Isn't it "tonight" in the UK now?

Quoted from benheck:If the playfield turns out to be a disappointment and doesn't make sense they could always re-theme it to "Prometheus"
Liked that movie.
What other industry gives you anything close to periodic updates? Internet is full of whining whiners that proactively look for whining opportunities. Whiner.
Don't preorder...problem solved. Then you wont feel you are owed updates from a private company.
Quoted from roffels:Has there been any word on pricing for the new playfield kit?
60% is the preliminary price.
Quoted from rai:US shipping
You pay for shipping from Chicago only as I understand it.
Quoted from RyanStl:If I was able to make it work with Heighway I wouldn't bother with LE and just get a standard cab and take advantage of interchangeable games.
I am picturing the Alien swap in a black standard Full Throttle...
Quoted from forensicd:Anyone know how much shipping is here to the US for these?
You pay shipping from Chicago only.
Quoted from Aurich:took just under 3 and a half minutes.
Yeah, but if Alien has a plunger that will add, like 5 more minutes....8 minutes? Not sure I have that kind of patience.
Quoted from dmbjunky:I noticed that playfield banging onto the cabinet as well.
I'll take that one...I'm not big on cabinet perfection.
Quoted from Kevlar:Have they actually priced the Playfield packages?
they keep throwing out 60% of full game price as their guess
Quoted from Plungemaster:Maybe highway gives us a new footballpin
A new Dr. WHO would be nice.
Quoted from mesmashu:One time I bit into an apple and it had a worm in it. Fuck apples, they suck and they all have worms! Definitely not for human consumption.
As an apple eater, I am "concerned" about this...
Plus ship...so essentially another new full blown wide body game--playfield, translite, side panels for less than the price of a stern pro with no service rails
Quoted from paul_8788:I felt the ending was a bit weak.
Same here...great until end
Quoted from underlord:I'm looking for relevant Alien pinball updates
I think a fully functioning prototype will be at Chicago Expo....
Quoted from BoozeMarlin:Remind me again what Heighway estimates the interchangeable tables to cost.
60% of full cost...will look great dropped in to a black standard Full Throttle
Quoted from MK6PIN:Somebody bring a camera....PLEASE!!!
hide it in the chicken wings
Quoted from underlord:I'll be disappointed if Andrew just pimps his FT pins
They just started production and shipping on them so stands to reason that's their main focus...logically speaking
Quoted from bigbadmiker:educated guess for one?
a year later than they expect seems to be the average for all these machines...
Quoted from PinballRulez:Hoping to receive my FT in about 6 weeks. Very excited about it
Same here...should be able to get in plenty of games before that Alien playfield kit arrives.
Quoted from MK6PIN:This type of thing might be applied across the board
Right, not sure where you draw the line though...every thread turns in to a discussion. The EM CL thread is mostly discussion and not actual CL offerings. Seems like just type Heighway in to the "show posts from pinsider" box and you have the problem solved for those that it bothers.
Quoted from way2wyrd:Full screen option for the backbox.
%#!* would've liked to know that before I popped for the backbox LCD already in Full Throttle....this will be an option and supported for all their games?
Quoted from Yipykya:Whose to say you need to install the backbox at all, save for mounting the speakers some where.
They could go where the backbox was...angled towards player.
Quoted from jwo825:fuzzy cabinet shot.
I bet that looks WAY better "in person" with the side panel lit.
Quoted from jwo825:I thought the light up windows were out.
That's their whole system--swap panels/playfield/translite...unless they are "out" on an LE..which I missed
Quoted from Aurich:as much as the big LCD screen kinda jacks up my art
Wouldn't the default static image be the art?
and if there's a giant LCD that can display animations, one would assume besides showing the standard art, it would transform in to most of the other images people are wanting to see...right?
Quoted from TimeBandit:Yes, attract mode ain't no static translite.
wonder how the Fox approval works on that...let them approve an egg translite and then the programmers put in 10 other images when you have the LCD option
Quoted from Aurich:Video and static art are really two different beasts.
and if there is no translite essentially, there is no static art in that area at least...seems like the worries about the egg are moot in that case and we'll just have to wait on the animations and how that all shakes out.
Quoted from PinballRulez:I think the big LCD makes the small LCD in the backbox obsolete?
I really would like to know this as I have the small LCD on order and that could be a waste of money.
