Quoted from Whysnow:I do believe the change is coming for heighway to a 2 coin door WITH a DBV. We are game #41 so I am still OK with cutting them a little slack. They did reengineer the trough to be positioned differently so a DBV will fit (at least that is how I understand it). Lats I was told, Alien will come with a door that accepts a DBV.
I think coins are the more common thing in UK so I can understand them not having them at the start. Heighway has been AMAZING about making adjustments so I am sure this is something that will happen also.
Whysnow, this is a problem for me as well, especially since I have the game set on $1 a game, takes forever to dump all those quarters in.
When I spoke with Heighway about some of my issues, I mentioned this. They told me that they are aware of the issue and are currently working on getting new doors for us US folks that has a dollar bill acceptor. They said this was probably still 3-4 weeks out though.
I was originally going to use a dremel and cut a hole out, but there isn't a way to even wire up the bill acceptor currently, which is why they are working on a new door. I would just hold out for a few more weeks instead of trying to order a new door, I fear you will still have the problem of having no way to hook it up. Just my .02
Quoted from rubberducks:- I wasn't aware, but Heighway have moved on from custom ARM based boards to an Intel x86 processor and board. At a guess, more expensive, but they're not going to have any supplier issues if they can buy completely generic off the shelf parts. Also, long, long into the future, and well past the point of being supported, obtaining replacement parts or an entirely new computer shouldn't be too much of an issue.
Wow, changing the architecture of the primary computer entirely.
Andrew, will this have any affect on us original Full Throttle owners looking to buy swap kits for future games? This makes it sound like we now have old, outdated hardware that will be very difficult to support in the future.
Quoted from smokedog:My Full Throttle was down on location for 2 months due to software corruption. That stunk. I miss the game but I am relieved it sold for asking price.
Yep, mine as well. Power driver failures, coil failures, those special inductive switch failures, two playfield screen failures, and software corruption that was never rectified. Sold mine for a $500 hit and was happy. Shame though, when the game did work, it was a blast to play, almost everyone that played mine on location said the same.
Quoted from earflaps:I got one of the more recent production FT machines, upgraded the software compliments of Helmut and have never had a problem...touch wood.
Nice, which number is yours? Mine was number 43. Did you make sure to check all your fuses on your IO board? They liked to send those out from the factory wrong, which could cause lots of nice longterm damage, but nothing you can immediately pinpoint.
