I heard 50 pins are headed out soon.

True!

is this one of the new ones??

#16329 6 years ago
Quoted from nwpinball:

But pinball companies have never been that good at the social networking/online marketing aspect of the business, it's a new area of business expertise even the big guys don't understand very well.

...and also when they post here it...turns...into...a...shitshow...every...single...time...

Quoted from pingod:

Mine did the same thing when I installed the Alien head.
Works great when not engaged, sounds like gears stripping when it is.
Turned mine off as well.

These are the old ones, right?....not the new batch...

#16539 6 years ago

Sorry about that! I thought the new ones had no problem with the Xeno....

What is Roman/PDI glass and why do people prefer it so much more to other anti reflective glass?

It's made of crushed meteorite dust and impossible to scratch...even with a diamond drill!

Quoted from Bryno:

Now that ALIEN machines are clearly leaving the factory in numbers

I am waiting to see the actual Ship Tracking Number!

#16916 6 years ago
Quoted from Mr68:

I wonder what percentage of the population might say, "I don't get the desire to follow pinball".

Oh, trust me....It's BIG!

#16958 6 years ago
Quoted from Rdoyle1978:

So at this point, How many of these games have actually shipped?

Only the people with the Tracking Number knows.....

#17006 6 years ago

HOLY CRAP! Some REAL news!!

#17053 6 years ago
Quoted from delt31:

I have been waiting on it from CT who hasn't sent anything besides the truck pick up. No ship info.

There should be no reason to not have the Ship Tracking Number. It would be fun to track the shipment!

I'm looking forward to playing the game again when everything works. Hopefully Allentown.

#17340 6 years ago
Quoted from delt31:

For those interested in hearing when people are actually going to get the game, latest as of today from CT is that Friday is the day for pick up. No earlier it seems so bumped 3 or 4 days but ship is definitely in so feeling good about Friday. FYI.

Don't forget Road Trip Pix!

#17481 6 years ago
Quoted from delt31:

On my way back.

Do they REALLY have to write DO NOT DROP on the carton?? Then why not stencil OK TO DROP on some??

#17665 6 years ago

So, as of now we have to monitor the possible problems right out of the box. (needing to bend metal, light problems, no instructions. etc) And then fix the "Broken Tail Facehugger" situation. With so many modders here, it should be no problem. Glad to see the Xeno Head working good. Can't wait to see more unboxings....

Yes, I’m in for a L/E and seeing some of these posts here make me wonder if the pin is still in beta/testing.

#17757 6 years ago
Quoted from delt31:

When I close coin door, they shut off. Also upon power up, the LED strips go FULL power for a split second and then turn off.

#17759 6 years ago
Quoted from Chalkey:

Unfortunately the only evidence we have points to them not having enough cash to right the ship. I hope I get proven wrong in the next few months.

Yeah....they just don't understand that if they had better communication, fixed the problems, made refunds and sent out parts....the orders would be flooding in....JMO

#17761 6 years ago

#17811 6 years ago
Quoted from Ferret:

Hi there. Do you have any better connection to the new owners? Can you get word to them that they're screwing up big time by not communicating with their customers and potential customers?

#17837 6 years ago
Quoted from Indypin:

and on the outside was a small note stating something about "before you power up the machine, be sure to replace these fuses

Holy shit! Nobody mentioned this! Delt!!

#17892 6 years ago
Quoted from jonesjb:

Are these issues design issues, parts quality issues, or manufacturing line issues putting the pin together?

I think they're just cranking them out and shipping. Probably no QC. They gotta get that money flowing. Hopefully nothing too bad will crop up....

#17935 6 years ago
Quoted from Wickerman2:

RAMP UP PRODUCTION guys.

Yes, this and Ramp Up Quality Control. It seems everyone has had some kind of problem right out of the box.

#17958 6 years ago
Quoted from Lame33:

Maybe this is the real turning point for Heighway.

The turning point for Heighway is when they issue all the requested refunds, get people the service and parts they were promised and communicate better.

#18161 6 years ago
Quoted from Ferret:

The shaker may be connected the wrong way round on the power supply. As you look at the power supply from the coin door the red cable of the connector should be left and the black on the right side. If it is the other way round the game will reset when the shaker is active.

Has this worked for anyone?