You would think...like to hear from Heighway on that after dropping $350 for a factory fit one...
Quoted from way2wyrd:Andrew stated you can keep the small or upgrade to the big for what ever the difference is. Not determined yet on price but his guesstimate was reasonable
What? Its one or the other,
This would be more of a concern for Full Throttle owners/expectant owners...the upgrade option--if they already have the small
Quoted from Hazoff:Yeah, no way the small and large LCD is on the backbox simultaneously, is everyone but me on something powerful today?
They showed it that way at Expo and this is mainly coming from Full Throttle owners that have a small already...we get it.
Quoted from Pinstein:A big goose egg and a kitty cat. This is not turning into the title I had hoped it would be.
Quoted from Silver:I saw a fair amount of what's planned at the factory during the UK Pinball Party and, if they pull it off, it will be very impressive.
so, what was it? you can't say that just to name drop...spill it!
Quoted from golfingdad1:that's just it pf has not been revealed as of yet I believe
there are whitewood examples---search whitewood within thread
Quoted from accidental:I can't imagine why in the world they would remove the playfield screen
like it...you don't look up that much during game. makes sense.
Quoted from Aurich:I think Andrew hoped the Moto GP theme will be more globally popular
It's motorcycles...what's wrong with motorcycles? Last I checked all those boomer viagra ads etc. featured mid life crisis guys hopping on a bike and hitting the road. Pinball guys aren't motorcycle guys? No idea. There's lots of manly talk on pinside, I bet some of those keyboard commandos own a bike. Or is it a stern hangover because it's not a movie theme?
Quoted from accidental:I think it's not just the motorcycle theme but the art direction. It doesn't look badass.
Seems like it's an approachable game/theme for location. Non-pinball lunatics can understand, "let's race motorcycles"...really complex, random themes were theoretically one of the downfalls of pinball if you believe that kind of thing.
Quoted from emkay:AMA District 6 guy weighing in, would love to see a strong mx themed pin but probably in the minority. Can't get much traction with riders either but hey, I keep hoping.
Pretty sure there's a motocross/dirt bike mode on Full Throttle, small part of it but it's in there
Quoted from jwilson:clock starts to drift pretty significantly
This thread is starting to drift...
Quoted from Aurich:has been submitted to Fox
let me make a few calls..see if we can move this along
Quoted from PinballRulez:I have seen the (unapproved) playfield and if you want to go for the LE
playfield art is same on all versions, no?
Quoted from PinBalt:Does anyone have a link detailing the size dimensions of the Heighway pinball machine? I am trying to ensure I can fit it into the room
search "height" within this thread, it's there
Quoted from PinBalt:Not sure if the backglass can be separated from the cabinet.
Yes, head comes separate...if that helps?
Quoted from Sticky:These should be more compact length wise I would think due to not having the traditional backglass/box setup.
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/full-throttle-in-the-mother-fn-house
Check the pics and assembly...the machine will be very similar in size to others if not the same in length. The head is thinner but sits back and lines up with the back of other games it appears.
Quoted from bane:Not getting responses from Heighway (via email) to questions about game progression. Given recent history of prepay pinball, I find this disconcerting. Deposit on LE game more than 3 months ago.
Pull the rip cord!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously though, read the thread. This new machine business is painfully slow for some reason. It would have to be an elaborate scheme to steal your money since they have another game out that they are actively promoting. Get your money back and wait until it's done. They won't sell out until they show gameplay and art at least...or buy a Full Throttle now and play it until the Alien playfield is available and drop it in your Full Throttle...lots of choices here.
Quoted from colonel_caverne:Due in week of manufacture: do we know when is about?
Between now and next December...or later
Quoted from Kneissl:Agreed 100% I think the screen on the playfield is great.. Sure you might look up in a stop and go moment and a big screen on the backbox is cool but why bother when everything is down where the ball is.
Between ball countdown of Facehugger bonus kills and what have you...presented in full HD on a 27 inch. I'll take it!
Quoted from Half_Life:Aurich, any news from Fox yet on the artwork?
per Andrew Fox doesn't want anything revealed until the game is "done"...
Quoted from foureyedcharlie:Its time to throw us a bone.....ramps, toys, art, beacons.....anything? Come on its Christmas time.
Major playfield toy: the Cat. Ssssssh. Don't tell Fox.
