Quoted from BenetBoy78:

Bizzarre Guitar in Phoenix Arizona sold me an American Standard Stratocaster brand new back in 1994 for around $800. I never could play it well, but I had a newborn boy in 2002 and just 12 years later the little goober grabbed it and played Jimi Hendrix Red House with the highly recommended worldwide School of Rock program...

Life is good...kids, music and pinball make it so....

Your kid is awesome. So cool to see. Next time you record video, turn the phone horizontal.

Has anyone ever seen a closeout deal like this on a Gibson les paul? I'd really like a good excuse to buy one.

#206 7 years ago

that's what i'd like. i see a few places have a blemished version for about 2k. i'm not sure i'd buy sight unseen.

How about a Fender Standard Stratocaster for $363 free shipping?
amazon.com link »
These are "on sale" right now at GC for $699 + tax, so that's a really nice savings if the wife still has not bought you anything, or you have a ton of Amazon gift cards to use up.

I think the 363$ price is gone. It's at $599 now. I just checked to see if it was American for that price. It's not.

Quoted from vid1900:

It was one of those 24hr specials.
If it ever comes back, I'll post it again.

An American neck alone is more than $363 .
People would be buying them just to part out on ebay.
The Mex Stratocasters have all interchangeable parts with the USA models, so you can swap stuff around. If it gets stolen at a gig, you are not going to cry about $360 bucks like you would if your $1400 USA got ripped.

I've already got an American deluxe. I'm really looking for a deal I can't pass up on a les Paul or prs. I suck at guitar so I really have no need for another one.
I did buy that tuner you posted, so thanks for that.

May I temp you to leave your comfort zone for this?

$529 free shipping --- Big, sexy Gretsch tones with a real Bigsby tremolo, Filtertron pickups, Treble bleed, and more curves than a pornstar.

maybe if i could play as good as the guy in the video. i don't think the guitar can do that for me.
It sounds awesome though.

Quoted from vid1900:

Looks like people love it: "I love this chord, the quality is great"
How long is it?

Someone posted it's about three feet. Seems short to me.
There are too many cords to choose from on Amazon and way too much info to read on each one. Maybe I'll check what they sell on musician friend and just buy one. I've already spent too much time reading about a ten dollar cord.

Quoted from Wolfmarsh:

And it has that ugly red "supreme" logo right in the middle. Tacky.

I thought that was just for this photo shoot, to show it's a new strat. You think it's going to be permanently on every one? That's horrible.

Quoted from vid1900:

I saw that Gibson's last 5 year financials have been posted.
Pretty grim for a company that used to be an **American institution **:

Those numbers are incredibly low. I can't believe how low the revenue is.
So where are the closeouts?

Quoted from rotordave:

I see the Gibson forums are as much fun as the pinball forums
I got the Sam Ash email today, there is a deal on a blue Les Paul. Not my cup o tea, but looks like a sweet deal.
50% off. Now $1399.

I just saw this thread. Looks like the sale is over.

any recommendations for a not too expensive multi effects pedal?
something easy to use with many loaded effects? Line 6 M5 StompBox Modeler? Zoom G3X?

Any new deals too good to pass up?

Why? Is that cash burning a hole in your pocket?

Of course!
These NIB pin prices are getting so outrageous it makes guitar buying seem inexpensive.

Quoted from Hougie:

Who knows? It looks like 370 were made. Only a few were released in 1969 and my serial # is 8898xx. That would put it as one of the earliest according to this site: http://www.latesixtieslespauls.com/article_lowimp.asp
Apparently, even the case is rare.

Did you ever get this appraised?
