I have a GB Pro that I really like but I've been kicking around the idea of trying to trade it for a Ghostbusters LE. It the LE worth the extra cash? Would anyone with an LE want to downgrade to a Pro?

No,I disagree!! The LE is nice, but the Pre is a better deal! Thing is,how much cash??How old is the LE?? Has it needed any upgrades?Old LEs may have PF issues if its a older issue! And ,sure,if a operator has a LE,and wants to put a Pro out on route,I say no more than $ 1500,if not heavily modded!! IMHO,I own a Pre!
Totally agree with going w/ a premium. Better artwork IMO and all the features of the LE. If you like the pro you'll love the premium.
Quoted from iceman44:Not crazy, premium/LE MUCH better.
Right ramp on pro is F ed up. GB was made for the premium/LE
I oddly think the right ramp on the pro is nifty.
Having said that, a Premium sits in my basement. The Pro I found just okay, the Premium I was absolutely floored by.
If I may make a suggestion though, really try to find someone around you and try the Premium for a while. Some people HATE the Magna-Slings. For me, those are 90% of why I think the Premium is worth the upgrade. If you trade and hate them, you'll wish you hadn't.
Oh, and I think the LE looks just goofy. I'm a HUGE Ghostbusters nerd, but the over-focus on Slimer is just too much for me. The other two art packages I think are perfect.
Another vote for the Premium. I've put plenty of time on both versions, and it's not even close. I originally pre-ordered a Pro and wound up upgrading. The right ramp (be sure to sub in a slightly shorter hex spacer), magna slings, subway lock, and ecto goggles add a lot of fun that the Pro simply lacks.
God premium+ is much better than the pro, Talk aboot not even close.
That half ramp wouldn't be bad if there were 2 others but no thanks.
GB premium / LE is loaded with features that justifies the price. I wish I could say the same for Star Wars. But I'll get the higher model anyway because I am dumb.
I upgraded from the pro, one of the few sterns that the prem/le offers lots of cool extras. Id do it again.
I'd say if you invested a lot of grime playing it so far I'd stick with the pro. It's a better shooter
I'd go premium If I was you. you can still get them NIB with all the updates (vision protectors) and a good playfield (no ghosting) for less then you could get an LE. I purchased one in may that was made a month prior for 7019 shipped. Unless you really really like the art package there really isn't much of a point.
Quoted from Whysnow:Noteven close. Pro is the much better game.
Comments such as this one is why nobody takes you serious.
The premium is way better than the pro. But honestly, there are a lot of better games to spend your money on. Every time I hear "who brought the dog" (which is every game I play because of the crappy code) I want to pull my hair out.

Play better. And sell me your Sorcerer.
Quoted from Vino:Play better. And sell me your Sorcerer.
Look for my obit. Then contact my wife.
I've put out an ad to trade my GB Premium + cash to GB LE, so I would vote yes on your idea to upgrade the Pro to the LE.
Quoted from Who-Dey:Comments such as this one is why nobody takes you serious.
I forgot that there were so many premium/le buyers of GB here. I should have remembered where I was.
There is no doubt that the pro provides the better value and is the better shooting game (what I care about).
Magnaslings are a joke (neat idea with poor execution for real life play). Slimer mech is better on pro. Left ramp is better on pro.
Right ramp delivery is better on Prem/LE, but that is pretty much it.
Dollar for dollar and side by side i will take the pro EVERY time. Granted, I understand your defense of the premium for fear that the top end will continue to drop on them as it has. I think you just need to get comfortable with the reality that LE pins rarely hold their value and those days are gone.
I got tired after looking at the first 3 I clicked on.....
but you get the point... basically the questions was answered on here before it was even asked. Unfortunate that pinside has gone so far to the point that LE buyers will defend the subpar shooter over concern of lost value. Side by side it is not even a close comparison that the pro is the better game and here you just have people justifying the purchase they already own.
It is the reality of current pinside where a good portion of the users own collections largely made up of premium/LE sterns from the past 3 years.

Stick with the Pro. It's the better shooting game! I actually prefer the right ramp setup on the Pro to the LE. Left ramp is smoother as well.

yeah, a well tuned in pro right ramp is a better shooter(less rejects) and also a very innovative ramp setup and very satifying to hit all the way to the dead end!
I played the pro and liked it but went premium and do not regret it one bit it's just a better game period.

There's no grand conspiracy to get pro owners to upgrade to Premium/LE's. Unless I'm mistaken, the OP wanted to hear from people that have experience with the game he's thinking of upgrading to and who better than current or previous owners. He's been on Pinside for 3 years so I'm pretty sure he knows to look at the collection icon, its no secret. I personally think the pro is a blast and a better value as with all pros. I prefer the premium/LE and that's obviously why I bought it.

yeah, sorry I was not trying to be a d***
I was pointing out that the majority of GB owners on pinside are going to be prem/le as that is a good chunck of what the active forum users here own. Many of them bought the LE or prem from the start. There is a natural desire from many to defend this and hope it holds value. That bias overrides the ability to provide a subjective opinion on value
Quoted from Rhlufa:It the LE worth the extra cash?
Coming to pinside to ask if the LE is worth the extra cash is a foredrawn conclusion on what the answer will be.
Reality is that I cant think of a single LE that is worth the extra cash? The value is not there, the LE is uber overpriced for what is added, and across the board the consensus from actual players is that the pro always settles into being the overall better game (both value and shooter). Ocassionally there is a feature that everybody wishes the pro model had (i.e. walker bombs on TWD for example) but that feature is yet to prove worth it from any pro/prem/le game I have seen.

