Interesting comparison with the organs example. You can find quite a few ads for pins on the local CLs (nearest three counties / metro areas) that I think have been running -- some off and on -- for at least a year. Sometimes the inflated prices being asked explains it; other times you have to wonder, 'O.K., what's wrong with it that it hasn't sold in all this time ?' There have also been some amusing non-ads turning up from what you might call "Pin Vigilantes" -- part price police, calling out some sky-high asking price ads, or opening fire on sellers / businesses they considered disreputable. That extends to repair services and movers.
I still have great doubts about CL, but maybe it's not completely worthless.
