sorry for being lazy but there's a million posts in here. how much will this cost and when will it be shipping?

#1490 5 years ago
Quoted from Frax:

Too lazy to visit their website for a price? One has to question if you're actually serious.
Ship date hasn't been announced.

Looks like "one" has questioned. Just looking for answers, not an assessment of my intentions bud...

#1491 5 years ago
Quoted from Aurich:

No ship date at this point.
Standard is $6300
LE is $8050

Thanks Aurich. Seems right in line with the other manufacturers pricing and based on the feedback I read on full throttle along with the theme and design layout this could be my first NIB.

That was way faster than I would have expected. Another set of hands swapping out the artwork while you are disconnecting the playfield and you're probably a little over two minutes.

found it. looks pretty darn cool. this will be my first NIB

#2603 4 years ago
Quoted from Aurich:

Here's the shot map and a clearer photo. There are actually a fair amount of changes, more shots, and more flow. The shot map came out a bit ago, so this isn't Expo news, just the physical whitewood.
Alien Shot Map
Alien Whitewood
Edit: also, I should note that the whitewood is still in a testing phase. So beyond just not having ramps yet, there are other things. Like the standups on the right are temporary, those are going to be drop targets.

that is awesome...

#2665 4 years ago
Quoted from Wickerman2:

It's motorcycles...what's wrong with motorcycles? Last I checked all those boomer viagra ads etc. featured mid life crisis guys hopping on a bike and hitting the road. Pinball guys aren't motorcycle guys? No idea. There's lots of manly talk on pinside, I bet some of those keyboard commandos own a bike. Or is it a stern hangover because it's not a movie theme?

i'd prefer an original motorcycle theme over a licensed rock band, wrestling or tv show theme any day of the week. i feel the same about most movie themes too. alien would be one where the movie theme makes it more desirable to me

Quoted from bobukcat:

Aliens is so full of great lines, most by Hudson (Paxton)... "Maybe you haven't been keeping up with current events but we just got our asses kicked, pal!"

it would be cool to not hear cute one-liners in this game actually. these are sci-fi/horror movies. if i want to laugh I watch comedies.

#2690 4 years ago
Quoted from Yipykya:

Agreed. Stick to only the original cute one-liners found in the movies themselves.

no cute one liners at all would get my vote

#2703 4 years ago
Quoted from Aurich:

It won't be a "funny" game, I can tell you that.

good. not a single one liner in the first movie which is part of the reason it's on a different level IMO. aliens was a good movie too but just plain action, suspense and fear would have made it better imo.

#2712 4 years ago
Quoted from wcbrandes:

I think congo has the midnight madness which is just so very cool especially when you don't know about it.

interesting. i just got congo and midnight happened for what appeared to be no apparent reason. i don't know the rules though. is that the deal?

#2713 4 years ago
Quoted from Aurich:

Utterly disagree, but everyone has their own take on things.
Our guide is the films, as they were made, and that's the only way I'd do it, because I love these movies. We're making a pinball, not a movie, and we'll adjust as needed, but when it doubt, the tone of the films is what will light the way.

understood and agreed. if each mode captures the essence of each film it will be awesome. gotta be tough to not have one be better than the other but I know you can do it. this theme along with everything I have seen so far has me jacked. i think you guys are going to knock it out of the park

#2716 4 years ago
Quoted from jawjaw:

Clock is not set to correct time is all.

so in order to get midnight madness i have to have the clock set correctly and be playing when it strikes midnight? This question looks ridiculous but I am gonna let it fly!

#2823 4 years ago
Quoted from Aurich:

The reality is it's a new model. Pin2K flirted with it, but the swapping was harder, there were only two games, the second one sucked, and it wasn't aimed at a dual collector/op market.
So effectively we just don't know how people are going to treat this. Heighway needs to build up a catalog. When it's more than just Full Throttle and Alien I think that it will be more enticing, because it could end up being the cheapest way to get a bunch of high quality games.
Would anyone be surprised if more Full Throttle "kits" were sold to Alien owners than standalone Full Throttles?

i have been tossing all of this around and now leaning toward just getting the two complete games. a 4000.00 kit sitting in my shop is not as appealing as having two kickass games lit up in my gameroom for the extra 2000-2500. love the fact that there's a choice though.

#2842 4 years ago
Quoted from rai:

Aurich, know your not in charge, but a more complete playing video even with no art would go a long way to helping me decide, need to see the shots and ramps, the early white wood was very basic, no ramps even.

