I have COVID and I'm terribly disappointed to be missing the show. I was going to be there today, a one-day wonder. Fortunately the community really came through for me and is helping me fulfill a couple buying obligations I had, so that's great.

I'm curious what the show is like? How is attendance? Any feedback on the tournament?

How's the buying / selling? One source told me the pickings are pretty slim and it "seems like all the deals happened on the internet" now.

In recent years it seemed like this was partly, true, but show was still pretty good if you were interested in EM / early digital stuff. So wondering if anybody had any feedback on that.

The other Allentown thread just seems to be people hawking wares so thought I'd start this one up. Would love to see a walkthrough vid or whatever pictures you can post.

seems the cargo shorts/white reebok ratio is holding a steady 1/1.

    You made it!?

I don't get making fun of cargo shorts at pinball shows. They just make sense!!!!

    Quoted from TheFamilyArcade:

Levi, you were vaccinated, and still got it huh? Get well soon.

Yes, so did a friend who was at the same event. You are smart to remain vigilant.

Thanks for the report, have fun !

Always love the EM/SS Action at Allentown.

    Quoted from ezeltmann:

In tournament news , it is a fairly expensive endeavor $60 (total) to enter classics and main
2 games included for classics ($3 for each extra game in classics with 6 games played total, including the 2 at registration)
4 games included for main ($5 per extra game up to a total of 12 games inclusive )
Not much action in the tournament area . Not sure if people were waiting for tomorrow or weren't into laying the money out.
The even starting closing down by 8 ish , apparently due to the scarcity of players.

Well at least it won’t run late!

Thanks for the feedback guys sounds like you are all making the best of it!

I was going to bring a beautiful space mission to play and to get me in free. It looks like this!

Just imagine you are playing it. Ding! Ding ding ding! Ding! (No you still haven’t actually flipped it’s a space mission)

    Quoted from gdonovan:

New Balance or Sketchers for me.

Yeah I'm all about the sketchers, cheap, comfy, and everywhere. And now they makes ones that don't even have real laces. Loafer sneakers baby!!! Finally my dreams are coming true.

When people make jokes about fashion at pinball shows I'm like...you are making jokes about fashion at pinball shows.

Vibe was good until the whole building popped a breaker!

I would expect that gets sorted out quickly !

    Quoted from bonzo71:

I went Friday primarily for EM parts and found everything I was looking for and more. Here are some items I purchased:
Gottlieb EM mech board = $20
    24 new Chrome balls $25
backglass channel and side trim $4
    set of 31" legs $40
    leg levelers $1.25 each
a box of Chicago Coin and Williams score reels/steppers (around 20) $10
    Williams shooter assembly $15
There were some decent project deals. I saw a Strike Zone pin for $450 with nice backglass and playfield...there were others too. Yes there were also sky high projects, but it was Friday and these vendors have to cover costs. Friday was busy, but not over crowed. Everyone I saw seemed to be having a good time.

Lmao I swear that strike zone is there every single year.

Geez buddy.... hope you get well soon.
The show was great... I sold every gane I brought but one, and I bought a nice F14 at a decent price. Crowd seemed lighter (covid, summer), but still Wall to wall people.
Jax and I did get nervous for sure with the show approaching, and the delta numbers increasing. She was great about masking up. I was not as great, but it’s tough to do when talking to people in a crowded event and trying to breathe after moving 300 pound monsters. Will be interesting to see where the world is in two weeks.... I feel like if the show went off mid-august that it might have fallen victim to regulations, so we were fortunate to get it in.
Prices were pretty much nuts. I think (hope) people are starting to realize that only top tier games should bring top dollar. No, your judge dredd with three legs and dead dmd is not worth 4K. Sorry. I also think the usual summertime market contributed to less sales.... but nice games and priced right games didn’t have a problem moving, IMO. I don’t think cointaker had any new in box games for immediate sale... perhaps just taking orders on future runs? Big shortage out there of new stuff.
    Be well,
    Mike F

Which games did you sell and for how much?

I did see a few games listed that would have been in my usual Allentown Wheelhouse. That nice Bally Flicker for $450 obo looked like a great deal.

    #105 2 years ago

Anybody know what that quicksilver was selling for ?

    #109 2 years ago

Flicker seemed like a good deal at 450 obo. I wonder if he took it home.

    Quoted from vdojaq:

Funny story, on Facebook, there is a group called Pinball Enthusiasts, I am a member. There was this picture posted from Allentown and I made this exact comment "The pink shorts should have cost him twice to get in".
Some snowflake named Loren Papasian kept stalking me and telling me I was a bully and using toxic masculinity. I told him to go get laid and great use of the victim card. Here was his last post:
"Jack in all honesty though, you attacked someone you don’t know for wearing pink shorts.
Sorry bud that’s toxic masculinity and bullying. I’m just being honest with you about that.
You don’t need to agree with me but that’s how the world sees it.
Best of luck, I hope you clear yourself of whatever demons you have that make you find happiness by putting others down."
And he posted a GIF of Bernie Sanders saying "Good Luck" underneath it.
Oh yeah, the moderator called me a Karen for my comment too!
Is this for real? Is this what we have come to? A comment about pink shorts at a pinball festival is the end of the world? [quoted image]

Why are you telling us this?

Nobody cares about some argument you had on Facebook.

    )))))))

LMAO and this is the world WE live in.

People recount tales of their boring arguments on Facebook like grandpa used to talk about landing on Normandy.

    Quoted from PinballAir:

The best deal on an em IMO was the Big Brave for $750.
Beautiful playfield, nice glass , nice cab and coin door.
    Played excellent.

Sounds like a killer deal I wonder if it sold.

Sounds like Allentown was still a decent shopping spot if you were open to games like this. I know most buyers these days aren't.
