Ok so I'm fresh back from PATZ 2019 which was an amazing show again this year. However my dearly beloved was a bit cross with me as I looked over some project machines. Apparently I "Have a problem with projects" and "won't be getting another one until at least one of the ones we have is working"
Ok ok fair enough I did buy this pile of a rough cabinet and basically complete playfield at PATZ 2016 according to the date on the pictures so... guess it's about time I do something with it. I've been gathering pieces and parts since I picked it up and think I've got enough to get started. Might as well dive in head first with a total mess right? Still needs a lock down bar, two flipper assemblies, sound roms and glass. This doesn't include all the misc pieces parts for rebuilding the boards, rubbers, bulbs etc....
Given my current skill level my main goal is at minimum, to get it working and playable. Sure I'd love to have the best looking AP around but I don't know if this playfield or myself are up for the task. I'll most likely just clean that up and use a playfield protector until the time comes to swap or try my hand at a full clear coat and touch up. We'll see how it cleans up after I strip the top down. If it's solid enough I'll go for the full service treatment.... I do truely love this title so the effort will be well worth it. I've been reading through Vids guides and the part I'm most nervous to tackle is the PF. In the event that this CPU board is too far gone I may fall back on using a rottendog replacement. But I do want to attempt rebuilding the board if I can.
I'll let the pictures speak 1000 words. Overall I think the PF is alright for a player it's just too bad the inserts cupped. The plastics are pretty good shy of the one that's broken. Anyway here goes nothing, let's see if I can prove the wife wrong haha.
