Quoted from rubberducks:

the literature from Heighway even say in big letters "Artwork subject to change".

This is probably because they had the literature printing well before the artwork was finalized, which I believe was only last week! If you have a trade show in a week, you're printing literature well in advance.

Quoted from HoakyPoaky:

Also can someone explain how that reverse ramp works, or at least give an example of one? Does it have a VUK? I don't see a hole cut out in the playfield, so I'm guessing it works something like the elevator & return ramps on Who Dunnit? Just curious.

To a similar extent...

Quoted from Perspex:

I kinda like that wide bezel...it gives me the impression of framed artwork.

2nd this. And it has ZERO impact on game visibility!

Alien video looks spectacular. Especially all the talk proving true about game immersion, sound, and video. If it has feel and speed similar to Full Throttle, this game will be an instant classic. After today's event's, Andrew needs to be careful doing his celebratory back flip.

Quoted from libtech:

has to be the older style rotating yellow beacons as per in the film

I'll just ask it then before someone else does...

Do they have to replace all three LCD's with CRT's to be consistent with the film too?

Quoted from J85M:

All I know is rarely 3D is rarely done properly or enhances a movie.

Sin City 2 - A Dame To Kill For... Jessica Alba in 3D. Contemplated wearing full football gear so it didn't hurt when I jumped into my screen.

Quoted from Ericpinballfan:

Its time for the small guys to band together.
Highway, American Pinball, Jersey Jack, and dare i say Dutch pinball. Maybe even spooky.
They should get together and form super pin company!

Yes, in a comic book or even WWE, I'd say that's a great idea. And as a diehard, 30yr WWE fan but also someone with common sense, if we could quickly jump back to reality, that ain't happening.

I feel for the Alien buyers. Check my posting history, I'm as big a Full Throttle/heighway guy as there is. No lie, I've put triple-digit dollars into my local FullT unapologetically. Over the last year I've dumped a decent amount into my collection and Alien was 10000% on my radar. I just never ended up seeing the planets aligning where that made the most sense given the manufacturing schedules and some of the deals out there.

But I can also see that the company's recent radio silence is quite alarming. In these types of situations, there should be a "cooler heads" mentality... until there is no hope, at which point, get the pitchforks nice and sharp. I realize you guys have boat loads of money spent here and see a DP situation on the horizon. But tomorrow is Friday. Hopefully there is something out tomorrow and it rights this ship, hopefully in a way where all buyers are happy and those who still want out are refunded. Perhaps even give the official notice until Monday. If Heighway doesn't have a definitive (non-PR B.S.) answer as to the lack of communication and clear direction of the company by Tuesday, I'd say F-it, this company is now at DP levels and do whatever you have to get your money back or your game sitting 2 steps away from the final QC check shipped.

GL to all those in effect.

Quoted from Msch:

This isn't a build to order company, they're broke and selling off everything they can. This company has failed to produce the alien pin beyond prototypes, and will not ship another pinball machine in the future. The company(investors) will auction to the highest bidder all production equipment and assets. Then the company will fold and settle with debtors first, then customers. There will not be any money for "refunds". Best of luck.

Quoted from Msch:

I am not in direct knowledge of anything. These are my opinions, not facts. Takes as you will.

Maybe try phrasing them as opinions and not facts.

Quoted from delt31:

Just curious why? What I mean is someone like stern buys the rights to produce it and does it right. The feedback from majority that play a working version love it so I would think you get backing from a well proven manufacturer and stern obtains a proven machine with amazing appeal

Too much risk for Stern, not nearly enough reward. With the ACDC Premium window thingy, I'd bet they wouldn't want to start dabbling with sub-playfield monitors, nor would want to do any of the following come to think of it - Redo the backbox, the side art, the interchangeable/module sub-assemblies, hardware that's different than their standard (and resulting inventory of those items for spares and whatnot)... and isn't Alien a widebody? So a whole new cabinet for them as well, all to end up with a game that will sell at the Prem price point, yet they could've just made another cornerstone game in less time to begin with.

Also, I went back to the 1st post and gave HP their first down vote. I feel like they deserve it after all this.

Quoted from Hazoff:

There is one positive that has come from these failures at least for me and thats the pre pay model and dealing with unproven boutiques pin companies is dead

I've been posting on this site for about 3 years, lurking for 1-2 before that. I've read this statement almost on an annual basis. I can almost guarantee someone new will come along with an even brighter, SHINIER pinball of some dream theme, and people's memories will be erased.

Groundhog Day, Men in Black... I don't know. I don't even have a witty picture for this one.
