Quoted from MK6PIN:

+1 on all thoughts above!!!! Mike is definitely around some GI fixes, and a flasher effect for the xeno in action would be perfect!!!!
Been toying w some ideas, but will wait until I "replastic" the game first........

Yeah was thinking about the flasher as well. The xeno is such an amazing toy it needs bells and whistles saying oh shit here I come like in the movies.

#23102 3 months ago

Is this possible for a xeno-flasher mod?... a bright led that strobes when the xeno-tongue-motor is running.
It can’t be that hard to make...

[Plastics]
Next try: recieved one plastic and a print muster for colors.
Thanks to jvspin for remarks on some plastics. During production at least 3 plastics were changed.
We found one of them , the form is a little changed and a 5th hole came in for a post with a nut.

Question: Has someone this plastic with only 4 holes ... so no nut between the white stars ??!!

I made the necessary changes on this plastic with my dremel .. in the run it will be lasered as well.
In my opinion the colors are great and better than original. This maybe because we print color >> white >> color.
The blue is not so dark as original, I like it this way but we might swap to darker blue.

SWEET!!!!!!!

#23115 3 months ago

I never noticed they have a switch on those pcbs for the xeno targets. Can't wait for upgraded sling lights!

#23116 3 months ago

Very cool !
It seems that the area in front of the slings will become much much brighter !!

Great work .. I am looking forward for the next video of your little machine making those pcb´s !!

#23117 3 months ago

Here are pics with ONE ONLY of the sling boards changed.

Top left is the new one.

The playfield surface itself gives very little indication of the light change. It is absorbing light like a black hole.

I have placed a ball in the centre. You can see how much more it is illuminated from the left. A piece of paper right down the middle also compares partially upgraded left side with stock right side.

I can’t wait for the connectors to arrive, haha. I’ve lifted the headers off the OEM boards. Into the oven. Let’s see how this looks!

Thinking of going to the Pinball Madness event there in mid October.

20 seconds of rolling the ball around. I think you can see it from space, haha.

It’s perfect. Pics and video as usual difficult to capture the reality of it. No shadows. The ball jumps out at you. The playfield ambience is still ominous, but the xeno now jumps out at you.

Yes, Kelly, the game's animator, sold his machine to the museum, so it should be on the floor in October I'd think. I haven't been out to see it yet.

#23133 3 months ago

timebandit you are the king of mods!

Edit:

Would it be possible to have it as a mod for other games?

The Free Play long weekend starts Oct 19th so maybe it will be there by then. Really want to play this

Thank you

We really need a set of these for our Alien at the VFW museum...

I have tweaked these prototypes a bit and have now ordered production boards. They will be in my Pinside shop and on my website in about ten days.

Quoted from Axl:

I guess so. I could just put white LEDs on the face and a standard connector. They should screw onto any switch for mounting.

#23138 3 months ago

I asked about Aliens at the Banning, CA Oct 19th Expo, I got back:

> We will have an Aliens LE for the October show. We will also have a Deadpool LE and an Alice Cooper

So I'm going!

I just managed to get a spare Alien IO Board.
How is the board identified to be number IO0..IO3 or IOC? There are some DIP switches in the lower left corner, but they have the same Off-setting on all 4 boards. As I found no other visible differences it may be that some input lines are used to read the "location" of the board when placed on the respective connector. Any idea?
And how about the USB ports on the mainboard. Is anybody using the USB 3.0 connectors (should be compatible with 2.0)? My IO Boards were only attached to USB 2.0 - there are two more around the left corner.

the big pcbs that the I/Os plug into give the ID/location number/whatever you call it.

Does anyone know where I can get replacement side art blades?
Thanks

replacement side art blades

Oh no - what happened?

#23147 3 months ago
Quoted from SunKing:

Oh no - what happened?

I scratched the blade art a little bit while taking some tape off to readjust my EL blades . Didn't realize the tape was that strong and I ripped it too fast
took some mild art off. Maybe I will just scotch tape next time. Is that what you used?

Finally done this Am . Took me total about 2 hours but I’m not done wiring the power source into the machine. I think it looks cool but I don’t think it adds much light to the play field . I may either also add pinstadium lighting or I may wait for timbandits slingshot mod

Well done on the install. They look great.

If you need more light you only need it on the centre and lower parts of the playfield. Rail lighting is absolutely inappropriate for this game. Overkill and hideous.

Along with the sling lights I have installed two diffuse comet strips on the ramp returns. They really fit in and look like a fluro light in the passageways of the ship. They blast the very centre of the field. Them and the slings and I’m in lighting heaven on this game.

Plus two bulbs on the backboard. Plenty, and ambience is totally sustained.
