord,It took a very bad hit especially NIB.

#8 5 years ago

I just want one freight/shipping co to be a pinball owner. Then we get a company that gets the term, "Be careful" of my NIB !
Curious, did the backglass break?

Won't matter unless it's such a small company that every single handler, lift driver, etc. are also pinball owners / lovers. I've been in hundreds, if not thousands of Distribution Centers, Warehouses, cross-docks, container ports, etc. and have seen some crazy, crazy shit. I learned to keep my head on a swivel, to be alert at all times and never, ever trust that they can see you or know what they are doing.

Glass did not break. Thank goodness.

Yeah,That would have been a real mess

Agreed. Ive been to two of my local stations to avoid that last truck to my house. Saw EM's on legs with broken heads and front legs pulled out. A 3 million dollar Siemens mri machine in pieces. Motor cycle on pallett, laying down cause they thought that was better. Why I avoid shipping at all costs.
I was nervous waiting all day for my Houdini, thankfully he escaped cleanly.

Guess the "do not drop " printed wasn't big enough! Or movers can't read!

#14 5 years ago

Always amazed at how smashed up some of the boxes are thru various shippers at my office. I think they could smash/damage a brick if given the opportunity.

Hats off to the makers of the pin -- that's quality!

When (SOME) people see that they purposely do the exact opposite.

#16 5 years ago

Pretty sad to see that,But on the brighter side i played this game at Marvins i really enjoyed it and gave me the Williams/Bally feel.Really nice game!!

#17 5 years ago

damn that thing took a hit. either something got dropped on it or it fell off truck or dock and it landed on the top.

#18 5 years ago

No wonder shipping is outrageous, you and I end up paying for the things the shit heads break while "doing their job."

#19 5 years ago

How much for the salvage?

#20 5 years ago

I wonder how many problems will pop in the future due to this thing being smashed?

Reminds me of an IM that sold on ebay as salvage for $3300 years ago.

What kind of magic trick is this supposed to be?
Houdini will now jump out of the back of a moving truck.

#23 5 years ago

Game #99 will live in infamy.
Feel bad for buyer who had to refuse shipment.
Amazing either glass didnt break.

Really is a testimonial of how AP uses quality product to build their games! When mine arrived I was impressed! Built like a tank!
Still feel that it's a great value for the money!

Claim has already been filed. Freight co needs to send over inspector. Game is at AP and they are looking over game to determine where to go from here. Its in good hands and no way will we send a game out that has one issue!

I cant speak for AP personally. But im pretty sure this game will not be fixed and sold. Fixed yes, but going back out, no way.
They have a couple demo games for testing, learning, and teaching. I see this becoming one of those to help develope future games. AP dedication to this title and company is second to none in the industry at this point. Im a huge JJP fan, but i keep seeing AP step it up a notch every step of the way. Pinside doesnt see a lot, but behind the scenes there commitment to a quality product is amazing.

This thread could only turn funny if Mike admitted HE was the one that dropped the game off his truck! lolol Doubtful as he doesn't start drinking till noon on most days! I realize this isn't a #GAP thread per say but I must promote if Anyone hasn't been to his shop lately he has Drastically raised the bar with new products, parts, great deals, and the same do anything for you service. Not many brick and mortar Pinball shops around where you can shop or just shoot the Sh1t with a great pinball owner and enthusiast.
