Quoted from nicoga3000:I'm still trying to find my pallet, but I did get a bottle of this through a connection of mine. My grandfather (86) said he wants to try it before he dies, so I hunted around and got this so he and I can share it together.

That is an awesome thing to be able to do with your Gramps! I would give almost anything to share some high quality stuff with my dad,no longer with us.
Please let us know how he likes it. I sent a life long friend a sample of that for Christmas,he has been chasing it for years. He liked it a lot. The bottle is almost gone, but sharing a pour on Christmas over FaceTime was priceless.
Quoted from guitarded:This is Peerless Pressure, you guys know that. Right?
Peerless bourbon pressure.... I only got Rye.

Had one the other night, almost end of my 2nd bottle

Looks like "the good stuff" is on the other side.

Strangely enough, my wife bought me that. Lol
Quoted from RonSS:Tried some New Riff Single Barrel last night. Started off with a Manhattan...either I'm not making it right or this is a waste of alcohol! Probably the former.
Had a glass on the rocks later, seemed smooth enough. I'll need another test soon to be certain.

I see Proper Twelve did a photo bomb.

Yeah, haven't tried that yet. Should have read reviews BEFORE purchasing. Got fooled by the "12". Oh well,

Ive heard polarizing opinions on new riff.

Something to look forward to!

While I don't proclaim to have a sophisticated pallet, I was not impressed with the New Riff. I think I had a couple of tastes of it and now it's buried on the shelf somewhere...

Oh good! I'm 1 for 3 in the whiskey department! Well, I'll give it a solid effort this weekend.

As well you should as everyone's pallet is a bit different. There have been some bourbons that others love that just don't do it for me, and vice versa. It's always best to give it a try and if you like it then that's all that matters.
Tried some more last night, on the rocks. It wasn't offensive, but also didn't make an impression like Redbreast did the first few times I tried that.
As it stands, I think it's fine. I'm not a bourbon drinker yet, prefer my Irish, but I wouldn't toss this in the grass.
I'll reserve the right to change my mind in the future as I'm just getting started.
Egyptrus, you are correct. This stuff is like pinball itself; not everyone likes the same stuff.

If you are comparing to RB 12 then you won’t find many bourbons that beat it. RB is excellent no matter what whiskey you like! My current go to’s are Makers cask strength (for a wheated bourbon), Pikesville for a rye, and EH Taylor for bourbon (if you can find it).
That said exploring is what I like best. Trying an Old Elk wheated whiskey right now... and it is just meh.
I went to Hye, Texas and toured the garrison brothers distillery a few years ago, the white dog (alcohol that becomes bourbon) was absolutely delicious.
After a few mid shelf gb bottles, I got the top, I’ve been dreaming of every drop. If you’re in Texas , gotta grab a glass or bottle...

I am jealous. That bottle is on my “really, really want to try it list”. Thoughts on it when you do open it?
I cant believe how difficult it is to find blantons or eagle rare these days. I havent seen blantons on a shelf anywhere in about 2 years and no eagle rare for about a year.

I did find both using Va. ABC website, eagle rare 47 miles away (2 bottles) and blantons 74 miles away
(1 bottle). If I didn't have so much to do today, road trip!
Can't find Blanton's anywhere near me. They even put limits on the bottles bars can buy up here...fortunately, Eagle Rare makes an appearance every few months.
Quoted from djreddog:10 bottles of Blantons on the wall....[quoted image]
Almost nothing in that pic could be found ANYWHERE around my area. You are very lucky.

Limits here too. 1 bottle per customer a day for both Eagle Rare and Blanton's and other's as well.
No limits here. Got eagle rare everywhere. Only problem with DE is price. Those Blantons are $100 a bottle. But it’s readily available!

Blantons goes for about 125-150 on the secondary market down here...IF you can find it.
