I will post more photos and info later tonight.
I will be sure to update as soon as it is available for public play. Likely on Thursday at the monthly meetup will be the first shot.

Game looks great. So cool. Can't wait to see the LE with the beacon yellow lights!!! May can't come quick enough!!!
The LE is going to be SICK!!!! Leaning Blue Armor on mine, but will wait on artwork reveal to make my final choice.....

I am going to play test more
I may have missed it , but do you plan to do any video.
Looks awesome! Love that cab. This pin deserves to stand alone in a room with
no pin on either side. Just stunning!

Now you have your priorities set correctly!!!!!
Oh man I LOVE those return rails, with the grating floor & the ceiling beams! What an awesome effect!
Wow, it really looks amazing!
Of all the new-ish machines this is
the one I was most interested in.
I hope it plays as good as it looks!
Awesome, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for putting in on location, I have a feeling it's gonna be a good earner on route.
Looks nicer than a Magic Girl. Working mechs too!
Totally love how you can see the entire LCD and not just the top 1/3!!!

If you ask me.
Quoted from ChrisS:Def looks a lot better than Full Throttle.
Nonsense.
Can't wait to hear the ongoing review. Thanks for posting.
Alien is really going to give other manufactures some competition for pinball dollars. I was debating between ordering a Ghostbusters Premium or an Alien LE. At the standard level an Alien SE is about $400-600 more shipped then a Stern premium. Difference drops to $0-$200 if you take out the backbox LCD.
For $600 more (then a current DMD Stern Premium) or $400 more (then a LCD Stern, other then Batman 66 premium which is $8k...) you get a wide body game, all color changing inserts, all color changing GI, a 27" backbox LCD, the mini airlock LCD and the 10" playfield LCD. Oh, there's also no need to buy any interior art decals as Heighway already includes them. The game has 4 flippers, 10 shots that pass through or drop in somewhere, molded pop bumper caps, and a giant Alien mechanical pinball toy.
At the the LE level Heighway may be the cheapest in terms of higher price point games and you get powder coated armor (around backbox too), lighted interior side artwork, lighted ramps, a real rotating beacon topper, both SE and LE artwork, and a very nice 35th Alien anniversary goodie bag.
Yup, it ended up being a no brainer for me to go with Alien after I thought on it for a while, lol.

Me too, what an eye for detail. This pin is going to rock the Pinball world.
I can't tell or remember from some of the other videos. Does the game not use flashers? It could sure use some lighting effects when the ball gets eaten. I'm sure there are some SFX but there was no volume in the video.

If I recall correctly it doesn't have separate flasher bulbs, but can just use individual insert or GI lights in a way to provide the flasher effects when desired. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.
Do the inserts ever use different colors for different inserts at the same time? The pics I'm seeing makes it look like they are all green, or all blue, etc.

That's actually the best photo I've seen myself of how they came out. Glad you like them. Dave gets the credit for the layered platform idea, Andrew came up with the acid holes, I just executed it.

I feel like mentioning David Thiel sound too.
Forgive me because I have been out of the loop on this game (waiting for an actually shipped game). But who is coding Alien? How did the code come along on Full Throttle? The game is absolutely beautiful. I was just wondering if they have the same coding issues that Big Brother (Stern experiences)? How is their updating process? Thanks again, Mike
I don't know if I want to like Heighway's game after Alien's or not... if I like it I think I may end up having to drop a ton of money for Full Throttle, Aliens, and the 3rd title. The modularity is REALLY enticing when you have limited space like me right now....

Ha! I didn't even notice the acid holes. I had to go back & look. The level of detail here is really amazing & it really comes together cohesively to create something special. You may have taken extra time to deliver, but the changes & attention to detail were worth it. I think you guys knocked it out of the park on presentation.

Game rules code is mostly Joe Schober, and he's doing a killer job. There's lot of input from the whole team (David Thiel for instance was behind the mode that turns out to be a real tribute to Hudson/Bill Paxton), but he owns the coding aspect of it, and is really dedicated to this not only being a fun game to play, immersive and true the universe and all that good stuff, but also a tournament-ready game, with balanced scoring, deep strategy, and opportunities to improve your game.
Joe is a talented player, with tournament experience, is an experienced programmer, and he's getting the details right. There is already a tournament setting in the game to remove randomness from awards for instance.
Rule set right now is fleshed out and utterly playable, all the modes and wizard mode etc are there, this isn't a Stern launch experience. But I expect the code and audio/visual package to keep improving in 2017, without obviously being in a position to promise anything more specific than that.
Quoted from Fytr:If I recall correctly it doesn't have separate flasher bulbs, but can just use individual insert or GI lights in a way to provide the flasher effects when desired. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.
Yeah, that's exactly right. For example, when the Vent 1 saucer is about to eject the ball, in lieu of flashing a flasher as a warning like many games do, I flash the GI lamps in that area red. Also, we can (and do) overdrive lamps up to 200% of "standard" brightness to emphasize certain things. I admit, I wish there were a few flashers in the machine, as I love great flasher effects, but I think we've done well with the lighting overall. And still quite a bit more improvements to come in that area.
Quoted from Fytr:Do the inserts ever use different colors for different inserts at the same time? The pics I'm seeing makes it look like they are all green, or all blue, etc.
Yes, of course. I think most of the pics so far have been in attract mode, which currently just lights everything in green.
Quoted from jorge5240:But who is coding Alien?
I was the main designer and implementer of the Alien-specific rules. The platform is created by @bcd.

Since we're printing on clear plastic, with a white ink base, anything I leave fully transparent in Photoshop gets no white, and so I can put literal holes in the art so you can see through them, without impacting the ball rolling. It in effect creates 4 visual layers for the platforms there, I think it's really quite clever. (Again, wasn't my idea, not trying to pat myself on the back here!)
I didn't really understand how the plastics were going to work before, if you saw the game at Expo with temporary art it wasn't nearly as interesting, but seeing it in person was super helpful. One of the challenges of the Los Angeles/Wales gap. I think the final idea came out great though, and of course on the LE it will also incorporate fiber optic lighting. Andrew actually revealed some new info about that on a call we had today, and without spoiling it I'm very curious to see it in action now.

I literally ran the math on this exact scenario earlier today haha

3 games for the price of a Stern Super LE? Probably close.

That and thoughts of routing it and being able to swap every few weeks easily.

That's true...you could take 1 playfield "out of service" for a shop job and drop in another fresh one

Have they figured out a solution for the cpu in Full Throttle not being able to handle Aliens?
Quoted from InfiniteLives:Have they figured out a solution for the cpu in Full Throttle not being able to handle Aliens?
Andrew said that was a few weeks out I think, they were having some resolution(?) issues they were ironing out or something. Everyone claims the swap is no problem.
Quoted from InfiniteLives:Have they figured out a solution for the cpu in Full Throttle not being able to handle Aliens?
Yes they have, new CPU, get a quote from them as I am not sure just how official the quote is that i received a few days ago. It is not expensive at all.
Heighway rules, btw
Absolutely in awe!
Stands to be quite possibly a Top 5 Pin!
So much improvement and Polish on the Game since Expo!
A round of applause to all involved.
I will be getting in to an LE, likely and collect the tables as well.

I'm looking forward to having an Alien kit and swapping out my Full Throttle for a while, but it also means I've got a bunch of spare Heighway parts to do cannibal repairs with if I needed to.
