Quoted from Grangeomatic:I’ve heard that regular LEDs don’t work well, too (in 6803), but they work fine in my Party Animal. When I installed them a few years ago (from Comet) I had my fingers crossed, and they worked fine.
Is it possible that a capacitor could be implemented to “smooth out” the pulses they get from a lamp matrix? I realize this might create polarity issues, though.
I’ve also talked with some “older” people that claim a machine I think looks fine looks “flickery” to them, so other people’s vision is different, I guess.

There are at least two different 6803 OS and the feature lamp routine updates closer to zero cross in one of them which will cause the SCR flickering like in a classic bally game, others will work fine. The games that have the same power on self flash routine as Special Force should work okay with LEDs.
The multiphasing of the 6803 lamps is going to make the feature lamps strobe at 60Hz no matter what. I know some of the LEDs have a capacitor inside which will help deal with the 50% off time 60hz flicker (strobe light). In Special force a lot of feature lamps are used GI. With LEDs installed in the feature lamp GI of special force the 60Hz strobe light effect was unbearable. Like looking at a 1990s monitor set at 60hz blink blink blink, specially from your peripheral vision.
