For all you LE pre-order's. What do you think will be the actual time frame when the game is delivered to you. My guess at this point would be April, 2017. I'm dying every time I see more released. I'm soooo... hyped!!!

I guess I'm thinking by June. But I've been through five or six machines since I ordered this one, so it is just something that's going to happen sometime. Easiest way to alleviate the anxiety of waiting is to buy others.

I'll be "that guy" and go for sometime after August. That gives me enough time to save the cash for one .

And I am hoping Heighway completely proves me wrong. August is not something I want to be right about.

Too funny....thought I was the only one!!!.....I hope April, but believe June

This is the best beacon I could find. Yeah it's led but with the lens you might not know. I like the shape. And it's 12v so it's easy to power. Plus it's probably an unlimited qty and the price is right. If anyone finds and old school rotating incandescent one for the masses let us know! I've ordered this already and will post up a vid as soon as it arrives.

Well it arrived and is no good. Sure it works and lights up but it's not a realistic replacement. Oh well.

I just keep moving my date back according to what Heighway (unofficially) moves the date back to. So right now I'm sitting at about april as well. From what I can tell they are coming up on 2 months behind schedule for release (from what they said in october/november), and with time required for roll out and shipping and assuming my LE won't be first in line, I think April is a safe bet right now, but I'm honestly leaning more towards May or June as well.

It's a dream theme for me, and I've also traded a few games in this time I've been waiting, so I don't mind the wait, as long as it's done by summer and done right, I can't really complain too hard...I've already been waiting years for it!

I'll be happier to see the kits and standard Aliens flowing soon. That will be a better indicator of when LE's might ship. Once the first batch of 20 Aliens leaves - add four weeks for the first LE's to start shipping (my guess). That is likely when we'll be discussing the ideal ratio of Std/LE's making it off the assembly line.

#10359 2 years ago

I have no problem waiting as I have enough hobbies, interests, and projects to keep me busy.

They'll ship them when they're ready to ship & that's fine with me. We still haven't seen a finalized LE version revealed, with the backglass/cabinet artwork, fiber-optic lighting, airlock screen features implemented, seen the mechanical ball lock in action, etc etc. But I'm sure other LE owners will agree that this theme is worth the wait.

I also don't mind not being first in line either, but with that being said, I really hope my LE arrives sometime before the end of July.

Aprox how many FT's have been sold?

Personally I think the SE's en LE's will ship before the kits will. Especially with the knowledge that a lot of Full Throttle owners will need a new CPU to support the Alien kit.

We have full throttle #2 off the line at The Sanctum and alien kit en route with upgraded CPU slated for Feb.

It seems strange to me how much enthusiasm there is over this title - Highways first game was a big cheap feeling dud, this one is way delayed, has not been completely revealed, it obviously has not been tested since it didn't work half the time at the last show, and it's gonna ship (hopefully)with shallow, early code. I really want you early owners to love your games, but it would be a while before the game could get good with code. I hope I'm wrong & you all love your shiny new toys!

Have you even seen the code thus far? Seems pretty good already and progressing quickly from what it was at expo compared to eag.

full T is the exact opposite of what you describe. IT is actually very solid and the best construction of any new pin I have seen in the past 10 years.

I feel quite comfortable saying that the code is not shallow. Our internal rulesheet is 20 pages long, and it's all implemented, except for a few trivial things. There's lots to do and lots of reasonable strategic choices. I can't guarantee that a high-level player won't find some scoring exploit that I didn't anticipate -- that seems to happen frequently when new games are released -- but if that happens, I'll do my best to normalize it in a code update.

What? A pinball based on this is why theres so much enthusiasm.

I disagree. I think FT is one of the most fun pins to shoot and doesn't feel cheap at all. I love the speed and the layout of the shots. The only issue I have with the game is the right ramp...it seems like it curves a bit early and makes it really hard to hit...not impossible, but hard. I've got maybe 15-20 games total on FT at shows, so maybe if I owned it I would get better at hitting the ramp.

#10375 2 years ago

When i played the FT at Sanctum (4 times in 24 hours) i commented how it might be the best flowing game of all time.

The only real issue i have with it is the ball return (when going through the outside lane) on the left seems to almost forces players to "pass it over", due to the ball speed not allowing a decent shot aim from the left flipper.

