When data East (stern) was ripping off every single Williams feature and layout in the early 1990s it was pretty laughable.

No point in doing that today. Stern has carved a nice little niche for themselves as the only manufacturer making affordable, kickass, full-featured pins, with games that have their own style.

You want gimmick laden “innovative” pins that don’t play well? There’s a new company every year making those available these days too.

    Quoted from woody24:

I'll agree. Sometimes I wonder how games would do then vs. now if they came out at the exact same time. I love how there's a lot of great 90's games are $2000-$2500. If those games were made today, they'd be in the $5-$6000k range.

If those games came out today at that price, can you imagine the outrage over the rudimentary code with almost zero of the precious "depth and breadth" pinside has come to love since Stern started redefining what pinball code should be in 2003 or so?

"Sure, the Thing Hand is neat. But WHERE'S THE CODE?!"

"Jiggly martians are a nice distraction, but there's like 5 things to do in this game. Are they really gonna just leave the code like that while they count our money?!"

"Yeah W/B fanboys, enjoy your spinning trunk while I'm playing a game with ACTUAL CODE."

    You get the picture.

    Quoted from Allibaster:

I was referring to Levi's claim that there would be outrage over rudimentary code at today's prices. TNA is a good example that that's not the case. People are tripping all over each other to pay $6k (and even more) for a game with basic code.

The whole concept of TNA is throwback.

If Stern started putting out games like Iron Maiden except with TNA-style code there'd be a shitstorm!

Also it's not really a claim, more of a hypothetical.
