Hi guys. Just more info. I have played very few games and there is a small amount of chipping at the main scoop by the xeno.
I recommend Mylar asap and a Cliffy which he does make one. Peace out ✌️!

#22952 5 years ago

yes you can bend the scoop or change the spring to reduce that but a cliffy asap

#22953 5 years ago
Quoted from Bartzenegger:

Hi guys ! I thought I saw a post b4 but couldn’t find it.
Does anyone know how to adjust the pf monitor.
Thank you to all

I Don't have my game yet, but I thought it was just four screws that are used to level it.

#22954 5 years ago
Quoted from Lamprey:

The screws don't really level it. Mine had some foam compressed under the four mounting holes on the bracket. The foam didn't help much with leveling (and looked kind of junky), so I purchased some neoprene washers from Home Depot - they look much better and allow for a small amount of level adjustment.

#22955 5 years ago

Thank you much Wayne for the info.
Im really enjoying the game. I think it takes a bit of tweaking b4 you can really appreciate it.

Who is selling cliffy for Alien?
Thanks

The most recent games come with a Cliffy protector on the scoop. If you are getting an older game, you can order one from Cliffy. Though maybe someone more local to you also has them.

Hi all. I just played Alien yesterday and OMG was it amazing. My wife and I fell in love with it. I know Heighway made them and declared bankruptcy, but I'm hazy on details after reading a few pages:

1) Is someone still making this machine?

2) What is the biggest negative from owning one?

ty

#22961 5 years ago

1- No, just the hundred or so (no one knows for exactly sure) that are already out there.

2- worrying about parts/pieces but owners are stepping up and sourcing repair parts.

I don’t know for the US but some nib are remaining in EU.

Quoted from colonel_caverne:

There are no NIB in US - the last container of games before bankruptcy went to Australia. There were 24 in that batch I think and all sold within a month or two.

#22964 5 years ago

Sounds like half went to Europe and the other half Australia

There were 1 or 2 left in Australia when I asked a few days ago.

I might buy another one. Game is freaking incredible, and I don't think there is a general appreciation yet for how well we can keep them supported. Think about it, hundred something complete games..incredible machine..could become a true collector piece.

I put a 2k deposit with Cointaker for an LE some time ago. About 2 months ago told me they are getting me a NIB LE. I waited and waited and waited. I wrote them tons of emails no response. They claimed it shipped.. nothing. No response. One guy was selling an LE from Australia here on pinside.. my only chance. But stupid me held off because I had a deposit with Cointaker and I trusted them.. and guess what.. nothing. Nada. No NIB LE. One big fat lie. Got my deposit back, went to another source and all Alien LE sold out, and had to get an SE. No more cointaker for me. I know some people swear by them but if they had just told me we can't get it for you, I could have at least got the LE from the other seller. Wasted my time and opportunity

Why Australia? There are some very few nib in Europe. That is still your opportunity

Thanks for the tip, I think I am satisifed with my SE since it works fine. Once in a while the ball gets stuck, and the Only thing I am missing is the LE plaque and the side art/blades that light up. But other then that its working .. I would hate to order one over seas and come broken.. that would make me sad

Yeah. Dont know how I'd go on in life having to settle for an SE. Oh, the horror.

The dude is frustrated because he put down a deposit on what he was promised and didn't get it. No need to be a dick about it.

I even held it for a week without a deposit but had to sell it after that, sorry

GTFO of here with that shit.

He got his deposit back. He got a game some people put $8000 down for, didn't get their money back, and didn't get a game they were promised. You miss the previous 400+ pages where all of that happened? Hell, he is even thumbs-upping my post, and he did not verbally retort, but YOU did....?

Know your history before you tell me what to do and start throwing out personal attacks.

Shalimar is an indian restaurant in Ann arbor. It used to be good.. now it sucks. Indian restaurants are so hit or miss.

Silly question, but is the order of the modes linear (same every time) on this game or are they supposed to be random?

Any ramp shot rotates which mode is lit to be started next. There are strategic reasons you may want to play certain modes at certain times.

1000 Euro more expensive than RS in Austria !
I was in contact but got no answer why he raised the prices within 8 weeks for 1000 Euro

RS still has some and he test every game before shipping
Mine is working out of the box

Finally hooked up an external woofer. I bought this polk audio for 99.00 from Amazon. Stripped some speaker wire, put alligator clips on one end and connected it right to the existing woofer in the cabinet. It definitely adds more bass. I also got the Pinstadium lights they look awesome. Lights up the play field much better and can be controlled with iphone app (colors/brightness etc). Just FYI in case anyone looking to do some upgrades

Yes. 1.2 w/ the I/O boards at 0.9 is the latest.

Thank you ,
I’m still having led isues and I believe I have tested every which way possible to the point that I’m wondering if the code was a bad download?becuase the leds work normal until certain patterns start in attract mode then they lock on or off. Once that pattern goes back they work again like the code is programmed that way. Any information is appreciated. I have tried all previous mentioned tests. Cables could be a problem but why does it work right at the same times consistently?

It Could be a bad USB cable

on that IO board try swapping that out

Have you tried the "All Lamps" test? This should cycle all lamps to red, green, blue, white, and black (off). You may discover that one or more lamps are not correctly handling one of those colors, which could be a lamp with a wiggly connection in its socket, or a bad lamp. The potential difference between attract mode and gameplay mode may be the wide range of colors that are used on all lamps during attract, as compared to normal gameplay where many lamps mostly stay their "normal" color. In other words, if a physical lamp has problems with blue, but that lamp is usually green during gameplay, the problem might not manifest until a lamp pattern actually drives that lamp's blue channel.

#22991 5 years ago

Thanks guys I have taking good lamps and put them into the B row all the way down to confirm that it’s not any individual lamp and tested game play, and in individual lamp and in all lamp and attract mode the LEDs misbehave as before , an actual socket maybe faulty is possible but guess I don’t see how it would perform normal At the same intervals? I will try cables and anything else you guys have to offer. Thank you thank you

I was finally able to add an Alien to the lineup. I've wanted this pin since I played it several years ago an the Northwest Pinball and Arcade show. Not the route I had hoped my first NIB purchase would be, but still super pumped! Hopefully, I can keep her running with the support of the community.

Just need to get beacons installed and cliffy's and I should be set!

Even got a blanket (towel) to tuck her in at night (mostly).

Nope, nobody can make you do anything. But you should put some mylar on the scoop and buy/install a cliffy.
- Is it better to remove te post under the upper right flipper?
No, don't do that.
- Can I adjust my popbumpers? The doesn't "pop" a lot...
Yes you can, its the same adjustment as any other pinball machine.. The spoon switch.
- Can i buy a lock for my backbox?
Yes you can, they are available on amazon. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000KZXGQU/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage

Is getting a lock for the backbox optional for some versions of Alien? Because my SE has like two locks

#22999 5 years ago
Quoted from Oneangrymo:

I dont know about that, but they aren't keyed alike.. so I replaced all of mine so they are all the same key.. Also, I didn't have the keys for one of the games..

#23000 5 years ago

Mine came keyed alike. Make sure your playfield screen is level.