Quoted from kaneda:Have to imagine Full Throttle orders are not piling in.
yes, you HAVE to imagine that...
Quoted from rai:FTH is selling like hot cakes, 10 Pinsiders own FTH compared to 81 who own AMH
...we've been through this*yawn*. They are sold out of current batch, sold initial batch...it is their FIRST MACHINE and they are selling out!! Do they have sterns production numbers ??? no. But they sell them. As fast. As they. Make them. (shortened the sentences up for you there so they have a chance at breaking through).
PS Are there really 81 AMH's "in the hands" of those pinsiders? I doubt it, but even so when did production on AMH start?
If you think they are so inept and terrible, might as well jump ship on the Alien, right?...see what I did there? I used logic.
Dude. Get. A. Clue.
Quoted from rai:Don't you think if someone has FTH on order they'd put it in their collection?
No. I did not, for example.
Quoted from frolic:it will create sleeper demand for Full Throttle, for people picking up the playfield upgrade. It doesn't need to be a huge hit out of the gates.
This is sort of accepting the bizarre false premise that there is no demand for the game though, but I agree.
The problem is that people are at work and not working the week of the holiday...idle hands are the devils troll baiting nonsense poster....or however that saying goes.
There aren't many pirates in the U.S. yet POTC is popular here...yet in Somalia there aren't ANY pinsiders that own a POTC...
How many Paul Reiser images can we expect in the art? Several, or just a couple?
Spoiler Alert: this will get deleted but word has it they are using a Circus Voltaire-esque spring bobbly that pops up with Paul Reiser's face....bash toy.
a real meeting of the minds here lately
Quoted from rai:I am saying it's not a big selling pin
dude, they JUST started shipping the game!!! 1 small shipment has made it across the pond---and not because of demand, because they JUST started making the effing game. What color is the sky in your world!!!?? It makes ZERO sense to speculate on any numbers at this point.
"Ghostbusters is a failure!!! Zero people on pinside list it in their collection!!!"
Stop
The
Madness
Quoted from cogito:That's what the ignore button is for
Where is the ignore button these days?
Quoted from rcbrown316:i'm still not seeing what is wrong with that theme as compared to what stern is pumping out for NIB sales
It's nonsense. A super fast wide body with an original racing theme....vs whatever crappy movie license comes along with photoshopped pics of the actors on the sling plastics? The argument is just foolish and the guys making it are just doing the usual internet baiting because they are bored.
Quoted from Taxman:owners of RFM that have the SWEP1 playfield and they never swap it in.
I think that is a much bigger project to swap, correct?
Quoted from rubberducks:I really wish I liked the art and cabinet more
Buy an Alien cabinet
Quoted from jkashani:Sorry if this has been covered before.
only a couple times...
Quoted from colonel_caverne:Does it exist a pic of these screens on a FT
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/heighway-pinball-official-pinside-thread/page/13
I thought the "industry standard" was being late by 1 full year ...seriously. Manufacturing things has unexpected delays and getting a pinball out on time is like putting a man on the moon.
PS(?pps?) Don't hold your breath on getting a freebie because you paid up early...ask the MMR people about that.
Quoted from Jgaltr56:can display any artwork or game info
or bar specials... .99c WINGS!!!!
Quoted from jasonvhsp:I don't want to stare and a blank screen when it's turned off.
you stare at your games when they are off?
They've stated that Fox won't let them reveal until completed at this point...so it is what it is. Sometime this year it will be done. Take your money out and then buy back in if you like what you see when you see it. Buying something without ever seeing a pic of it is usually ill-advised anyway. If it's not completed by March I don't see any more of a down side than it not being done now...TPF or not. If you want an Alien pinball machine where else are you going to get an Alien pinball machine?
Quoted from Grinder901:Maybe this sounds dumb but is there a package available where I get a blank or generic cabinet that I can fit Full Throttle, Alien and the following games in? I'd want the large lcd option as well.
Side art and translite swap out with each playfield
Quoted from rubberducks:Is this something you'll consider for the Alien LE, or as an upgrade?
Seems like you should get the translite included even if you get the big LCD, actually especially if you pony up the extra $550 for the big LCD. I may be mistaken but I think you get the complete art package no matter what screen option...?
Quoted from iceman44:A regular progress update.
they are in this thread...the last update before this one being we can not show anything to you until fox says OK but we have submitted a ton of shit to them. How can you update when you aren't allowed to show anything?
