My post wasn't meant to be about future games...it was my concern of future availablty of parts and service....

#14252 2 years ago

I know. My response was about with the success of the Alien title, being what it's expected to be, you shouldn't have to worry about parts availability. So much has been "over engineered" on the Heighway platform with modularity in mind that fixes should be easy. And Alien production is probably going to go on for such a long long time that availability of parts shouldn't be an issue.

Ohhhh ok ... back on then.... man this jumping on and off the ole band wagon is tiring!!!!

Quoted from Yipykya:

Don't let a handful of Debbie Doubters dissuade you, Alien will be an enourmous earner out on route.

I can confirm this. 3 months in and going strong.

I can only imagine once the xeno head is working and the casuals go bonkers for that...
A complete production game will surely do better than our pre production, and the preproduction is still dominating the location.

#14255 2 years ago

Worth a watch for a chuckle and grin.

Well, it kinda helps that you have one of the few in existence...

#14257 2 years ago

Didn't heighway say 2 years ago that he would be making a hundred games a week or something?
He won't be long filling the Alien orders........................

Pull the other one

Not really imho. The majority of our players are regulars and casuals. We saw a small bump in the first month that was likely some travelers, but three months in and steady winner each month means people are playing it over other games.

I was pleasantly surprised with how well alien has done. IT is always a factor when buying a game for route and you need to do the cost beenfit when comparing cost of a stern pro and pay back period. Alien was a good decision thus far. Most new games drop hard after the first month or two. I am excited to see what months 4-6 hold as going into the summer means less pinheads out playing and alien is picking up steam. Hopefully we will have a complete game before summer is over.

Whilst I think Andy is making a mistake not addressing all of the concerns people have, the worst thing buyers can do is start asking for refunds en masse. Surely they taught you about the Wall Street Crash at school?

Most of his money is likely tied up in parts on shelves or waiting to buy parts for new games. Chucking out $6k on refunds every day does not favours in getting this game made. People knew the risk with the pre order model before they paid their money

#14260 2 years ago

its really easy to fix this issue:

Get a list of who placed orders, give them a number in order.

How many machines are being built day by day.

Basic maths to tell everyone a build week for their machine...

Otherwise known as basic communications. There are many things out of your control, communication isn't one of them.

Cheers,
Neil.

No, Jody was their "marketing" guy with the social skills of a bad fart. They hired Jared to run social media, and quickly neutered him rendering much of his value useless.

have you met Jody dood? I met him at expo last year and he was a super nice bloke and looked after me and the wife.

Holy Shit is right! That's exactly what I was about to post. Haha

I took too long though. I kept looking at it wondering if it was a Unicorn or some kind of aberration before my eyes.

See what happens and you dont panic?
Customers who paid in full over a year ago, are, and will be receiving machines in the months ahead.
Everyone relax with the refunds..

Loving the optional dual coin slots you have there.

And who painted all the bolts on the front of your machine?

I'm staying with the LE green trim. Love it!

Thanks for posting these pics. LE's shipping in May! Whoda thought?

#14271 2 years ago

Looks like the wait will indeed be worth it. What a lovely surprise! Congratulations! Is this the first LE Alien in the wild? And in the U.S. no less.

Cirqus why is the backglass so dark?

I have the 32" LCD Backbox so, hence the Darkness

Probably because the limited edition artwork is just placed in front of the large LCD screen option.

Edit: Doh!

It looks like has the model with the hdtv and then just has the translite artwork propped over it. I'm sure it would look way more lit up if you bought the version with the translite installed.

I wasn't sure about what the green would look like, but that looks killer!

LE backglass still makes no sense. The art is covered by the monitor, or go with no monitor at all. Pretty lame.

Does it have the fiber optic ramps? How are they?

Seems like if you choose the 27" you get both backglasses. I don't think most people will cover the 27" up, but you can frame it or something.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Couldn't one say - The monitor still makes no sense. The monitor displaces the art, or go with just periphery art on the back glass. ???

Did this machine not have standard translite and side panels, and black trim when originally posted some days ago?

If machines are being spat out in volume, it would seem unlikely that the first and possibly only LE (presumably minus fibre optics) would be a retro fit package.

#14290 2 years ago

Great to see an LE in a home. Looking forward to getting mine.

Apologies if I undermine your dubious perspectives in this thread but is it possible he purchased more than one?

#14292 2 years ago

Owner had armor powdercoated. Was thinking to do the same for my FTh LE - if that piece of furniture would not be bricked for months now thanks to a broken computing unit. As it is I do not give a rat's ass for my FTh LE anymore, I am frankly fed up with being an owner of a product which receives no support, one that breaks down left and right. The broken computer is just the pinnacle of nothing but disappointment so far.

I have a new computing unit on order with Chris and Melissa, but if even they cannot get pre-paid pinball machines shipped to them, what hope do I have to get a new brain for my broken FTh.....

That sucks

Cointaker getting no info or updates is NOT comforting.

Reminds me of the other nightmare i went through.

#14297 2 years ago
Quoted from toasterman04:

With a new stern honestly you can sleep comfortably knowing parts will always be available.

pfft.. certainly it's the center of the market, but game-specific parts (especially plastics or other game specific parts) are a 'buy it while you can' situation still.

I know you're trying to say a company with a track record and 'future' vs one that could disappear.. but I find the faith in Stern parts a bit dubious.
