So as a guy who plays 100 percent on location, my thoughts are:
1) Any time you play on location you try to find the one that is working the best or to your favor.
2) Adapt your gameplay on the fly. (This is one of the ways you get good)
3) Notify the op/owner of problems (they almost never are aware of them)
4) Bangback/death-save as much as possible.
Regarding 2), if you think you can walk into an arcade or bar and work your NIB strats on a location pin, you are smoking. I played a CFTBL the other day with a 1.3B grand champ score, where the flips went weak once you located the Creature. Replay at 80m. Fine, I shot whirlpool before locating the Creature. Did Move your Car before going for Multi to ensure the replay.
Played an AFM at the same location with very shallow flippers and no tilt. It was basically impossible to shoot the lock ramp. So we worked the saucer, lanes, ramps, etc. Slide saved and death saved the game at every chance. Left the place with 6 credits on the machine and GCs.
Ya got to find a way to win no matter what.
