That's a shit ton of wires.

Quoted from dannunz:

looks like they have individual boards for each light? Instead of a larger board for each area with fewer wires going to it you get wires going to each

#7153 7 years ago

bump for actual update ^

What's the UK equivalent to a Ford Taurus?

Quoted from paul_8788:

Quick! Someone drive over there and take a picture through the window!!!!

Can just make out a faint reflection of the playfield on the window. Maybe someone can magnify and enhance.

I though Frolic said there was no soldering of the wires on his Full Throttle?

Looks like there is some going on here.

Full Throttle has only connectors.

Since the modular build and easy to maintain parts is one of Heighways unique selling points I cannot imagine this will change for Alien.

I would agree.....but I saw a solder cleaning ball in the pic....maybe for something other than the wiring.

Ford Mondeo I think

Yes, I guess these are pre-production models. I would expect the production models to have the big PCBs (that would cause a great decrease of wires needed) as in Full Throttle. As also the placement of the I/O boards would be horizontal instead of vertical now.

You saw the tip cleaner, but not the spool of solder nor the soldering iron?

#7163 7 years ago
Quoted from HeighwayPinball:

Here is an update for you.
Alien pre-production builds still going well. One game fully wired underneath and the other half a day behind.

That's the wrong side could you please retake the pic?

#7164 7 years ago

I really don't see how that playfield is going to work. There's a rather large square hole in the middle of the playfield.

#7165 7 years ago

They don't make a Taurus equivalent but it's similar to a Mondeo/Fusion

#7166 7 years ago
Quoted from nephasth:

Correct. That's what I said.

#7167 7 years ago

^ thats funny!

Heighway Pinball machines have more wiring than a Vauxhall Vectra.

Gobble hole. This thing is gonna earn like gangbusters!

This game is going to be amazing

#7171 7 years ago

Prototypes ALWAYS have tons of extra crap on them. It'll all come together.

Anyone have a pic of the undercarriage of a FTH for comparison?

#7172 7 years ago

This guy is getting excited!!!

You are absolutely right.

We use invididual PCBs for switches and LEDs on prototypes and pre-production units. These will always have way more wire than the production units that have switches and LEDs mounted on large PCBs.

There is virtually no soldering on production games. There is some soldering on prototypes and pre production games.

Look how tidy the wiring is on production Full Throttles. This is what you can expect on production Alien machines.

Nice! Keep posting more and more close up shots

#7178 7 years ago

With all the clearcoat and QC problems Stern has now. The release of this game is perfect timing

#7179 7 years ago

What no ghosting. Sorry couldn't resist. I'm even more excited for this game. Keep up the great work.

Somebody other than Stern is getting my NIB money in the next ~6 months. Might actually be some excitement around reveals at expo this year.

Nice to see the insert art has been corrected!

Before and after please

Quoted from PinballRulez:

I think he's referring to the crosshairs inserts being perpendicular with the target faces instead of the playfield edges. I believe that was the case with the original reveal.

#7184 7 years ago

No, arrow inserts were whited out on the first playfield...

Yeah the white arrows was an error in the white layer sent to Mirco. But I did take the suggestion for orienting the weapon targets too.

I like the Chestburster bursting through the insert, nicely done! ^^

Yes, I see it now. This is a picture of the old version. New one looks much better.

It looks like the chestbuster insert has also been changed.

#7192 7 years ago

it appears the top pic is the newer version?

#7193 7 years ago
Quoted from dannunz:

Are all the alians movies good?

Quoted from dannunz:

I just watched Alians 1 last night for the first time in 15 years.

Quoted from dannunz:

Look at the attention to detail Aurich put into the ACDC alternate translight. That is what I am hoping for Alians.

You're not meant to praise Aurich's Alien artwork, it's not cool to do that

Yes, the one Heighway has posted.

#7196 7 years ago

left bullseye insert still doesnt line-up with the green stand-up target like the right one does.

Lines up with the hole. Left target seems to be leaning to the right. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

#7200 7 years ago
Quoted from ZenTron:

Yeah, but that's because the stand-up target is not centered in the playfield hole, the stand-up could be moved a little to the left.
