Quoted from Aurich:

Personally I'm over the whole LE thing entirely. Rob Zombie game is only 300 units, and even it's getting an LE? Just feels out of hand.
I'd rather just see Standard and Premium. Because I realize there is an audience for extra bling, and cool ideas that you just can't fit into the normal BOM. So sell a pimped out version, and a regular version, and just make as many as people want to buy.
That's just me speaking though. I'm glad Alien has an LE, means I get to do a backglass that's my design, since the Standard one was more constrained.

So if RZ's LE was called a Premium you'd be fine with it?

#3053 3 years ago
Quoted from Aurich:

If that meant than anyone could order it? Sure. Meaning it's not limited in any way, pay $500 more and get the armor and the Dragula translite. Make them a package, that's fine, no problem with paying for for upgrades.
It's the "limited" part that I'm just not a big fan of. I have a METLE, but because I loved the mirrored backglass and cabinet art, and wanted a "special" version of the game, it's a favorite of mine. I don't care that I have something that's limited, be happy for as many other fans to buy that one as there was demand for.
I know not everyone thinks that way, and the LE is probably here to stay, but that's just my take.

I do think the general LE model as made popular by Stern is just a cash grab on their part. Spooky is doing it right though by using their very limited RZ LEs as a special thank you to customers who bought in to AMH and directly had a part in the company's growth. Without those early customers who put their faith into Spooky we wouldn't even have RZ being made today and Spooky wouldn't be expanding into their new, larger facility. At a build quantity of 300, the entire run is an "LE" IMO.

Unfortunately the drama will never leave pinside, many thrive on it. And Aurich brought a lot of it on himself.

Quoted from Mr68:

I understand the excitement and optimism here. But why are people assuming this delay is all the fault of the licensor?

Because Heighway stated exactly that. The video is completed and was submitted to Fox for approval. Once Fox approves, I think Heighway would release the video to the public almost immediately.

Those plastics look pretty cool and they're not even in color yet!

That would be awesome but seems unlikely.

Even though I can't afford a new game, I'm really interested to see the final product. I may need to find a way because this seems to have a ton of potential.

#7361 2 years ago

Doesn't the LE have the huge additional LCD?

Quoted from BudManPinFan:

No plunger is a major disappointment as that's one of the things that makes a pinball machine a pinball machine. The Heighway website still shows plungers on the standard and LE cabinets. I love the Alien movies and am excited by the potential but I want to see more of a finished product and get some impressions on how it plays before I put down any money.

So the various WPC games without a traditional plunger are not pinball machines in your opinion?

#7975 2 years ago

Did Stern hack Heighway's email?

#8039 2 years ago

Great reveal vid. Love the close ups of everything and the playfield screen interfaces as nice as I had hoped.

Quoted from ezeltmann:

Maybe that rogue info is supposed to be on the mini lcd.

Interesting - it looks as if all LCD info is generated on one "display" and then each individual screen grabs a section of that and scales appropriately.

People seriously complaining about the look of the beacons? J.C., people will bitch about anything.

Including bitching about people bitching!

Quoted from Jarbyjibbo:

Would there be room to recess the bottom portion into the bb so just the lenses were visible? I've never seen a HW pin in person so am unsure of their dimensions.

I wonder if anybody with a Full Throttle could post a picture inside the backbox for a comparison? The Alien hardware should be similar and this may give some insight into the space that's available. Of course nothing is guaranteed to be the same on Alien but just an idea.

I'm assuming someone will be bringing an Alien to MGC this year? At least I hope so!

#11204 2 years ago
Quoted from Maken:

Question for those who have sent a deposit for alien... Have you been asked to send your deposit money via EMT or via paypal as gift?
The distributor in Canada will only accept paypal if the customer eats the merchant fees. Seems odd to me as they are not a friend or individual, but a company. Also, surcharges for accepting PayPal seem to go against the paypal user agreement.

You should never pay for goods or services as a gift. It is absolutely the right of the seller to request that the buyer covers the PP fees, though. You would pay for goods and add the amount of the fees to your payment.

Quoted from Whysnow:

I should mention that any pinheads which seak this place out for the game, please be sure to buy a beer/ nachos at the bar and specifically tell them thanks for having pinball. I have found they really appreciate this feedback and we are of course very thankful that they let us take up space with pinball.

I'll make a trip up soon to check out Aliens. Never been to Alt brew but I'd be happy to let them know exactly what brought me there

Probably referring to the playfield glass not sliding out in a traditional manner, but being mounted to a frame that lifts up.

Quoted from SadSack:

3D is really bad for your eyes. You keep focusing different depths, but your eyes don't change angle. It creates a disjoining between your eye movement and focus. That's why so many get a headache.

