Quoted from benheck:

How are they going to tie the two films together? They take place half a century apart, are thematically very different and share only 2 characters.

Quoted from Perspex:

Slightly disappointed about the combining of the movies, a pin based only on the first movie would've been the ultimate, but I get it might not have had enough 'pin' content to work with. I hope it blends the two well enough.

The impression that I got from listening to the Heighway presentation at Chicago Expo was that there will be two separate rule paths and you start the game by chosing which one you want to follow (Alien or Aliens). Once you complete the first path, it would switch over to the other one. Kinda like picking Autobots or Decepticons in a game of Transformers....

Quoted from benheck:

If the playfield turns out to be a disappointment and doesn't make sense they could always re-theme it to "Prometheus"

Read this....

...and I guarantee you will never watch Prometheus the same way again!

Quoted from HeighwayPinball:

Secondly, we will officially announce what the situation is regarding actors/callouts/music etc...

What I can tell you is that we want what you want. Whether we get all of it or some of it is the real issue, and one that we will clarify at a later date.

Andrew,

thanks for the quick response.

If I might make a suggestion.....if you're up against licensing only giving you some of the assets, there are two I feel you absolutely MUST have;

Sigourney Weaver and Bill Paxton.

Obviously Ripley is the main protagonist, having the most focus in both movies, and let's face it.....Hudson has all the most fun quotes from Aliens anyway!

Looking at the insert on the unpopulated playfield, looks like that left outlane toy may have been changed to the Nostromo's hypersleep chamber. Hopefully the space jockey will appear elsewhere...

This is a long read, but well worth it. You'll never look at Prometheus the same way again....

Andrew,

I know this is late in the game, but a bit of advice/request/need....

Just downloaded the Pinball FX2 Aliens table last night and played it a bunch. This is the first time they've ever used actual movie quotes instead of sound-alikes, and it made a world of difference. If they can get the rights to the actual call-outs, so can you.

However, while playing there was something wrong, something that felt totally off. I wasn't playing "ALIENS", I was playing a close facsimilie of it. What was wrong?

The Music.

I am asking you now, your ALIENS pinball absolutely MUST have the original James Horner score (and preferrably the Jerry Goldsmith one from the original ALIEN). It is vital for setting the mood of the films. Just listen;

Please, please make it happen.

Thanks,
EV

Quoted from SLAMT1LT:

Music can massively change the atmosphere of any game. Terminator 2 is the best example - in the digital world I was able to create my own version of Terminator 2 but removed all the original music and added Brad Fiedel's superb score (from both films).

The fact that you know who Brad Fiedel is makes me very pleased that you guys get it!

Very much looking forward to the Alien pin......

Thanks,

Quoted from way2wyrd:

How do yall think this will work? Ball Save like WOZ?
--Jeff

At the reveal at Expo '14, Nordman showed a cardboard mock-up of a wheel with 6 slots on it, and the Space Jockey on top.

Alien_Outlane_(resized).jpgAlien_Outlane_(resized).jpg

-Speculation-

I think this wheel will rotate (either to set stations or continuous rotation), and one or more of the slots will be lit up. Get the ball in the lit slot and it will act like a ball saver. Get it in an unlit slot and you're dead.

-end speculation-

I like that it seems the theming has changed to the hypersleep chambers. Also, based on the insert ladders, seems like there's a multiball mode tied to this gizmo...

Quoted from nman:

Looking back at some of the previously shown stuff, this definitely makes sense. I'm guessing the dual exit options allow for a "sometimes" ball-saver depending on how well you nudge. Doesn't seem like the sleep chamber bay would necessarily have to rotate either, but it would certainly be a nice effect if it did.

Here's an early mockup with the chamber;

Once it goes into one of the two open slots, I think it has to rotate (clockwise) to allow the ball to roll down into the center drain hole...

Quoted from Manic:

Well at least the mini screen isn't jammed right up to the alien's head anymore. That said, the bezel is still pretty large on that thing. It was the first thing I saw when I looked the PF pic.
Wonder why it doesn't have a perfect octagonal opening (since that's what they are going for)... it's off center and has that funny cut in it to make room for the number "2" on it. Interesting.

LCD bezel is just being true to original shape of Sulaco's airlock opening....

Quoted from J85M:

I like the idea of hurry up modes with the beacons flashing, Alien hurry ups and self destruct hurry ups with the beacons spinning, MUTHUR voice over going the countdown and alarms/sirens (sound lifted from the films) would make for some sweaty palm moments

David Thiel mentioned specifically at last year's Expo that the MUTHUR voice-overs on the Alien pin are custom call-outs by a sound-alike (which just so happens to be his wife)...

Quoted from Ferret:

IMHO, the thing about Ripley is: she doesn't actually have many awesome lines that would pump you up while playing. Yes, I, and probably everyone, would love the "Get away from her, you bitch!" line. But other than that, how many other iconic, exciting Ripley quotes jump to your mind? For me, her next best quote would be "nuke the site from orbit... it's the only way to be sure" ... but the way she actually says that in the film is very calm and slow, good atmosphere, but it doesn't build excitement.

Quoted from Whysnow:

Here is one quick photo just showing the shear amount of player interaction and capability on the playfield physical design.

And there are even a few more shots that could be added to your map. For one, I've actually made the RH 180 ramp off of the upper RH flipper a few times...
