Hi we just bought an Alice Cooper BSE, it worked from the start and now it lowers volume and starta random crypt multiballs.

Any suggestions?

Done test which all drop targets passed several times.

Cleaned optos.

Thanks

Quoted from rockrand:

Of course check all connections first, and if all good reflow

Thanks for all response, i checked all
even checked optos.
All seemed correct.
So put it back in, same problem.

Then i swapped balls, havent had an issue since that. Played about 5 full games without a problem.

Hi again,
My problems are back with random shoot up of balls.
Random crypt multiball.
Happens even when I just start the ball and let it sit in shooter lane. Then it starts random things skillshots etc.

Any suggestions, I have tried reflowing optos and swapping out. Could someone be kind and take a picture of the opto board where it connects. Incase i misplaced the connections.
Other than that I have no clue how to get this game going again.

Any help would be awesome!

Only time it doesnt happen anything is when opto of crypt is disconnected. So clearly the problem is located around there.

Quoted from rockrand:

Have you tried reflowing the crypt optos?

Yes, tried that + reseating cables. But now it was a few days since trying. So would be grateful for pics on right ramp opto and crypt optos connections on the opto board.

Quoted from rotordave:

Swap that optos switch board with another switch board the same. From memory there is another switch board right above the one that those optos run to.
Then check that the problem remains with those optos (and hasn’t moved to other switches with the original switch board)
I have seen one of those switch boards go flaky. Easy to check (takes a couple of minutes to swap around boards) and if the board is the problem, saves you hours of chasing faults.

Thanks for the tip, tried it. Problem stays the same. Anyone know what opto article/serial number they use?
Tried 14231 but those dont work at all instead it seems.

Would love if some1 could take a picture on optobord for crypt and solderjoint(cable colour) for crypt opto.

Thanks!

Quoted from rotordave:

These ones. One is a sender, one is a receiver.

You could always swap a set from somewhere else and see how you go.

Thanks!
Will try!

Working now! was bad optos or dirty optos , now im just trying to figure out why everyone else magnets seem to fling balls from the magnetic ball save and ours dont.
Tried both with "low magnetic" balls and shiny ones.
Also installed double plastic magnet protectors.
Tried all patterns and turning on off magnet resistor.

Any ideas?

Hello can someone send me a pic close up on both drop targets mech for crypt mulitball? Much appreciated, still have issues with it

Quoted from Skippy2904:

What sort of issues? I had issues with the skill shot falsely registering and targets not resetting at beginning of a new ball.
Let me know if you need more pictures.

Thanks for the pic! Had switches bent from previous owner on drop target mech. Fixed that. So now when ball is over it drops to release locked balls and doesnt give skillshot automatically. Thanks!

Quoted from emtftc:

Will do, have to order a second disc as i wasn't thinking about the upper one. Thanks for the help!

Also see spookys video on the magnets. There is a gold plated resistor I believe on early games. That you now can bypass for the magna save. Solved our issue with it.
Hope you solve it!
