Great video. Looks like swap kits could ship first

#9552 2 years ago

Nice too see! Way too go Andrew and Heighway Pinball. I am pulling for you all the way. This is going to be a great pin. It looks top notch. Looking forward to having this in my collection some day.

Hope you guys enjoy your holidays (shutdown period) because you are gonna be busy after that.

I'm curious, what is the use of this sheet of plastic ?

Enormously thick playfield protector on every LE - confirmed!

That guy in the screen capture you took is in every shot involving playfields and from the little sneak peaks he seems to have a look of genuine care with them.

And product quality is something Andrew & the team seem to be taking very seriously so it wouldn't surprise me if those plastic sheets are nothing more than protective sheets used to cover playfields that are being stored and waiting to be taken onto the line for assembly

As promised, our latest YouTube video shows various production processes during production of Alien Pinball over the last month

So buying one once:

1. I clearly see people getting them in their homes and enjoying them
2. Any "Early bugs" are worked out
3. Most importantly, I have the ca$h and not the credit line ready to buy one.

Prolly looking at next summer for me . It's ok though; it will be worth the wait!

Me too, is that a playfield protector?

And are the flashing lights on the backbox standard? Or is that an LE feature?

Unless its changed and I have missed it, the flashing beacons on the backbox are an LE feature but you can pay to have them as an add on for a Standard Edition of the game.

#9559 2 years ago

that was a great vid !!

#9560 2 years ago

I agree..great vid! But turn up the heat for the boys! I'm sure it would speed up production too

For those of us with a Full Throttle, has Andrew released the price for the Alien drop-in playfield? I remember the early estimates of 60% of the full game price and I have looked at the page for upgrades Beacons, etc) but I haven't seen a firm price for the Alien module yet.

The "Alien Pinball Game Kit" is listed here for $4350

Alien is really looking promising. I plan to get one NIB game within the next year and thought that was going to be Ghostbusters but after all of the QC issues and lack of code updates I'm holding off on the game. The playfield design on Alien really seems unique and loaded up. I also like that the game has a mission based ruleset that incorporates both films (it's a bummer GB didn't do the same with it's modes).

Few questions

1. I noticed in one gameplay video that the ball hangs up / slows down a bit when the left ramp shot is made. Will this same behavior exist in production games or was it due to a pre-production game?

2. Will there be callouts in the game from Sigourney Weaver's character? Same with animations that feature her in it.

3. Does the standard edition include the backbox LCD?

#9570 2 years ago

2. No 3. No

#9571 2 years ago

You are wrong

Std has just a smaller screen, but i would think most will upgrade to the big one.

In answer to your first question, the games shown at Expo from which some/most videos have been made, did have issues with the left ramp. There is an update from Heighway (in this thread) that mentions this issue and that the ramp has now been redesigned to provide more continuous flow.

#9573 2 years ago

I haven't seen gameplay yet, but I've seen the CAD for the left ramp and it's totally redesigned at the top. Looks way smoother. Was definitely an issue on Expo prototypes, needed the fix.

Makes sense. Matts real job is making sex toys.

1, thats been fixed
2, no and I couldn't be happier about it
3, neither edition comes with backbox LCD small or large

I thought the standartd came with the regular (smaller) LCD like on FullT?

Granted, not sure why anyone would not upgrade to the larger one

Nope. And that's not standard equipment on Full Throttle either.

#9579 2 years ago

my bad. I was wrong.

either way, get the big screen! It kicks ass!

#9580 2 years ago

So I just paid in full and I'm officially in line. Anyone have any ideas how many peeps have paid in full yet?

#9582 2 years ago

I paid in full but with the small LCD, just need to upgrade to the 27" and invis/glass, then taxes and shipping which will be ample but who cares this pin is looking great.

#9583 2 years ago

One think that Heighway must improve at my opinion is the follow-up of emails. I never receive answers when I send mails to "official" mailboxes. It's when I send mail directly to Andrew that I receive one but I don't like doing it as I suppose that he has some other things to do.

#9584 2 years ago

A little question, if I order my Alien with the big screen, will I receive the normal translite to be able to move the screen to another machine ?

Quoted from Elwood_BE:

I believe the translite is not included (it was not in my standard edition FT, might be different for a LE version). You can however get it at an additional price (I asked Heighway this question a while back when I ordered my Full Throttle standard edition).

The LE does not come with an LCD in the backbox? The website image shows it's logo on the face of the backbox of the LE. So, I assumed it was an LCD. However, it is not described as having one in the description.

#9590 2 years ago

If you watch a lot of porn and are making Alien eggs for a living. Something's not right, lol.

Optional upgrade. IMHO it should be standard, but that would mean a price increase, Heighway can't just toss it in for free. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Are those optic fibre lightning ramps (Alien LE) the same as the tron LE ramps?
Can you order a 27" backbox LCD screen for an Alien standard edition?

#9596 2 years ago
Quoted from pascal-pinball:

You can judge that here I think. These are the fiber optic ramps on Full Throttle. I do not know if the Alien ones
are the same. You should contact Heighway for that.

Quoted from pascal-pinball:

Yes you can. And you must!

I also would add the beacons, the Blade EL lightning system and non reflective glass

Quoted from pascal-pinball:

as far as I have been told, yes.
alleged... and paraphrased, but you will get the idea

The man that invented/developed fibre optic ramp lighting which was used by Stern in TronLE was then told by Stern"thanks but we have this from here" (i.e. cool, now we are going to reverse engineer it, make it cheap and crappier for the next time we use it, and cut you out if the picture).

That same guy was brought on by Heighway and was the man behind their fibre optic ramps.

* worth mention and somewhat funny is that the next time Stern attempted to use fibre optics was on the proton streams for GB... look how that worked out, lol. Guys could not figure it out properly and they were unable to call the guy that could have worked it out for them.

Q:"Who you gonna call?"
A: not the guy that you screwed over and stole and idea/technology from.

again, all alleged and just a fun story

I asked what manufacturer it was going to be for the non reflective glass and was given this answer below from Heighway like 2 days ago, so don't assume it is PDI, doesn't seem that is confirmed unless someone else knows something different.

"Unfortunately I don’t have any information about the brand of non-reflective glass at the moment because we currently have new supplier for the glass. I will keep you up to date in the near future."

Thanks for he update. It was just in my head, but indeed it is never confirmed by Heighway that they are going to use PDI glass (I will adjust my post accordingly).

Currently we only offer an un-branded non-reflective glass. However, we are about to offer a second alternative - PDI. Anyone who has purchased the non-branded one will also have the option to upgrade to PDI if they wish
