For a guy who doesn't have a pin yet (currently saving for one) would it be smarter to buy brand new rather than used?

I know many people will say not a good first pin, but have my heart set on GB pro.

Maybe a touchy subject, and apologies for going off topic, should I stay away from purchasing a pin off ebay?