Quoted from hank527:

I can say I am beyond dissatisfied and quite upset that people are not supporting us to get our refunds.

There are totally people here supporting you, and all who want it, to get their refunds. The no communication is bullshit and so far EVERY machine out of the box has had problems from simple to complex. They should be updating people every week. They should be getting parts for people waiting. I really wanted this machine...but not like this!

#18380 6 years ago
Quoted from Davidus56:

Yes. This would be a labor of love. Very difficult to make a profitable business. But, if you control costs with low overhead and use programmers who are willing to develop after hours, at a steep discount - perhaps with some equity.... AND you have an awesome design, then you can probably turn a small profit.

Get together with those guys and lets make Forbidden Planet!!

#18382 6 years ago

Oh no....I meant another company. Forbidden Pinball.

#18405 6 years ago

Good to hear the Customer Service is stepping up! Now, they just have to ramp up QC!

#18413 6 years ago

#18469 6 years ago
Quoted from delt31:

I received the new screen in less than 3 days which was great to see.

Excellent! So, is now EVERYTHING working 100% on your machine?

#18504 6 years ago
Quoted from MK6PIN:

I was ( still am) quite happy for delt to get his game. There have been others that have received one, as well...all wins for all of us.

Yes!....let these early people get the bugs worked out. Hopefully Heighway can work out and refine the machine within the next few months....

#18564 6 years ago
Quoted from daudioguy:

Before you ask, I don't know when an update will drop. The devs have to draw a line in the sand and determine when to test and package one up. It will be sooner than later.

Thank YOU for coming here!

#18616 6 years ago
Quoted from SunKing:

Helmut has been busy lately. I just received an email regarding my 'pre-production' game. ...stay tuned.

#18690 6 years ago

BC....just BC....

#18736 6 years ago

I think they were very clear in what they were saying. They were left with few parts to build a number of machines. They need capital to buy parts in BULK to move forward. They will refund with extra cash when it becomes available. It seems they are trying their best, but the bottom line is they need money and I think they realize they will only get that when communication and quality control get better.

Quoted from Whysnow:

That said...just curious, is this really your only game? If so, then I could definitely see this as being a much bigger deal to you and being extra frustrating.

This is bullshit! These games are being rushed and shipped out the door with no Quality Control because they know people are just happy to get them no matter what. Sorry, but there is no excuse for this! (yes, I had tequila!) Dilly Dilly!

Quoted from VividPsychosis:

The ramps on the PF, were absolutely disqusting. They had this sticky substance all over them, they had spots and other grime. I just don't know how else to describe it. Dan spent a good 10 minutes scrubbing and wiping down the ramps with a chemical degreaser and things to get them to a place where they were useable. Additionally they felt really rough and bumpy along the sides. We took some additional time with a cloth and scrubbed them down till it was back to normal.

So that crazy guy was RIGHT??

Ok...so they don't owe him a machine, but there have been games shipped and he wasn't paid!

NOTE: Aurich made it clear....they DO owe him a machine.

#19808 6 years ago
Quoted from spoke:

But I agree announcing a new game now is probably not a smart move, especially if the folks who put their money down at the beginning are still without games (and if guys like Aurich have not been properly compensated).

Hell, people can't even get service for their FT!!

#19850 6 years ago

If they keep this up. (bad word of mouth, bad service, bad QC, bad communication, etc) They will make less than 100 machines and fold!
And. yes, they only have themselves to blame. They could have hit it out of the park with very little effort! Shame.

Quoted from Ive:

I hate to be so down on a UK based pinball company but this is in a tailspin now surely

If so, they only have themselves to blame. People were DYING to support this company. But terrible communication, crappy Quality Control, spotty tech help, lack of refunds, or even a CLEAR plan on when people would get a refund or their machine is not helping...

#20391 6 years ago
Quoted from FightNightFZ:

Soo.....what you're all saying is that I shouldn't purchase one of these next week when they're in CT's hands? Let's say the stars align, the LE's are in Melissa's hands, everything is in working order

Well, if you know how to work on machines and like the theme...go for it!

#20395 6 years ago
Quoted from SunKing:

...and for those keeping score - this is a true 'production' ready machine that replaces my pre-production machine I purchased at TPF

Did you return that machine to Cointaker?

