Quoted from MK6PIN:

did the same exact same thing...whew!!!! Mine was insured for 10k cash, as I was concerned about parts availability. I hope it works out for you!!!

I insured for $10,000 also.

It’s only a pin, hopefully the distributor and shipper take care of it.

Thanks

#22252 5 years ago

The reason I took a chance was I have an SE and loved it so much I decided to get the LE when I had the opportunity.

On another note, it’s one of the most fun pins that I have ever played.

Been playing Kneissl's every time I went to Charleston....couldn't agree more!!!

Just curious, how much is shipping and insurance a pin from Europe?

I have to hand it to you guys spending such money on this pin, hope you enjoy the hell out of it.

Shipping, insurance and customs fees about $1,200

Sweet deal MK! Not the price, but I’m just glad to know you FINALLY got one because I know you were in the battle the longest. I honestly think you did the right thing because it would have driven you crazy not knowing how good your grail pin is to finally play in the comfort of your man cave/home arcade.

If it’s any consolation, I still love the pin and I feel the honeymoon phase is way over. Some say it’s clunky, but I feel all wide body pins are clunky in some shape or form but are still a blast to play. Full immersion with the shots, rules, gameplay, and the sound and audio will make your bones shake. Seriously, I have to crank my Stern pins up to around 25 to get a good sound and the other night I had to turn my Alien pin sound down to one just to hear my wife yelling for me ( which isn’t a bad thing). I’m cranking away on multiball and trying to keep the balls alive, too nervous to look away from the flippers at times to find my shots. But as long as I hear the Alien squeel with each hit shot, I know I’m kicking Alien ass in the game!

Seriously, keep me posted on your pin and how you like it. The LE looks beautiful!

On the flip side, that damage on the other pin would have made me sick. Here’s hoping he gets it fixed right.

#22257 5 years ago
Quoted from brett:

I just got my LE from Austalia, unfortunately there’s damage. Trying to get it worked out, but with limited parts might be difficult.

Arghh...I guess the one positive is that (fingers crossed) it is not the electronics and mechanical components. I'm sure there are lots of competent cabinet and metalworking shops in your area that could make a replacement. Sucks, I know, more money, to be sure but at least you're not staring at some trashed proprietary board shaking your head filling out paperwork.

Anyone know where I can find the 1.2 game code. Apparently my google Kung Fu is still asleep this morning.

Good news I’m shipping it to HEP, if anyone can make it perfect, it’s him.
No guarantees, but I have faith.

I'm sure you are correct. He lives just down the road from me a bit. Every time I've had a machine delivered or picked up, it's the same driver and he is always coming from or going to his place, which is why the long queue. Hopefully, your wait won't be too long given it's limited to cabinet work. (I keep thinking about reaching out to HEP to try to drop by one day just to see his work. I'm always in awe of people that have the skills and patience to produce at that high of a level...off topic)

Timing is good. He just finished my WH20 and is currently working on my Williams IJ.
He told me this morning, he can ship all three back to me in about a month.
Great guy to deal with, he well deserves his reputation of HIGH END PINS.

I wish I had 1/10 of his talents.

We’re very fortunate to have him in the business of refurbishing pins, that exceed ones expectations.

It sounds like you may need to calibrate the amplifier on your Alien. daudioguy wrote a paper describing how to do this properly... find it here: <http://www.heighwaypinball.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/AlienAmplifierSettings.pdf>. These settings will make the game’s audio sound even better, and also allow you better volume control via the coin door buttons.

#22269 5 years ago

Thanks Ferret, but I kinda love it the way it is! LOL But I'll try it out.

If anyone is interested, and has some time to kill, I've documented my entire 'Alien experience' on my website. It's a long read with tons of pictures and a couple vids - so if you're bored - grab a cold one and enjoy!

Question to those of you fortunate enough to have an Alien from the latest manufacturing batch (I think it was 02/2018?):
How well have these games operated out of the box? What kind of problems have you had? Did you get support from
seller/Heighway to fix the problem or did you manage to do it yourself?

