First time to Allentown for myself and the wife, we had a great time! Wait to get in? 45 minutes Saturday morning, we showed up an hour before open and scored a space right up front.

Brought a machine down, came home with another. Meet up with some other Pinsiders and picked up a system 80B display, 4 legs, 2 new ramps and a neon beer sign, everything went butter smooth.

Played more classic games than I can remember- Blackout, Dr. Who, Loop the Loop, Close Encounters of the third kind, Space Station, DE Star Wars, Stargate, Alien Star, Genie, Bad Cats, Dolly, Kiss, Fireball (which was DIALED IN, game was amazing) Stellar Wars, Genesis, Camelot home brew game, Eight Ball Deluxe. Went through vendors several times looking for parts, ended up grabbing a spare pf glass on general principle. All were happy to answer questions.

Kids? To be honest did not notice any till we were leaving around 3PM. Most people were courteous and did not hog a machine. Rare was it that we had to wait and in that case we simply moved to another game near by that we had not played yet.

My wife enjoyed herself immensely there and the farmers market next store and will be back for the next show. With a larger vehicle to bring more pins home

Hey I had a tote bag, I had lots of parts to buy.

    Quoted from Syco54645:

I needed a few posts and star posts and could not even find them at the show. Even if I had I am sure it would have been $8 for a single star post. Just pointless going if you are in it for parts.

I did notice that to some degree; One reason for going was for some new parts and was surprised that I found NOTHING for what I was looking for. Which was unfortunate as I wanted to support vendors who came to the show! A vendor who shall remain nameless stated that I could "order an item through their website" but when I came home this was not true which surprised me.

Maybe they had it and maybe they did not, it was not listed on their website though.

In general the show was very good and in regards to new parts will lower my future expectations. Glass was $35 a sheet, can't beat that with a stick.

    Quoted from DRDAVE:

Thankfully only witnessed one clueless guy doing this.

I saw it twice but it was rare so not worth mentioning IMHO. You are always going to have one or two rude people in any gathering and it wasn't enough to ruin the good time and great people there. We just moved onto another machine and came back later.

    Quoted from FlashDaddy:

People who start multiplayer games alone almost always just don't understand how to start a pinball game.
Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity. - Hanlon

Actually observing both... in one case it was 2 women playing Bad Cats who didn't wish to give up the machine (they played game after game even with a number of people in line behind them) in another was an older gent who clearly was familiar with the game he was playing and had a running dialog going on with his buddy while playing.

Again, these people didn't ruin our experience. There will always be thoughtless people in a crowd. We simply moved on to other games and came back to both later. My wife is already looking at the calendar to see what else is on the horizon for shows.

    Quoted from Irishbastard:

Never plug a sump pump into a power strip, or GFI outlet unless you want water... GFI is code, but ask any electrician if they would trust it in their house, absolutely not.

Mine is plugged into a battery back up =)

    Murphy is not your friend.

    Quoted from SilverUnicorn:

Not sure if this happened on my Bad Cats (the one toward the front) or the one in the back, but if you're near the area you're always welcome to stop over and play mine. Well, once I get it set up again
    Chris

One toward the back with the seafood wheel not working time to time.

And we still had fun =)

    #277 4 years ago
    Quoted from SilverUnicorn:

Hmmmm, that sounds like mine as the seafood wheel stopped working as well. Either way, the offer stands
    Chris

This one, my wife liked it very much. I'm commanded to find one if possible.

We played 18 different games together while we were there Friday, some more than once if there was no line to get a good handle on the machine. Were making a list..

    Quoted from JodyG:

There absolutely was no gutter guard being sold at the show. Come on man...at least base your rants on facts. I think some people just go to these things looking for ways to be disappointed. You must be a pile of fun at parties.

Hey I drove 7 hours to see some gutter guard, imagine my disappointment!

    #333 4 years ago
    Quoted from JodyG:

I find this even more humorous because at my day job I am directly involved with the large scale manufacturing of no less than a half dozen varieties of...drumroll....gutter guard. But not the same products you see at your local fair or farm show.

Ha! Dude I could have so used that last week. I'm on a three story roof looking over the edge scooping tree crap out of plugged downspout. I'm not afraid of heights but have a healthy respect for gravity. Even with a harness its disconcerting lying face down looking over the edge of a roof with a hell of a pitch. God bless roofers.

    Quoted from 1974DeltaQueen:

Disagree. The flea used to get rained out all the time. Ivan fixed this. Indoor flea is always busy and the majority of show goers like the quieter setting as an temporary escape from the mayhem on the main floor. I feel like the Vendors want heavy foot traffic for maximum exposure . And crapping on all the loyal flea owners saying their wares are junk is flat out rude.

It was a nice break from the main floor and I saw several things of interest.

Pity the 2 player version of Moon Shot (Astronaut) was sold! Sounds silly but they would have looked sweet side by side in our game room and its a very fun game.. The 2 player has different colors and backglass and the game rules are slightly different between the two.

    Quoted from terrapinmark:

My friend bought the Astronaut at the show. It is going to a very good home as he is an actual NASA Rocket Scientist. He has just about every space and rocket themed pinball. Congrats on your Moon Shot.

Thanks! It is a wickedly fun and fast game, make sure he has the high tap jumper set by the fuse panel.

That Astronaut looked like it was in remarkable shape!

    Quoted from Mizzou0103:

They all got super board within a hour with the lines to play everything.

What day did you go? We found many machines open for play at a given time, so much so that we left early being all played out.

    #413 4 years ago
    Quoted from Mizzou0103:

We went Friday night from about 6 to 8. There were games open but they typically had problems. Last year was different because the game to people ratio seemed to be better. Of the newer games, there was always a Star Wars or something similar available.

We were there from 9 on the spot till 4 Friday. My only complaint was I should have gone through the flea market sooner rather than later but that isn't a knock on the show but my own choice.

    #419 4 years ago
    Quoted from McPin54:

I let my oldest daughter play hooky Friday and we ran into "The Santa Clause of Pinball" spreading pinball joy to boys and girls of all ages!

He almost ran me over in the parking lot while we were loading up a pin!

Todd is a funny guy, been to his place twice to pick up EM's (he hates them!) very gracious.