I'm sure they will do that when they can then you, along with the rest of the folks who would need that, can decide...

Quoted from MK6PIN:

As Andrew referenced above...he has shared certain elements of the game on a private basis....he was kind enough to Skype me a few weeks ago, to share some pics, talk about (see) some of the toys, and some screen shot stuff they were working on (getting approved).
I couldn't (wouldn't) screen capture anything, as I knew it wouldn't be right, being the actual release would come from Heighway, and FOX hadn't signed off on what could be shown yet. What I can share (I know it's vague mainly due to my memory...it was late):
a) Playfield looked amazing...elements of both films present, very dark and luminous looking/ feeling...I couldn't zoom in on it, but overall it appeared very professional and well laid out. Wish I could remember more, but he was showing me so much, it was on and off the screen pretty quick.
b) Custom molded eggs on the pops are RGB and look SICK!!!.. certain modes of the game will make them look lifelike on the inside.
c) Beacons on topper looked way bigger and more powerful (lightwise) than I expected.....
d) One of the toys he described was a xenomorph that would launch the inner mouth out and grab the ball w a magnet. located at back of playfield, firing straight out at the player!!!
e) The thing that got me the most - SCREEN IMAGES!!!!.....there were tracker images, facehugger scenes, battle scenes, and other stuff that actually interacted w gameplay modes....hence the NEED TO GET THE BIG SCREEN!!! I don't care if it mirrors playfield or not initially (he did say they were working on the 3rd video output). To watch a facehugger come crawling out of the egg on the backbox?!?! Really?!?......a definite no brainer......
My takeaway after seeing all of this and talking w Andrew.....this is going to be a very theme heavy, well engineered and thought out pin.....playfield looked great, everything was mindblowing ........
Sorry I can't be more specific...had to absorb a lot in the 20 minutes he shared with me.....very happy I'm in...the passion he has for this title is off the charts!!!!......mark

good stuff. sounds awesome!

Quoted from xTheBlackKnightx:

I am sure somebody from PinSide bought one in preparation for a game that has not been produced yet.
"Look at me, I am the cool guy"!
Watch, wait, and see.
It would hard pressed to be used as a topper unless someone uses it with vaulted ceilings and cable wiring directed downward scaring people as they play, but I am sure somebody will try and then install a billion Christmas tree LEDS on it.
I mean peope are already installing full size half bodies of CFTBL, Dracula, and Wolfman on their games.
As someone on this forum (not this thread) once said, "I vote with my wallet".

Quoted from kaneda:

It's simple: FTH only has appeal in Europe where motorcycle racing exists. Nobody in the states cares. Haunted House? That's a universal theme. There are ghosts everywhere!!!!!

hahaha. where does he come up with this stuff? there's gotta be an ejection seat button here somewhere...

#3159 4 years ago
Quoted from kaneda:

I'm not saying nobody in the states cares, but man, that is probably one of the least watched sports in America, no? Compare it to other sports here. That's all I'm saying man. And more people have experienced pinball in America than MOTOGP. Way more.

Where are your supporting numbers? Why do you think just because motorcycle racing isn't that popular that this cool ass pin wont sell? I have an indy 500, shadow, sttng. I don't watch any of that stuff. Still bought the machines though. I did watch BSD but it was after I got the game. Decent movie but no impact whatsoever on how I feel about the game. These arguments may apply to how you FEEL but with regards to actual facts your statements seem empty.

#3161 4 years ago
Quoted from kaneda:

Sharing an article that MOTOGP drew a 1/4 million fans doesn't prove that it's more popular than pinball. This is a dumb argument as you can't prove it either way. What I can guarantee is that FTH will not sell many units in America. Who wants to bet they don't sell 500 machines here?

you can't guarantee that. shit makes me laugh man...

#3162 4 years ago
Quoted from kaneda:

Ok, back to Alien. Minus Fox approving stuff, when is this pin now slated to ship? Not reveal. Ship.

define slated for us please. I thought I read somewhere that Andrew anticipated it to start production in april/may time frame.

#3166 4 years ago
Quoted from kaneda:

Let's just cut this argument lose. If people think more American's are into MOTOGP than Pinball, fine. I don't think you could prove which one is more popular. But as a theme for Pinball, it's not very popular. Not sure how that's even a debate.

print this out then go stand in front of the mirror and read it out loud to yourself. you can't see it can you?