Correct Ed. I tell players never try to shoot that feed from hitting the loop just to the right of the right ramp on the fly. It's way too fast. Hold the flipper up and let it float over. I once saw a player manage to hit the orbit a second time off the feed through that lane(like going for warp ramp on ST) and it was so fast that second time it rocketed right past the flipper and hammered into the outhole they had no clue what happened. Was kind of amusing

It might be the best "Geometry" on a game in history. Whether you hit an inside loop, outside loop, ramp, or combination, the ball always flows smoothly (with speed) to one of the flippers.

once you learn it, then it is pretty easy to hit. Aside from that, I have found that a small adjustment to the ramp flap helps immensly.

Realistically, it's only going to take a few minutes to swap out the CPU. I installed the full Bride 2.0 kit, which included yanking boards, adding wiring, swapping speakers and the whole display panel and installing a CPU in under an hour, taking my time.

I think a few minutes is way over estimating. Once the playfield is out for the swap it's 4 connectors plugged into a 6x12 inch box clipped to the bottom of the cabinet. Maybe 30 seconds if you really take your time

Agreed, but there is more to it then just swapping. Is the Full Throttle software compatible with the new CPU? Has to be tested. Also the old FT pins might have an older io board etc.

Testing is already being done on the SE Alien pins. Both for hard and software. I do not expect the focus to be on the kits at the moment.

I've played a fair bit of FT and it's indeed a very smooth flowing game. I don't care for the artwork and I found the gameplay a bit "meh" but no one can knock how it shoots. Very nice. For their first game I think it's pretty good - not a home run, but better than a lot of early Sterns.

Depending on how early you're talking, I would say FT is better than ALL early Sterns. Big Buck Hunter, High Roller Casino, Striker Extreme, Roller Coaster Tycoon...Blech!

Full Throttle is awesome, most early modern Sterns sucked.

Full Throttle will always be hamstrung by "themes sell games". I'm willing to bet Heighway pre-sold more Aliens from his initial announcement (and no game shown) than the entire run of Full Throttle, but as an owner I'll agree that it is a very respectable first effort, and more importantly as an early customer has run reliably.

"themes sell games"

these days people need a commercial tie in for some reason... themes from the past: Mice, Rafting, Magic, Knights, Rollercoasters, Tornadoes...

Motorcycle racing seems mainstream in that light.

Well, yeah, it goes back to how everyone says they want unlicensed games like the good old days, but then you give them one and they say "meh".

#10388 2 years ago

Yeah but the unlicensed games from the past all stayed within the family friendly, bad jokes and happy time feel, and I like that, still I would rather have some original themes with a bit more intensity, no problem with an Alien pin that has nothing to do with the films but AFM isn't the answer, fun pin but for me I prefer Sci Fi horror to cartoons. Just watched this vid on "Dialed In" which looks like a super fun game. Steve Bowden plays it for a while.

(BTW every time you mention Full Throttle on Pinside you get an auto-upvote from me. I could make your mentions of FT a drinking game, but I'd fear for my health )

I'm sure it is...but sadly it includes a cell phone in it which for some reason is the dumbest thing known to mankind even though everyone here stares at them all day and 3/4 of people probably complaining are using a cell phone.

If instead, you were powering up Ironman's dick bulge, people around here would be wiping the novice 2 off their lips.
Instead they just rip on it and go play JM, DM, ACDC, MET which are all just as horrible of a theme.

#10393 2 years ago

Dialed in looks like it was made for preteen girls, I'm sure its fun but no way I would buy a game with a twinkling cell phone on the playfield. Theres a video game called Watch Dogs and while that incorporates a cell phone into the game it does so without being fem and would have made a pretty interesting pinball machine, original themes would be great if someone would make a pinball machine with a great original theme, at least in the 80's they had some cool themes, if they had all the bells and whistles from today pins it would be greatness. I think of Centaur or Fathom, Stargazer etc.

Have you not been paying attention?

It is NOT a cell phone theme!

Yes, the cell phone plays a central role in the game. It rings loudly and annoys the crap out of the player. You need to "answer" it regularly. The artwork on the pin and in the flyer prominently show a cell phone in the main characters hand. The pin is called "Dialed In." BUT IT'S NOT A CELL PHONE THEME DAMMIT!

I think you're all a bunch of crotchety old nerds, I'm pumped for Dialed In AND Alien. If you're not, that's fine, but just because you don't like something doesn't mean you should piss on it in every thread you get a chance to on Pinside. This is an Alien thread, not a Dialed In thread, and despite me being pumped on Dialed In, if you want to talk about that game, go to one of the threads for that game and talk about it there, it has no place in an Alien thread.

Brand recognition and brand association are pushed down everyone's throats these days, named brands take presidence over creativity and originally these days, it sucks but it's true, most probably have the social media and celebrity endorsement/branding to thank for that.

When we see a pin themed on the Kardasians it's when we need to start worrying