Depends on the problem, once a few minor things are resolved they play fine

Hello. I am from France, and I have an Alien product in March 2018. It works perfectly at 100% The only concern he had at the moment is that a few times, the tongue remained pulled, but no problems with the update 1.2

I had before that a model first series, then a model of September 2017. This version of March 2018 had many fixes compared to others. this one works really well. I am very happy, it's a great pinball!!!

sorry for my english is very bad!

Glad it's working 100%. I have a later production model arriving this week. Seems the production games had several upgrades and improvements. Luckily the team keeping this game going is 45 min from me

yes it's a good thing. I have a question, among many others

What shaker may have used on this pinball. can we use a shaker data east for example?

I added beacons, but I find that they light up very rarely, when are they going to light up?

thank you!!

i’ll ask knockerlover about beacon lights. i think they can adjust that in settings or future code updates.

The beacons should light up during attract mode, Queen's Nest, Self Destruct, Loader Battle, All Out War, and probably a few other places. If you want to ensure they're working properly, you can exercise them in the operator Test menus. But during game play, we wanted to use them enough to be exciting and noteworthy, but not so often that they became boring. (Same general philosophy is true of the shaker motor.)

#22281 5 years ago

ok thank you very much for this answer. after doing a lot of parts, they actually work properly.

more than find what model of shaker to choose to install. because I did not understand which one to choose

I supplies the Quake OEM shaker motors for the LE games.

Quake shaker to France is £75 + £12 shipping. Don't know if the cabinet is drilled for fitment, you may need 4x 8-32 T Nuts

#22283 5 years ago

thank you very much for your answer, because I in stock shaker data east, and shaker spike. does it work on alien? Or must you shaker quake?

#22284 5 years ago

No, any should work.

#22285 5 years ago

ok thank you very much Epotech for this valuable information. that's really nice

thank you

#22286 5 years ago

I will install a spike shaker

#22287 5 years ago

The Alien LE doesn't come with a shaker installed?

#22288 5 years ago
Quoted from MK6PIN:

I was an advocate for this "grail" theme (overused term) for years, as most know...this was a journey for me (understatement), which has ended with a game ( and added cost, for sure).

I've been out of the country for a couple of weeks, so I'm just now catching up here. So glad to hear you finally scored one of these! Aside from the contractors that busted their asses working on this game (and did an amazing job), you are the one guy here who should have one of these gems in their game rooms.

You lost too, a $1500 deposit as I recall plus shipping from Sweden. But you got off your ass and made things happen for yourself and that I respect. You earned that game and I hope it gives you many years of happiness.

Just enjoy the machine. I wish you much luck with it (and I think I am the largest consumer creditor on the list ) and many happy plays ! Do not feel bad about what happened, it was not your fault.

I knew something happened when your logo returned to alien. That's great news. Although I don't have my game anymore my logo will stay as is. Game is the best I've played and hopefully once the dust settles and stability is established I'll be back in.

Beyond all this history with Heighway Pinball, it's true that this game is extraordinary. it is sublime, and is really a great game. It's been 20 years since I Pinball machine, I had a lot. but it becomes my favorite pinball!

I thank all those who contribute to the life of this pinball today, without forgetting the other passionate who created it.

thank you all!

great post.

the local guys that are keeping this pin alive are why i took the chance. need to give a plug to Nitro Pinball. Found me one, great communication, their tech went over what was done, gave me a fair price and game arrived today. I see now why their rep is so good.

Hello, do you know what these settings are for: Shaker frequency and shaker limit?
thank you

#22300 5 years ago

Hello,

After about 10/15 play after the installation of my shaker, for the first time I am a little disappointed. in more than 10/15 play, I had only two small shakes .....

In test everything works very well. if I had known, I would not have bought a shaker! lol jokes aside, I understand the idea of wanting to have vibrations at high moments, but here it is cruelly manly, I was waiting for me when the action is strong, sentryguns! no shaker, ambush, no shaker, lots of moments where the action is strong! no shaker. it's a shame I think. I have more often beacons that are already rare that the shaker

maybe the settings are not correct, I hope!