Let's not have a whiny new year people....you just got the BIG news that you can see the art for crying out loud!!!!
Quoted from nonik:Thanks Andrew, i received your email, and thanks to this forum for your help!
There's some positivity!!! I was getting tired of seeing all the new posts be "Ignored User Comment" and complaints on the day of the big announcement no less.
Quoted from Kylo_Ren:Anyone else hear Alien will use 8 balls instead of 4?
heard it was 14, to beat Apollo 13's multiball record.
Quoted from iceman44:the theme lends itself to what could be some of the best/creative lighting ever.
no pressure though
Quoted from Aurich:With Andrew traveling I'll post the art. I get up early, but I'm on the West Coast, so give me a little time.
just post it now then sleep in...
Quoted from FlipperFreak:Cointaker in the USA
they list Full Throttle at $6995 plus Freight...I assume they give you a lower rate if you call. Heighway sells FuTh for $5950 USD plus stateside shipping only. In that scenario, ordering direct is much cheaper. Again, I would assume it's just a list price thing vs real price...I guess.
Quoted from Aurich:If you want to see the image without Pinside compression click this link:
Can see much more detail there. Looks great.
Quoted from karl:Didn't even see the Alien creature in the green
or the one by the left upper flipper
Quoted from jwilson:Still, very little contrast between the red, blue and browns.
It's supposed to look "used" and gritty, no?
Quoted from jwilson:For it to be legible. Why dirty it up?
Right, take everything in Alien and clean it all up and boost the contrast so it looks brand new! Wait, no, that would be terrible...
Quoted from Captain_Kirk:Perhaps if you had more experience it wouldn't bother you so.
take it to the basement...seriously
This is the essentially the final product...no offense, but you are wasting your time recommending and making changes--it's a fun exercise but as long as you know it won't happen. It's over Johnny.
Quoted from Captain_Kirk:Seeing as Fox just approved it, it's not like they've already printed thousands of these things.
I am just relaying what the Heighway employee stated. This is it. Sorry. I like it BTW.
Quoted from ForceFlow:The two words are homophones, which is probably why some people don't realize there is a difference between them. Insure has to do with obtaining insurance. Ensure basically means "to make certain".
It's like the difference between "buy" and "bye" or "break" and "brake".
Isn't it as direct rip from the movie anyway? Not sure if the suggestion was there was an error in the art or an error in the film.
Either way, art's done, assemble the playfield and box up the swap kit.
Quoted from Aurich:I appreciate the thought, but that text is directly taken from the film.
We're down to grammar now...
Let's see a fully assembled prototype!
Playfield art is complete. Revising, means sending all of it back to Fox and saying "we know you approved this but we thought we'd change a bunch of stuff...can you look at it all again?". Doubt that will happen (it won't). Game might be ready to show in March!
PS this is a stripped playfield. You typically have things called plastics, pop bumpers, slingshots, ramps, ball guides, LCD(!) that will go on it and drastically change the look.
Quoted from rubberducks:the literature from Heighway even say in big letters "PLAYFIELD ART SUBJECT TO CHANGE".
The guy that made the art that represents heighway says the exact opposite.
Quoted from Aurich:I'm sure some things will change as we build the second white wood, but probably just little things. Going through a whole new round of Fox approvals seems pretty unlikely to me, who knows how much it would delay things. So I'd say this is final for the most part.
this
PS I'm not saying I don't want it changed...it looks fine to me and I think it will look much different when assembled. I am just stating the REALITY of what was already stated here.
PSS I don't know what "spreading fud" means but it sounds like it should be moderated
Quoted from Jvspin:To those who say it's a done deal, Aurich has repeatedly said he has to make changes so why not give him suggestions? It's easy to get lost in the details of a project. I think it's helpful to get inputs from people who are not uber fans and who are not so close to the project.
Maybe he should clear this up. "this is final for the most part." vs. "The artwork is subject to change."
Then we will know whether it's just fun speculation to change things around or an actual give and take where there is a real chance major items can be altered and sent back for approval...all before March when there was a tentative possibility of a complete prototype.
Quoted from Nelly:He already did clear it up. 8 or so posts above yours.
yet also, "this is final for the most part."