#20399 6 years ago
Quoted from SunKing:

Yep - that's it. Went straight from my SUV to Cointaker's truck. It wasn't even worthy of being on the floor for TPF...not a good representation of the game.

Now that I've put a few games into the new production machine on the latest code - it is much more polished - and damn near everything works! I've got a couple lights out, and my magnet is not as 'flingy' as I'd like despite making the menu adjustments. It works, but not as violently as I'd like. Oh - it was cool to see the Xeno actually grab and eat the ball~!

..gotta run for now..

Excellent! You've been through a lot! I hope you enjoy the game. I'm looking forward to playing it again in the future after things are worked out.

Quoted from Durzel:

Funny thing is, HW could dispel all of the skepticism simply by providing photos of the LEs/non-LEs ready to ship, etc. At this point I'd want to see a copy of todays paper in the photo too. Even regular production updates would help, with photos & videos of the processes, etc. Would cost them nothing, and give customers new and old alike confidence that they're actually doing things behind closed doors. Right now radio silence in between Nigerian-prince-scam looking emails does the opposite.

They could end all the rumors, bad feelings, etc with a quick note here every 2 weeks or so. There is only one reason they're not doing that....

#20550 6 years ago
Quoted from Travish:

Well, maybe this...... Most people know they are getting machines that will probably have some kind of trouble. CT can tell Heighway they will take the machines COD. They can also tell their customers they take machines "as is"..... Just a thought....

#20811 5 years ago

I don't think the majority of Alien customers would be ready for this.

I only meant that maybe some people would want the game bad enough to take it as is. I'm sure CT could sell the games with problems to someone who would love to work on it. Just a thought...er, I guess not a good one....

I really hope something can be done for customers with money tied up over there.

Yes, of course....but don't know about their laws there. I hope people get something....

Quoted from Ferret:

Heh, I'm the exact opposite of you. I make double sure that I love a game, buy a good copy of it, and then never sell it...

At any rate, I'm glad you've loved the game!

Will you hang around and continue on?

Is it possible to find out where Slyway bought boards and parts and just buy from them?

#21249 5 years ago
Quoted from BD_Designs:

It truly sucks and I am quite sure some of the employees would have gladly spoken up about the problems they were seeing had Andrew not been such a sleazebag and threatened his own people with lawsuits.

Some employees were spoken to. Chris spoke to one. I tried to do as much homework as possible. All the warning signs were published here including employees leaving because they were not paid, changing factories because they weren't being paid, vendors not being paid, Dennis not being paid, etc.
When these things were mentioned, people were jumped on.

people going nuts over them.

Yeah, including me. Going nuts because the Xeno head was disconnected and the ball took 6 times to come out of the VUK. It played like shit, both times I played it.

She doesn't have much else in quotes or action that would really enhance the game, IMHO.

Ferret...I forgot...did you get paid?

Quoted from Aurich:

All I can say is as far as I know Fox said we couldn't use her without her permission,

I think plain and simple, it just came down to money....

#21776 5 years ago
Quoted from Aurich:

ask her about the Alien pinball you'll get a blank look and she won't know what you're talking about.

Oh I totally believe that. Andrew probably just spoke to an agent, got a figure and said, "Ahhh, we don't need her anyway!"

#21778 5 years ago
Quoted from Jvspin:

I wonder if she would be offended if she came across the machine and discovered she wasn't in it.

Little chance of that happening now.

Don't know if she likes pinball. Met her once, nice lady. For her, it would just be a job. Ask about rights, if ok, pay fee, use her image and/or voice. Happens all the time...

I don't, but I do have one of the 28" limited edition LE Backglass posters from Brian Allen.

be tech savvy if you buy one. Some people dont know how to take the glass off their games, or they're too scared to even change a bulb. This is not the game for them.

I’m skeptical as well. Companies rarely take action on items that don’t have a tangible benefit for themselves.

I just bought an Alien pinball.
So a few questions...

- do I have to put some mylar on the playfield? (scoop, magnet,..)
- Is it better to remove te post under the upper right flipper?
- Can I adjust my popbumpers? The doesn't "pop" a lot...
- Can i buy a lock for my backbox?

You have a LOT of reading to do.....

Ripley ends up being the only one who is alive and she has her best lines there. It is just a handful and they would have been great. A significant effort was made offering more money for a handful of line than I've heard of. We could not get past her agent.
