When looking at for sale pics of games, it is very hard to look at the condition of the playfield when the game is on and GI/insert lights are on. The pictures are totally washed out, with bright lights and the playfield surface is dark and hard to see if there is any wear, planking, missing paint, etc. I like pics of the playfield with the game off and the playfield lit by an external overhead light.

I agree. Much better to see detailed condition of playfield and the only way to check for insert ghosting.

No, you are not the only one. I specifically ask for machine unplugged, machine lights off and house lights on. Lights can be fixed easy enough.

Agreed. I try to do both on and off pics in my ads.

You can hide a lot of flaws with the lights on.

    Wow, seriously?

Pretty sure he meant to say lights on the playfield or with the game on.

OK, then...I took off my downvote.

I want to see both. Definitely would need to see the playfield with the machine off and lights on in the room.

My other pet peeve is out of focus playfield photos with the glass on. Seen quite a few of these recently in the marketplace. Please take the glass off when you take photos and only post in focus pictures.

I've never bought a game without looking at it in person, but could see how the game lights would cause you to miss some defects or wear.
especially in the age of blinding LEDs.
