Sorry - maybe I'm just an idiot... but upon inspecting my Pinball machine, I see 4 slots for ICs, and only 3 are populated. The unit seems to play great and never shuts up, so I can't imagine what is missing, or that it would function as normal with a chip missing, but I do see in my manual that Rollercoaster Tycoon has Sound, Game ROM, Voice 1, Voice 2, Voice 3, VOICE 4, and Display. Mine clearly does not have Voice 4 installed.

Any idea why someone might have removed it if it was supposed to be there? Also, wouldn't I get some sort of error message if the chip wasn't found but the sounds / voices were called by the program?

Thank you for your thoughts on this and recommendations on how I should proceed (or not...)

Ok never mind. It looks like reading the small print that some of these only use 3 chips, and that there will be a jumper on W6 for the units that use only 3 voice ROMs. I'll look for that, but I'm sure that's what it is.

Sorry for the false alarm... I'm learning here and generally find it in the manual BEFORE I post

Thanks fiberdude - I didn't think about that. I guess I'm ok then (once I get this damned Opto issue resolved.)
