Quoted from Cheeks:

I would be hesitant being too close to the front of any new production run. Just about any game released these days you end up seeing the early adopters having to retrofit fixes that the later machines come with. I'm not keeping up with the Stern releases, but this happened with both JJP games, Spooky, and it certainly will happen with Heighway as well. It's the price for being one of the first to get one.

Very true.

So ... uhm ... we ordered an Alien SE and it's going straight on location

There's something very wrong in all those pictures of Alien boxes being loaded into trucks: None of them are marked "Norway". I expect this horrible mistake to be looked into right away.

Quoted from Astropin:

How many SE's will be shipping next week?

...and out of those, how many to Norway?

Nice review on TWIP!

About dislike #5: "The example TWIP played showed some wear and scratches on the playfield screen. Granted this example had over 1,000 plays." I'll be putting this on location, and "over 1,000 plays" will hopefully be reached quite quickly. Maybe this has been covered before, but:

1) Is the screen cover easy to replace?
2) Has anyone considered or tried putting mylar on the screen area? Cheaper to replace a mylar sheet than a screen cover, is my thought here.

Quoted from MK6PIN:

Regardless, I doubt that many bought a Standard, as the pricing early on wouldn't have warranted it, vs LE.

I also doubt many people bought the SE, but I opted for SE at the time (just about this time last year) not based on price/value, but simply because I didn't like the look of the fiber lighting on the ramps.

Quoted from greenhornet:

the game, as it is laid out, "LACKS QUALITY FEEDS TO THE UPPER FLIPPERS". if you want to consider that an opinion rather than an observable fact. be my guest.

I'd say that it lacks (relative) _quantity_ feeds. Whether this is good or bad, is a matter of opinion. Your opinion has been made very clearly, though you portray it as fact. Others' opinions have been equally clearly presented.

Quoted from calprog:

They are not responding to me anymore.

Same here. We have paid in full for an SE; no response on either email or Facebook. Since there is nothing to indicate that we'll ever get a game, we're currently looking into how to properly file a statutory demand against a UK entity. Not the way we wanted this to pan out, obviously, but lesson learned...

By the way, I wonder: Who are the ones in charge at Heighway these days? I notice that Alexander Spohr (one of the investors in the "new management") lists on his LinkedIn profile that he is no longer a board member after March 2018.

Quoted from delt31:

If someone reliable can deliver this game with proper support you're talking runaway success

Not if those someone are the ones who currently own Heighway Pinball Ltd. Too much baggage from this fiasco to get going in this small and fickle industry, I suspect.

The only way Pinball Brothers could possibly survive, would be if they as first priority made whole on all promises given to customers and other creditors by Heighway Pinball. In which case the transfer to the new company is nothing more than a name change. Which, truth be told, is not a bad idea on its own...

#21211 5 years ago
Quoted from ForceFlow:

no reason to honor

I disagree, but the reason would not be legal obligations, but to gain enough goodwill among potential customers to actually have a chance in hell of surviving as a company.

#21233 5 years ago

Happy? I would not be happy. I would sell the machine at first chance, and never buy another game from any company which any of the owners are involved in, as could never trust them again. Tainted forever.

#21374 5 years ago

I honestly don't doubt that Roger & co are the ones who have lost the most money in this mess. Still, I am not impressed by their way of handling business, so have precious little sympathy. Good luck to all actual Alien owners; hopefully Pinball Brothers won't fleece you too horribly when you need spare parts in the future.

Doesn't look like Pinball Brothers Ltd will be around much longer. According to Companies House the company is due to be dissolved in about 3 weeks:

Of course they may choose to challenge the strike-off notice. We'll see.
