The ground plug has been missing on my (once was working, but now is not) Alien Star. I just got a new line cord to replace this one, but wanted to double check how it should be wired. I would expect black to black, and white to something else (which is brown in this case).

However, the existing cord is wired backwards from what I'd expect. Picture:

Does it matter?

Looked around in the manual and feel confident. The brown inside the cab is supposed to be the 110V. The black in the line cord is the hot. So I connected the same way it was before and that seemed to do the trick.

Now looking at pinwiki for my other issues.

You don't have a fuse on the hot coming into the cabinet? That's where your black from the wall should connect. From there the wiring would go to the service outlet, then the power switch.

See vid1900 's guide for details.