Quoted from Nelly:Which is basically also saying that things could still change. Nothing is final until they start building games to be boxed up.
ok...it's almost like we need some clarification on that
Maybe some people haven't looked at a high rez pic? 4 large Aliens as well as some lurking...this may be a matter of the brightness/contrast/resolution of the files that are shown on the interweb. I'll bet a full size playfield with the art will show all of this much more clearly...who knows?
Quoted from accidental:thumbnail
It's hard to imagine it full size...but I think the Aliens will be huge and noticeable if the art is bright enough...these are widebodies as well for what that's worth. Let's see if they get it together by March so people can see it "in person"...betting it will look great. I haven't bought anything Alien BTW but plan on getting the swap kit unless somehow gameplay is horrible which seems unlikely given how fast/flowing/fun Full Throttle turned out.
Some people might not like a nuanced art package as opposed to super defined, super bright clip art from a TV show with beveled edge inserts and big actor face slings....you don't want too have to look to close while you are playing after all.
Quoted from nipenzo:My bad....I missed all those blue clip art Aliens pasted on a black nondescript background.
You probably shouldn't buy one...might as well drain the thread.
Quoted from nipenzo:You're a fanboy already on the pre-order list
read, if you can, my above post. I haven't ordered anything Alien.
Updating my ignore list
Quoted from spfxted:Insert spit take here
I edited that post(I was being a dick), and put on ignore...trying to have a more positive 2016..also trying to eat healthier
Quoted from Hazoff:shit artwork but as long as its over shadowed by the gameplay then that can be over looked
Callouts would be missed, not sure they were ever going the "hobbit" route with movie clips though...seems like they could get the "Alien" to sign off or some facehuggers if not the actors
Quoted from Star_Gazer:Aurich should have eaten more bananas!
Did we get the license for the banana at least?
Quoted from vid1900:they are liars.
Can you blame them? They have to live up to the intense scrutiny of the all important pinball community. I don't know how they manage it. First place PR people check: pinside. "But what do pinsiders say?!!"
Quoted from Aurich:some moron is podcasting
podcasting...
those 3 listeners are going to be mislead!
How about the loader grabbing the ball and putting it in a captive ball lock? Too late in the game for that? Then the bitch line when they release the balls
Quoted from Aurich:huge xenomorph grabbing the ball
Loader is like the cowbell: need more
PS Bashing the Dino ball grab!?!? sacrilege sir. Out of bounds.
Quoted from vid1900:The Moderators did that for us, and killed his secondary accounts, too.
Quoted from Aurich:So it will need a new design obviously.
loader clipart surrounding screen
or...Throw on some Alien egg pods in the "distance" towards the bottom, green gas/fog surrounding the rest...or, alternatively, IF they approve, a bunch of crystal clear headshots of the cast.
Quoted from jedimojo:Prometheus goes 35 light yrs into space, but CharlizeTheron said "We're a half billion miles from Earth".
So..... that means they're still in our solar system?
OK, Neil deGrasse Tyson...maybe it was hyperbole (or anti-hyperbole!)--If I wanted fact checked perfect space talk I'll watch your (Neil's) Universe show(which is also good!).
I liked the movie fine, no masterpiece but worthy of a couple hours of my time watching at home...of course I like anything Sci-Fi.
Quoted from benheck:grow even bigger locked in a chamber with nothing to eat?
metabolizes energy from microorganisms in atmosphere left there by alien bodybuilder...duh.
Quoted from Aurich:If you don't like it the don't buy it
but please, stop by this thread and share all your minute, highly individualized needs and wants....and then add a threat that you won't buy unless something really specific happens or unless it ships by a certain deadline.
Maybe you could petition Heighway to make a "custom" Alien machine for each individual...that would be cost effective(20k by Christmas).
Quoted from vid1900:Good.
That's one manly face I don't want to be staring at all night long.
Bet she would feel the same about your mug...
Quoted from Jgaltr56:No way, this baby needs to drop into my FTH cab!
That was supposed to be an issue
Quoted from trilogybeer:What is included in the swap kit ? and how much will it cost ?
Artwork/Playfield.60%
Quoted from trilogybeer:just new software into existing boards ?
USB stick I presume--that's how updates are done to Full Throttle
Quoted from Expletive:But it doesn't mean that these will be shipping in the next couple of months either.
right....since they have said that they hope to have one at TPF I don't think anyone paying attention expected them to ship(!) in the next couple months.
