I agree, I don't go look at anything I want to buy without the cash to buy on the spot. The guy did shake hands on it and going back on your handshake makes you a douche

Quoted from Anth:Here's my problem with this; craigslist is full of flakes, both seller and buyer. Just because someone comes over and shakes your hand doesn't mean they are coming back. I don't believe selling to the first person with cash makes you a douche.
Here's my problem with what you said:
If you are a seller who wants the 1st person with the cash to take it, I get that. BUT, say that up front. To shake someone's hand and agree upon a deal only to change the deal makes you a douche. A seller can be a douche by changing the price or cancelling the sale and a buyer can be a douche by not returning or trying to reduce the amount agreed upon. If I shake someone's hand and agree upon a deal, than it's done. I don't care if it's Pinside, Craigslist, yard sale, or whatever. You stand by what you say...period
So to get back to you, No - selling to the 1st person with the cash does not make you a douche, agreeing to sell to someone, shaking their hand, then changing the deal or selling to someone else DOES make you a douche!
