Hello everyone!

I am planning to clean an ASM playfield in preparation of some kind playfield protector. I purchased one for my Data East TMNT over a year ago and love the look! I've been sending emails to Frank at Playfield Protectors regarding any new protectors for ASM but he has not responded. With that hint taken, I have decided to get a plastic cutting company to look into cost of making a simar PET-G 0.02" thick protector. I would need to provide the company with a sketch for cutting purposes. My main reason for posting on this subject is to see if other owners have developed a protector for their games, similar to playfield protectors. I really like the quality of their product but the non reply has gotten me looking elsewhere. Besides, they may never end up making a protector for ASM.

I appreciate your feedback and look forward to hearing all of your experiences in preserving playfields, especially ASM.

Thanks!

MT45, that's what I'm talking about

MT45,

I don't know how you made yours look so good. I'm struggling. I hope the end product looks good. My biggest concern was not having enough space from posts to allow floating. I'm planning to anchor at the two posts near the 3 pop out holes (top left playfield). I read through your post but can't remember what I read concerning edges. Can I file the edges to smooth out burrs or other inconsistencies?

Thanks for your help!

Thanks srcdude. That is good information. Sometimes I just need another set of eyes.

MT45, you are a life saver! Excellent tips! I can't wait to use my snips. I'll have to post my results once I get through the first stage.

Thank you!!!

Getting closer thanks to MT45. The snips were key to speeding the process. Once I get all the drop targets replaced (3 of 8 done so far), I'll get this on the playfield to check for overall fit.

Lots of trimming around outer edges is needed to get a better fit. Making progress.

All drop targets replaced.

KHL, that doesn't surprise me on these older machines. My data east tmnt is a different story. It still looks great after 1.5 years with regular play. I guess we'll see how it goes over the next year.

MT45, I'm very happy with the end product. Thank you for your help!

Playfield Protectors now has an ASM protector. If only I had waited a few months. At least I learned some new skills and saved a bit of money in the process.