Quoted from Jvspin:I didn't like the look of the old bezel but think the chromed one actually adds cosmetic value.
"Bezel" doesn't bother me one bit...what is the actual surface area difference from other machines with side rails/lockdown bar? Not much I suspect.
Chrome looks incredible but be prepared to wipe it down every time you touch it otherwise it will be a mess of finger/palm prints. I'll stick with the industrial standard look.
Quoted from PappyBoyington:Is this translite the final version?
I think the final has a large Paul Reiser clipart figure...
Quoted from Whysnow:do we know if an Alien prototype will be at TPF?
I'm betting no...but maybe playfield/toys
Quoted from Indypin:I hate the waiting game.
Hobbit is closing in on 4 years, hopefully they'll beat that record.
Quoted from Aurich:childish drama
on the internet? What are you talking about? This is a truly shocking statement
Quoted from spfxted:Yes, and A few of my friends are switching to GB because it's ready now, and they figure they'll get Alien 6 or 8 months from now.
Quoted from underlord:Asshat
Pinball guys(gals), in general, are nuts in so many ways...and internet forums are nuts...combine the 2 and it distills and concentrates the nuttiness in some cases...like a really tasty bourbon, except horrible instead.
Regardless, FT, Alien and future releases through Heighway Model should eventually filter through the Stern zombies firewall against anything different. Red dots in 2016 for christsakes. ??!?
Quoted from HoakyPoaky:Jesus what a bunch of BS nonsense around here lately. Keep the damn drama out of this thread, and keep your chin up Aurich.
don't be so dramatic
Andrew-
Rocky Mtn. Pinball Showdown and Gameroom Expo June 10-12, 2016
http://www.pinballshowdown.com/index.html
How about a couple Full Throttles and Aliens in sunny Denver, CO? Lots of pinball nuts in the Rocky Mtn Region with $$$ burning holes in their pockets.
Quoted from Buzz:Any prices announced yet on shaker and optic ramps?
Don't think so. I'll be arranging my FT delivery soon and was going to check on the Fiber Optic ramps/shaker as well. Will report back if I get a price.
Quoted from Aurich:no physical Alien machine at TPF, not quite ready for the public to bang on it yet.
In 2-3 months maybe?
Rocky Mtn. Pinball Showdown and Gameroom Expo June 10-12, 2016
http://www.pinballshowdown.com/index.html
Quoted from rubberducks:when they're supposed to be starting production
they can walk and chew gum at same time I bet...got to market these things if you want to sell them.
Quoted from charles4400:Who did you all go to for the best pricing?
I've bought direct from Heighway. Cointaker is US distributor.
Quoted from Expletive:thing looks huge
"That's what she said" joke deleted.
If it were smaller I can hear the it's not big enough crowd chiming in...this is the problem revealing bits and pieces. People want to see things, then they get picked apart because you can't see the whole picture.
Lock it down Andrew, go dark. Show these maniacs all or nothing!
Quoted from Expletive:I remain concerned
wait for full reveal. Pinspeculation(tm) gets us nowhere
http://gamingshogun.com/2016/03/29/fox-announces-april-26-alien-day/
Additional global ALIEN DAY partners include:
Not Heighway
Come on Fox...
Hate to read to much into it, but at first glance doesn't say much about their interest in the project...but who knows? Maybe they will do another Alien Day this year that coincides with some other date-looking number from the movie.
Has nothing to do with whether or not the game will be great, just would've been great for Heighway sales potentially.
Quoted from Cheeks:I'm sure all 3 of them are more like what everyone was envisioning and hoping for. What a shame.
Opinions are all over. Never make everyone happy. The Zen tables, except for AVP look Stern-esque(tm) and a bit cheesy to me. What a shame?
Quoted from tezting:Why not open a new thread about Zen pinball? This is under the subforum "Heighway Pinball" so I think it is a little derailing/off topic/disrespectful to talk about Zen pinball here
makes too much sense
http://www.pinballnews.com/games/fullthrottle/index11.html
Overview of the Heighway Tech on FT
I doubt a pinball game is going to have time for long slow musical builds creating vastness of space/impression of tension...you'll likely have to watch the movie for that...or they can put it in the attract mode and you can kick back and listen to your pinball machine
Quoted from Manic:Always liked him.