Thought you were trying to pee in my Cheerios this morning. It's all good. I think the OP's question is subjective. If you're paying the extra cash for an LE over a premium you'd want to have a big boner for lime green and slimer artwork.
Maybe it's just the examples I've played but the "flipper feel" on the Premium/LE's that I've played feels noticeably different than the Pro. Not sure if their are any difference in flipper circuitry or power settings but the LE flippers feel stronger and it is more difficult to flipper pass and tap pass compared to the Pro. Airballs also seem to be worse on the LE especially around the left ramp and gameplay just seems more brutal in general. The Pro feels more controllable and has a better feel to it at least on the examples that I have played. I just seem to get more cheap drains on the LE/Prem compared to the Pro. The right ramp on the Prem also is frustrating to hit as shots that should make it around sometimes don't make that curve and come back down. This could all be due to individual game setup/settings but it is something that I have definitely noticed and left a bad taste in my mouth for the non Pro models.

These are the exact things I had to address to get the game where I wanted it. It would be a different game if these items weren't addressed.
Carrot flippers (extended length), had to make a plastic protector for air balls off left ramp as the ones available weren't quite wide enough and brought the right PKE ramp down by changing hex standoff underneath-
Quoted from Whysnow:There is no doubt that the pro provides the better value and is the better shooting game (what I care about).
Why is it better shooting? I found they shoot about the same.
Quoted from Syco54645:Why is it better shooting? I found they shoot about the same.
IMO
Predictiably random slings which favor skill over luck
Better left ramp shot and right lane feed
better slimer shot
better right ramp (less rejects once adjusted) and better that it does not return to same flipper
as mike notes, better flipper feel and fewer airballs

Maybe the LE/Prem just requires extra tweaking compared to the Pro to get it to play right? I've played multiple GB Pro's straight out of the box that played great with no adjustments. Maybe someday I'll get a chance to play a properly setup LE/Prem which could sway my opinion. I still think the Pro is a fantastic game for the money though and I'm not sure if the extra features would be worth the extra cost even if the game was dialed in and playing great.

The only Stern Premium that is worth the extra cash IMO is ACDC. The bell is far superior and the drops, light show, lower playfield, upgraded sound system, powdercoat, etc. really make it worth the extra $1700 or so over the Pro. Even though it is a Premium model it is more feature packed than any of the recent Stern LE models. I do have a TWD LE in my collection and prefer it to the Pro mostly because of the Walker bomb strategy, spinners and the light show but bang for the buck the Pro is still the way to go. It's my favorite game of all time though so I wanted the version that I liked the best even if it isn't the "best value".
Quoted from Whysnow:There is a natural desire from many to defend this and hope it holds value. That bias overrides the ability to provide a subjective opinion on value
Has absolutely nothing to do with defending value for me.
The layout is MUCH better than the pro. The pro isn't bad its just the afterthought right ramp is terrible and F's up that side of the PF, and lacks key features that the premium has.
The premium has the magna slings, awesome, hologram, subway ramp and ball lock, Slimer moving mech AND when set up properly, the right ramp shot kicks ass when hit (I lowered ramp a hair)
There is a natural desire on behalf of pro owners to try and poo poo the premium in fear that they are missing out on something. That bias overrides the ability to provide a subjective opinion on value.
The pro is good, the premium blows it away. One of Stern's best sellers ever.
Quoted from iceman44:its just the afterthought
other way around... John T starts with the pro and then makes the LE.
Pretty obvious that is the case as the shot layout is very similar.
I believe you Ice, you dont give 2 squats about value of the game and I love that about you!
lov the inverse jab on lack of subjectivity of pro owners also
We can agree to diagree on which is the better shooter.

really? I thought he always went Pro first and kept in mind the general idea for prem additions?

The pro shoots like hot garbage, unlike the prem+ that shoots like luke warm garbage

I only have one Premium in my collection in case you didn't notice. The reason I went Premium is not because I'm rich and always buy Premiums and LE's, it's because I played both models and felt like the Premium was far superior. That will probably be the only Premium that I ever buy.
Both the pro and prem are a blast to play. But the extra goggles, magna slings, metal ramps etc are well worth it.
The pro is actually a little easier, due to slimer being predictable, the left ramp being slightly steeper on the prem (both feel great when you hit them), and the down up subway ramp is really cool. right ramps are about the same, since the prem is a bit wider opening but has to be a strong shot, where as the pro was tighter and also alot it would fall back down the hole if they were weak, prem ramp feels alot better when you hit it. The magna slings are less predictable but really awesome and suit the theme well.
Either way just play better! I'm convinced only wusses don't like GB, because it kicks their butts!

Well said! The magna slings are just unbelievably fun and They fit the GB theme perfectly. Do I wanna see them on every pinball machine? Hell no, but I love them on GB. Then you have the subway ramp, that is totally awesome, then the right ramp.....far far better than the Pro model and you don't need to lower it either. The right ramp is meant to be hard and I can hit mine pretty often now that I am familiar with the game. The ecto goggles are just a novelty so no big deal there, but you also have the 3D buildings and the moving slimmer that makes the Premium better. That's 4-5 GOOD reasons right there to buy the Premium model.