#3167 4 years ago
Quoted from kaneda:

Of course I can make a bet that 500 FTH don'ts make it to America. Wanna make that bet?

I dont have facts in front of me so no I don't bet. I am not going to sling around erroneous and unsupported guarrantees either. My argument with you is you predicting/guarranteeing sales of a machine based on what you feel to be a bad theme.

How did you feel about centaur when it came out? Wait hold on let me put on my Kaneda helmet "well you know there's not a preponderance of man-beast-motorcycle hybrids here in the states and that tells me that..."

#3204 4 years ago
Quoted from Jeekayjay:

...but no, just Kaneda toying with people.

lol. is that what you have deduced from all that?

#3220 4 years ago
Quoted from Rarehero:

You can't compare old games with questionable themes to new games with questionable themes. We're all buying old games used, which means a few things:
-Price is "low" compared to
new games
-Games are "retro", so we're forgiving of 90's cheese.
-Games have a gameplay reputation, which overrides bad themes.
People don't have much of a chance to play a new game like Full Throttle before buying, and the price of a NIB game is high - so theme and presentation matter.
Would we all buy a used Full Throttle for $1500 like an Indy500? Of course! But that's not what we're talking about....we're talking about NEW. Theme matters 100% on new. Theme makes people drop $6000-8000.

i do understand your point on the price difference but i'm still not seeing what is wrong with that theme as compared to what stern is pumping out for NIB sales. games based on tv shows, rock bands etc. are automatically eliminated from consideration as a NIB purchase for me. why would I want a game of thrones when I have never seen the show? i don't particularly care for ac/dc or metallica either and to a far greater extent kiss. that stuff is just not gonna be in my gameroom. i think the original theme full throttle is far more universal and appealing but I might be in the minority. With regards to gameplay reputation somebody bought those old games when they were new

#3239 4 years ago
Quoted from Maken:

Kits are supposedly going to be 60% of the cost of a full game.

love the swap idea but from what I have seen and read so far i'm thinking/hoping that rather than have a spare 3600 kit laying around I might just want full versions of both games.

#4757 4 years ago
Quoted from Expletive:

I still think the artwork here is pretty average. I mean sure, it might be better than some of Stern's recent offerings, but that isn't saying much. I was hoping for a lot more given the theme and the dedication that we were expecting from those involved. I don't want to hear about "licensing restrictions" because it's just a cop out. In other words, I am not interested in placing blame on anyone in particular, including Fox.
Bottom line for me, it just doesn't come close to knocking it out of the park like I was hoping. It's more like a lead off base hit. I'm hoping that when I see it in person and populated with all the plastics, toys, mechs, and RGB lighting in the inserts, those items will constitute at least a double, resulting in the runner from first scoring a run.

eeeeeeasssy there buddy. you make it sound like you are on some type of decision making committee. I'm guessing you are not. Your first paragraph was classic. Every sentence begins with the letter I. "i'm" guessing.... they don't really care what you think.

Quoted from EchoVictor:

Andrew,
I know this is late in the game, but a bit of advice/request/need....
Just downloaded the Pinball FX2 Aliens table last night and played it a bunch. This is the first time they've ever used actual movie quotes instead of sound-alikes, and it made a world of difference. If they can get the rights to the actual call-outs, so can you.
However, while playing there was something wrong, something that felt totally off. I wasn't playing "ALIENS", I was playing a close facsimilie of it. What was wrong?
The Music.
I am asking you now, your ALIENS pinball absolutely MUST have the original James Horner score (and preferrably the Jerry Goldsmith one from the original ALIEN). It is vital for setting the mood of the films. Just listen;
» YouTube video
Please, please make it happen.
Thanks,
EV

if the game could start with the with the opening background/score of the first movie as you see the nostromo floating there that would be way cool. that is the first thing that comes to mind when I think of the elements that made that movie so cool. here's a neat video about the music in the movie. there's not a lot of face paced violent music. just kinda creepy

Don't they have an app that lets you send an message and video to people to view for a few hours before it disappears? Why couldn't Andrew shoot a few videos and have them on hand to send upon request? I am seriously wondering what the hold up is since they evidentally are not restricted from showing anything to people at shows. Why not add an electronic option at the same time Has anybody seen pics of complete Alien prototype with art? "That is something I would love to see" said Captain Obvious.

andrew already updated the thread within the last 48 hours. wtf is so hard to digest?

