Andy did a closed room reveal yesterday at the UK Pinball Party. No pictures allowed.

Was a real 'wow' moment, seeing the cabinet for the first time. Artwork on side panels and translight is just beautiful. Of course, the side panels on Heighway pins are also back lit, and this works to tremendous effect with the crisp starfield background.

Rotating beacons on the topper were present, and the effect is just chilling. Perfectly captures the effects during the end of Aliens and can imagine them adding greatly to the atmosphere during play

Andy showed us some of the custom moulds too. A translucent egg, painted, and then under lit with four addressable RGB LEDs. This allows effects to be shown, such as a creature moving within the egg. Have to admit i was sceptical when i first heard this at Pinburgh, but having now seen the effect i must confess it is very effective.

Custom mould of the alien queen is also to a very high standard, and fans on the films will not be disappointed. These aren't cheap toy models that other manufacturers might use.

Finally, some footage of the development game modes, demonstrated using virtual pin. Andy did warn that a lot of this was still in progress and liable to change. We saw that the start of the game allows selection of either Alien, or Aliens game modes. The Alien modes includes things such as ' rescue Jonesy', crawling through the tunnels and what looked like some timed modes, such as the self destruct sequence. Was impressed at just how closely these managed to capture the mood and atmosphere of the films.

This was a seriously impressive reveal. Very excited to see what comes next!

Translight was mainly egg, framed with Geigeresque art, all in green hue. Translight and side panels both had the classic ALIEN logo.

This was, I understand, the standard model artwork. I got the impression LE buyers got an additional alternate art package.. But wait for official word from Andy on that. Maybe I misunderstood, seems exceptionally generous if true!

Quoted from Yipykya:

Geeze it was less than 30 minutes between the crappy flyer reveal and Aurich's post of a high definition playfield image. You make it sound like it was such a travesty. Try to lighten up dude.

As much as I disagree with how the troll kaneda worded it, I do agree with the point. First counts.

I posted the amateur version of this to a Facebook feed, and then 30 minutes later posted the high res version. Guess which one is taking all the likes, comments, shares and getting the most publicity? Yep, the amateur one...

Anyway, all publicity is good publicity It's a really nice piece of work Aurich

Quoted from Wolfanoz:

If you guys havent played this, you owe it to yourselves to... it's very well done. Can't wait for the Zen game either.

Wasn't that virtual table made by one of the guys on the Heighway team? Pretty sure I'm right, but not sure if it was Russell or Dave

Quoted from j_m_:

and this is exactly why I'm really starting to get annoyed with this hobby.
imagine a company like baskin robbins started to promote a new ice cream flavor...

lol, stop right there. You're comparing a $2 ice cream to a multi-thousand dollar luxury product? You must surely be aware that other luxury brands follow this exact same pattern? Tesla motors for example announcing the model 3 in March of this year, with product expected to ship in late 2017 (almost 2 years)?

There have also been multiple reveals along the way. We've seen cabinet and playfield art, models used in the game, discussions on rules, music and sound effects... In just a few more weeks we should see the final product

Andrew very generously donated some copies of the translite artwork for us (Northern Lights Pinball in the UK) to raise money for charity. We've just listed the last one on to eBay now and would love to see it raising a good amount for the Teenage Cancer Trust, to help kids battling this terrible disease.

If you're as excited as we are about seeing the final product, please consider a generous bid! :

Quoted from flippersandballs:

I'm trying to think of industries where customers put up thousands of dollars then wait months or years for delivery of a product. There must be others but I can't come up with any.