Did you know that the world is in 3D and yours eyes are constantly doing this?

Not sure, but one thing I am sure about: It will still have the same amount of shots.

I count at least 10 from memory, not including pops as shots and also ignoring the 2 lightning standups that are very hard to hit. That's not enough for you?

Quoted from Davidus56:

Collecting for about 30 years. First pin was Pinbot. I didn't have money to buy many games until my 50's. That is when very long hours at work and sweat equity finally paid off. You should be glad I'm supporting our hobby instead of spending my hard earned money on exotic cars, 'escorts' or nose candy.

Buying games to add to your collection alone is not "supporting" the hobby. Assisting others and sharing knowledge is.

#15317 2 years ago
Quoted from Whysnow:

It is sad and disgusting what so many of you are insinuating regarding the team that worked to put this game together!
I suggest taking a step back and realizing that they are not schilling for a game so they can get paid. If anything they have all been the opposite and have been open about the situation and provided insight to others that may feel left out of the communication loop.
These guys are all first and foremost pinheads and have so much passion that they have been working for free in many cases. They have so much passion and desire to help that they made arrangements to NOT get paid unless the game does well and actually sells. Many of them take payment of an actual game and pennies for the time they put in. Please take a moment to reflect on the reality of this situation and stop attacking your fellow pinheads. If anything you should be supporting them and commending them for their hard work to get the game this far, their passion to keep pinball alive and keep it moving forward, and their willingness to come here and provide info when they are able.
They are all super genuine guys in real life and frankly some of you are being HUGE dbags to them.

Wow Hilton you need to chill. I didn't see any "insinuation" at all, just quoting the fact that Aurich has stated he hasn't been paid yet. That is a fact, nothing more, nothing less. I believe he'll get paid.

Quoted from conester:

After multiple requests and getting the same "hurry up and wait, we promise we are working on getting you a refund" response, I filed a Paypal claim for the $1500 deposit. I still have my $800 out in limbo that I wire transferred for the back box display and the "PDI" glass. Paypal got back to me in about a week and said they decided in my favor on the claim and are giving me my $1500 back. I was tired of waiting for Heighway so I did what I had to do to get my money back! In case anyone is wondering, I put my deposit down on March 11th, so it hasn't been too long. I'm still going to bug Heighway for my $800, but I'm not as confident that I will be able to get that back. Still going to try, but just not as confident...

With that attitude why would they refund your $800. It's your money and you deserve it back if you want it, get confident.

Is there any reason an aftermarket fiber ramp solution can't be made? See Eli's kit and the TLS kit for Tron, both look great and just the same or better than factory.

#19781 1 year ago
Quoted from Aurich:

I'm sure there's no reason, but it looked stupid and like it didn't belong on the game. It was like a bullet point for Andrew to be able to crow about, not something that actually fit and enhanced the game. I wouldn't waste the mod time on it.

Fair enough. So most people are not upset that it is not implemented, more upset that they paid extra for a selling point that didn't make it on the game and they want some money back, right?

Well, in some respects its good to finally stick a fork in this shitshow. It's the last of the old pre pays to go down.
Everybody can just move on now and close this ugly chapter in the book of pinball failure.
It sucks that good people got hurt and a lot of us lost $$$.
Have a drink or three and just "bury the dead, all they do is stink up the joint" Coughlin's law.

Quoted from AndrewH:

Statement From Andrew Heighway
I am truly sorry to hear about the turn of events announced today.
In June 2017 I sold my controlling stake in Heighway Pinball Limited – including its commitments and liabilities - to a group of investors who claimed to want to put significant funds into the company, achieve mass production and deliver part-paid and fully-paid games to customers, as well as new machine sales.
Throughout the five years that I ran the company, we developed and sold games up until the time of my departure. This was never a ponzi scheme, as some have suggested. A mix of technical problems, supplier quality problems and unrealistic timeframes resulted in delays that financially crippled the company. We were all committed to delivering games to all paying customers. I personally apologise for the unrealistic timeframes.
There have been suggestions that I stole or diverted company funds for my own ventures. These are very serious accusations and never once have I been interviewed by the police for any alleged wrongdoings. The company’s accountants have never suggested any wrongdoings by me. It can be proven that the company owed me significant monies and not the other way round. I would therefore advise people to refrain from making any libellous or slanderous statements about me – as I will defend myself and my integrity.
I very much regret that the company’s owners have closed the company without honouring its commitments to all paying customers and I wish everyone the best in pursuing their claims against the investors or via the insolvency practitioners.
This situation has appalled me and I am extremely sorry for the anguish that it will inevitably cause.
Andrew Heighway

Whenever you talk all I hear is blah blah blah how can I lie and scam people out of more money. You are a fool and a coward.