#5770 4 years ago
Quoted from bane:

I'm not sure why all of the praise for Heighway pinball regarding the half $&@ed "update".
If it is feasible to show things at trade shows, it is surely possible to form some sort of Internet group for those who have deposits down on the game to show progress.
I am in on an LE since 7/15. I emailed Heighway about this more than 6 months ago. No response for months. Then got an email that told me . . . nothing I didn't already know from this website.
I expect something from the company I paid a significant amount of money to. I am tired of trying to find out info on a website unaffiliated with Heighway.
I want the game, but am about to cut bait. There are many other games out there that look fun and can be bought now.
Heighway, if you are reading this: give those with a deposit down an exclusive update. It would show you value those who are risking money on your company. If not, give me my money back.

#5773 4 years ago
Quoted from bane:

Ad hominem.
If you have info the rest of us don't about this game, please share.

not sure which part of this you're not absorbing:

"Hi everyone,
I want to give you all an update.
The official line from Fox is that we can't publicly show videos until the game has been approved as a whole. I will continue to show teasers, privately, at shows until then.
There's a chance we will be at 2 U.S. shows next month so I'll let you all know if that happens. Alien won't (can't) be shown until it is finished.
At our last team meeting, we all agreed on a schedule that should see Alien Pinball complete by mid August. Pending approval by Fox of the finished game, then we expect to start production in September.
We all love what we are doing with this game and it's frustrating not to be able to show you our progress. There is another argument that when you all see the finished promo video, then it will be exactly what we want to show you - rather than prototype videos at various stages of development.
We apologise if this disappoints anyone but we are nearly there now. All should become clear within a few months"

please share....
"

That part. Show it privately, in some fashion, with all those invested in the project.

Looks like Andrew effectively reiterated what their position has been the entire time. Maybe it will sink in this time....

#5800 4 years ago
Quoted from rubberducks:

You seem a little slow on the uptake. Fox have expressly forbade them from distributing media related to the unfinished game, and Andrew just stated as much. Yet you and others continue to ignore this and call for them to breach contract and at best piss the licensor off and at worst lose the license and get sued. What's wrong with you?

lol. right.

"we can't share the video to the public as it is prohibited by the licensor and we don't want to risk losing the license this far in"

"ok great can you share it now then?"

#5803 4 years ago
Quoted from PoMC:

After all this waiting to see something, I used my money for a first NIB pin for a Game of Thrones that I should be playing next week.

good plan. when alien comes out you can just sell that and replace it. probably an easy sale and you can buy it back later.

Yeah its almost like the Mods should lock the thread til Aug to prevent this sorta thing. We have learned little about Alien pinball and seen even less in this thread. When we do get the reveal is when the thread will add value. Until then .. it is officially wasting everybody's time. So who's to say one person's nonsensical posts are any better than the next guy's. We are all on a raft floating in the ocean and have nothing but vast amounts of time on our hands. We should take every effort to make the best of our time together as we drift and wait, and wait and wait. I am spending my time thinking about trains right now.
To answer your question, we got pinball rules and Pinballrulz is here to stay. The home brew Archer thread has shown a real shooting Whitewood vid with rules and sounds and toys in a real cabinet. That's exciting and its not even an official pin yet.

how long did it take you to compose this message about wasting time on this thread?

some people just cant resist even after the guy they are defending asks them to stop. be cool to somehow clean all the bullshit out of this thread, including my attempts at defending highway, and just get the relevant information/timeline that way when someone new comes it's all right there.

I'm glad they didn't put actor's pics on the playfield. That always looks stupid. Looks good to me the way it is.

i couldnt agree more. I have tron and dirty harry next to each other both are cool enough to pull it off but would be cooler without it. especially tron where they are just kinda lined up and looking at you.

Quoted from Aurich:

Okay, as promised, here's an updated CAD file. I tried to put in some labels just to give it context. I am not an expert on the physical layout, since I have yet to see the game in person, I'll answer what questions I can.
The new shot Dave added that I was talking about is on the right. Vent 2 used to just return to the flipper lane. Now instead it feeds back out to the right flipper. Sort of a cross between the mini loop shot on Full Throttle and the flipper return on Indiana Jones I think.
The ball now launches up a wireform, sort of like Shadow is how I think of it, again haven't seen it. I think those are the obvious changes. The LCD screen is for illustrative purposes only, but shows how the motion tracker interface might look during one of the multiballs.
I left the slingshot plastics in, that should give you a rough idea for the facehugger mounting.
The Pinside preview gets compressed, click to enlarge and see it larger with no compression artifacts.

totally awesome. i will be buyin this thing up one side, down the other. buyin' one up good 'n proper.