He was good in Millennium series about 20 years back
The "lost interest" argument because of a perceived delay...I blame our instant gratification/ADD culture. We're not getting our super expensive toys fast enough damn it!
Quoted from Captain_Kirk:Heighway has become the new JJP, and Alien is this year's Hobbit.
And you have become the new ____
this thread has suddenly attracted a lot of jerk-ish jerk type jerk comments...does that sound too jerk-ish? Personal theory, a bunch of self haters that waited long on Hobbit etc. and are trying to get in a little schadenfreude.
Quoted from RandomGuyOffCL:compelled me to give him my $$,
you can get a full refund anytime, no?
Quoted from Rascal_H:My constructive analysis. Thoughts?
My thought is that you are bored and getting your rocks off messing with people in a thread of a game that you have no intention of buying.
%$*& can we please, collectively agree not to care about high school sounding horseshit completely unrelated to an "official game thread"...or at least agree not to post it here?? 30 new posts! Oh, half are about some bizarre pseudo-feud.
Quoted from PorkChopExpress:Did you call another man's workplace to tattle or did you not?
who cares and why is it in the "official game thread"? move on. drop it. let it go. water under the bridge. blood from a turnip. kids these days...let's leave reality TV on reality TV and agree that it sucks and has ruined society.
Alien updates. Official thread. Game info...concentrate man, try really really hard.
Quoted from TigerLaw:further discussion of same will now be deemed off topic discussion moving forward and moderated.
My fellow Americans, our long national nightmare is over
Quoted from wcbrandes:so the left saucer like creature black lagoon from monster bash the right vent like congo, the reverse wire form like sopranos meadowlands, and the plunge like The shadow?
That one shot looks like POTC Jack the Monkey, no?
Quoted from dnikolich:Andrew Heighway, CEO of Heighway Pinball, will be speaking at the 2016 Rocky Mountain Pinball Showdown, June 10-12. Heighway Pinball is the UK's first major pinball manufacturer. Come meet Andrew and learn about Full Throttle pinball and Alien pinball. Buy your tickets at http://www.pinballshowdown.com
Nice!
Quoted from PinPatch:The guy that was in the alien suit was Nigerian.
He is also no longer alive unfortunately.
Quoted from HeighwayPinball:I will be at the Rocky Mountain Show this weekend and will show the video to anyone who wants to see it.
I'll take a look
Quoted from Sticky:Still no gameplay videos? How far away are we from actually seeing this thing in action?
I'll look at it on Andrew's phone on Friday at RMPS...so 2 days away?
Quoted from Sticky:Still no gameplay videos? How far away are we from actually seeing this thing in action?
Watched the infamous video. Actual flipping game being played on assembled Alien playfield...so yes, it does exist. Looks great! Sounds/video clips look awesome...game over man! Queens Nest, acid burn, clips of the eggs hatching. Playfield art looks great on populated playfield. Hopefully this Fall will see it in production and my playfield kit will be on it's way.
Met Andrew at RMPS. He was nice enough to deliver my Full Throttle to me since he was coming to show(he actually held on to it for a few months until I was able to take delivery which was cool as well). We assembled the game and he walked me through all of it/double checked it was all working and then broke it down and even helped me load it in my vehicle.
Who says service is dead!? My first NIB...I'm assuming all manufacturers do this?
Cheers!
Quoted from Roostking:Is the pricing going to be similar to Full Throttle?
http://heighwaypinball.com/storenew/
Not sure if pricing is still accurate but all the pdf order forms are there with pricing. $6100 for standard with full payment. That's a $150 more than Full Th was for full pay
Quoted from bane:Deposit 7/26/15. Refund request 5/13/16. Confirmation email from Heighway regarding cancellation 5/16/16. No refund yet. I'd love for Andrew to pop in and let me know when refund is coming.
they are an actual company making games so they are not going to run off with your $1500 or whatever. If it's an emergency and you really need $$ ASAP call them---like the old days.
Quoted from Pinstein:More Newt? Really? I cant take anymore as time and again this thread has proven that this title is in incompetent hands. I never saw the elusive video and Im sure its cool but I've seen tons of great movie trailers that were ultimately better than the actual movie. Requesting a refund today. Oh wait, I wasn't foolish enough to put down a deposit.
bye
Quoted from rai:thread.
