Fried left pop bumber coil on Alien Poket a week ago. I've had this exact same thing happen to me on a Bride Of Pinbot. It blew the U20 chip on the CPU board and ended up getting a socket installed w/ a new U20 chip. The metal broken yoke spun around and shorted to ground is the best way I can explain as a tech newbie.
Now the same thing has happened to the left pop bumper on Alien Poker. I've got a new coil installed but don't want to turn on the game and watch the new coil fry. I turned the pin off before while the coil was still "cooking" so not sure if the related transistor needs replacing.
Sorry for the newbie like question. If the coil was still "cooking" when I turned of the pin, then is it safe to say the transistor firing that pop is still good?
If I test the transistor on the Driver board, which connector would I need to pull off first to get an accurate reading on a DVM?