What about the fact that games are different in each location? Not just software setting for difficulty, but pitch and even how well the games are maintained. The remote tournament thing on different tables always sounds like it has issues.

that is likely a big factor on why it's not being done on the production line. there are no level playing fields to work with. if you want trophys play video games.

More Newt? Really? I cant take anymore as time and again this thread has proven that this title is in incompetent hands. Who gives a shit about Newt? If she was left out of this pin I wouldn't care at all, who the hell associates the Aliens films with Newt? Lets keep it in the adult realm please, Sci Fi Horror. Newt

she was an impactful element in aliens but hopefully it will be done tastefully limiting the references/callouts. we dont need another Amy. I am confident it will be done the right way based on what I have seen from this group at heighway so far

Quoted from AlexSMendes:

1. why do you say that? I don't see any relation... please, explain to me.

1. you just like congo because you are from brazil
Explanation: it's really just a joke, laced with rainforest imagery, that demonstrates my ignorance with regards to the congo being, or not-being in brazil.

2. "Let's make amendes"
Explanation: A play on your name used in an american phrase "let's make amends" (http://www.dictionary.com/browse/make--amends)
in an effort to prey on your unfamiliarity with american phrases thus causing those familiar with the phrase to laugh at your expense.

No plunger is a major disappointment as that's one of the things that makes a pinball machine a pinball machine. The Heighway website still shows plungers on the standard and LE cabinets. Quoted from nman:

That's correct, she was on board for that which makes me extra-sad that it was shelved for Prometheus 2. Everything I'd read about it made it sound awesome and Neill Blomkamp is a fantastic director who seems to really "get" what people would want in a sequel. Ridley, on the other hand, saw a lackluster response to Prometheus and said "Hey, let's do that again." i didn't outright hate Prometheus and I'm hopeful the sequel will be better, but i just don't see them as ever being in the same league as what Blomkamp was working on for various reasons.

i just watched aliens again the other night having watched prometheus a few weeks ago. aliens ends up a good overall movie but the back and forth tough guy talk and the attempt to bring humor into it detracted from the overall experience. plot is awesome though. I bought the box blue ray set and have seen alien probably 40 times. not sure what to expect from the 3rd and fourth movies. btw I thought prometheus was really good.

#8804 3 years ago
Quoted from SadSack:

For all you guys who think this "kit" ideas is good.. How do you store the kit that is not in use? Does it have a special box? I just can't see how cheaping out on a full game and a kit is a good fit for the kind of people who buy brand new pinball machines for home use. Can someone point me to a thread where this has been hashed out? I really want to learn how this is NOT one of those ideas that sounds good on paper but not so much IRL.

not sure why this post got down voted 4 times. this is a very valid question in my opinion as I have tried to visualize not only the swap out but the storage and the fact that I now have 4400.00 worth of unusable kit sitting around potentially waiting to get damaged. My inclination is to store the playfield...in its own cabinet, right next to a complete full throttle.

#8841 3 years ago
Quoted from Aurich:

Because it's been answered over and over probably. It's a long thread, people miss things, but the regulars are tired of the same questions I'd guess.
To answer it:
Playfield kits are supposed to ship in their own crate, that's designed to slide under your pin for storage. Take new playfield out, put old playfield in.
I have no idea if if the idea will take off, way too early to tell. But that's what you can do with the game you took out.
» YouTube video

thanks man. it is tough sifting through 175+ pages even if you know how to use certain functions. in my opinion it would be better if heighway had the ability to have everything on their site but i'm sure there's reasons for that. Thanks again for the video.

After so many people hated Prometheus I can't pass any kind of judgement on Covenant because I loved Prometheus and prefer Alien to Aliens so if the film is more cerebral than action packed I'm all for it.

I agree with this 100%. Comparing a sequel (aliens) thats action packed like a marvel comics offering to one of the all time great sci-fi suspense/horror films (probably the greatest in Alien) is really kind of ridiculous. Oh yeah lets throw in an all-star 80's cast that includes Paul fuggin Reiser to boot. Good grief. Not a bad sequel but wtf are people thinking? Prometheus was awesome too. I am hoping the new film stacks up to that.