Top of thread, use search box and enter keyword like shipping or ship date, similar to an interweb search...if the tubes are working you may find the answer
Quoted from jonesjb:Is it possible to get all the LE design and features in the stock black cabinet?
I'm guessing that'd be no problem. They let me turn my standard Full Throttle cabinet in to basically an LE by adding features. Now I have a black cabinet/black trim/ and a shaker ready for an Alien kit.
"That thing's going to eat through the goddamn hull! Come On!" (Search all decks, Avoid the Acid)
"Let's Go! Move it out!"
"Come on let's go!! Fall back!!"
Quoted from Pale_Purple:Would like to support the company direct but I think it might make more sense as an American to buy from Cointaker.
Bought a Full Throttle direct from Heighway no issues.
Quoted from j69:I assume these pics are old news but it's the first time I've seen close ups
I think they are in this thread along with a video of where they came from
Quoted from way2wyrd:I currently have ordered the smaller screen for my LE. I'll need to see the finished package before deciding on the large screen
I thought you got all the art with the LE even if you get big screen...if that's the case you could frame it.
I have 27" on Full Throttle and still look up at it even with the play field LCD.
Quoted from Sticky:Says the person
personal attacks, temporary thread eject initiated.
Quoted from HeighwayPinball:However, a small number of SEs could roll out first
Play field kits would probably be the easiest to get out...start with mine.
Quoted from bigdaddy07:final approval is given from Fox
They are all on holiday in Bora Bora this time of year
Quoted from HeighwayPinball:Hi everyone.
Ok, it's time to give you all an update.
I stated a few months ago that we were aiming to have the bulk of the game finished in August, and to work at the big reveal.
Essentially, nothing has changed, and we feel we are on schedule.
Our latest Alien playfields, which we are calling our pre-production playfields, will be ready to ship to us in days. The latest parts, such as ball guides, wireform ramps, modelled toys, etc... are all being manufactured now.
Everything is tied in to build these 3 games in the middle of the month. 2 games will go to members of our development team and 1 remains with us here.
The game coding is already at an advanced stage - so will simply migrate from our existing prototype to the pre-production models later in the month.
Once at least one of the games is completed then we will be shooting the official promo video. The plan is still to submit both the finished game and the official game promo video to FOX for approval at the same time and by the end of the month. At that point, we must wait for the approval. However, we are not expecting big delays because at this point, we will be dealing directly with FOX in Los Angeles, as opposed to FOX Europe first. Also, at this point, a lot of the core material has already been approved by FOX so it will be case of approving a finished, or nearly-finished, composition.
Once the official promo video is approved, we will show this publicly as soon as possible. Once the game itself has been officially approved then we will immediately begin production. Subject to a speedy approval, we still intend to start manufacturing games in September this year, with the first games shipping out by the end of October 2016. We want as many of our customers as possible to be playing their games by Christmas 2016.
Are these timeframes realistic? I am sure you are asking yourselves this question. We can't deny the delays we have experienced up to this point - but many of the delays have been down to stabilising our hardware and software platforms, and dealing with suppliers for the first time. We believe that we are now at a position where we can shortly mass produce reliable pinball machines. We have learnt a lot over the last few years.
So when will you be able to play this game in person? The official global launch of this game will likely take place in London in September, or early October. The official North American launch is scheduled for Pinball Expo in October.
Thanks for reading and I'll try to answer any questions you have.
Andrew
Quoted from dannunz:That's a shit ton of wires.
looks like they have individual boards for each light? Instead of a larger board for each area with fewer wires going to it you get wires going to each
Quoted from HeighwayPinball:We want to quickly build up to 100 games a month, and take it from there
What about the playfield kits? What's the ETA on ordering those? Any new info?
Quoted from HeighwayPinball:Within 2 weeks, we are looking to announce all add-ons available, including prices, as well as game kits
Great!
Quoted from dannunz:I guess I'm more wondering what the standard will come with? Black trim?
with Full Throttle you could choose...black, silver, chrome, whatever(chrome=extra). I went with black/black cabinet thinking that will go with most future titles in some way.
Quoted from CrazyLevi:I don't know what it says onscreen in the movie but it should be "ensure."

Quoted from EchoVictor:the $6100 price of an Alien SE is starting to look better and better...
not sure..maybe people will flock to a 15k game....the price of an Alien kit to drop in the Heighway cab if you already own it looks even better!!
