YaY...just got my very own ACNC.
Couple of queries, if anyone could advise please.
1/ how do I know which No. machine I have?
2/ Ball seems to fly over the teardrop on guillotine. Best way to slow it down?
3/ (most important) how do I adjust the magnisave? It grabs the ball. Wobbles it a bit, then releases it. Shouldn't propel it on to the playfield? I know it has the plastic protector fitted, could this affect its workings? I read an earlier post (from SpookyLuke[?]) about adjusting the magnetic pole? Anyone any advice/experience?

Thanks
D

#7595 1 year ago

Thanks, I'll have a look at serial No.

Re the guillotine- the trap is already low. I think the problem is the ball just is travelling too fast. Might try and put something to slow it down.

I've tried the different settings for the magnisave ( from what I read, it just changes how soon the magnet pulses. It seems as if the magnet isn't strong enough- wondered if it was because of the protector on it, or even if balls aren't attracted enough i.e. maybe 3rd party balls?

Quoted from Silkenone:

I did this. Easy job and magnasave never failed me since.

Thanks will check and try. I'll let you know how I get on

Didn't have any at home so have ordered some. Thanks for tip.

Did this nifty little adjustment, and worked a treat. Thanks for sharing. The magnisave once again works!
What's the 2nd magnet do at the rear?

Hi, I suddenly seem to be having trouble with the first drop down target.
It's just suddenly started constantly going up and down while I'm playing.
I've have a visual (under playfield) and tested by hand as well as via the test menu, and it seems to work OK. But when I now start a game, even before I launch my ball, the drop target is constantly dropping and raising?
Any ideas?

#7636 1 year ago
Quoted from Coyote:

Is it trying to raise up and not sticking in the 'uo' position, or is the game raising it, then activating the release to drop it?

I would say it was the game, only because in test mode it works fine.

#7638 1 year ago
Quoted from Coyote:

Then likely the opto right behind the drop target is failing, or sending an intermittent signal, making the game believe a ball's back there when it's not. Go into switch test and see f it reports anything with some vibration in the game (like, try rolling the ball around, etc.)

Aah, makes sense. Just before, there was an air ball that knocked the flasher dome from upper leve and really wedged lt down there. Wonder if a bit of debris or if sensor got knocked. Will check after work

OK, checked (and cleaned) sensor. Started new game, OK at first, then started doing it again. Thinking it has something to do when certain modes are active, and it's possibly confused. Also noticed the guillotine doesn't seem to be doing anything! I installed the new software few days ago. Wonder if either corrupt or coding error .
Will try and reinstall.
Only other thing is the resistors I've now bypassed. Would that foul things up?

#7652 1 year ago

If I remember correctly, my upper flipper is set st 20/21. Previously it was too strong and was knocking the flasher cap off!!

#7653 1 year ago

Re the issue I was having with the stand up lock target ( constantly going up and down). Fixed it.
The problem stemmed from when I removed the anti air ball cover at the top of the ramp to add the velcro to slow the ball down. Appears the screws were also holding an optic for the ramp. When I replaced the plastic, opto was at a cheeky angle! Rectified and all seems OK now.

#7654 1 year ago

Also, I addition to my earlier query. My model No. is 338!
Thanks again to all that helped with my various queries.

Hi, I've a slight issue, if anyone could advise please.
The left VUK and flipper aren't working.
Worked OK when I turned off previously.
I've checked the connections on the power distribution board (orange/black wire?) all OK.
I've gone in to the menu and tested these coils but nothing happens - others seem OK.
I've tested all the fuses and connectors in the backbox - all OK.
Game starts up OK, just coils on left not working.

Any ideas or clues where to further look?

#7679 1 year ago

Coyote - before I tried I moved 48v connectors about, and the proble, seems to have shifted from left flipper to right flipper, so I'm guessing possibly loose connection on power board?

ghostbc - it's right flipper now!! Can't spot issue with grounding.
I did recheck fuses, and somewhere along the line, the fuse had blown on the shaker and knocker. Now replaced and working.

Just right sling, right flipper, auto plunge not working now.

How reliable are the power boards - does anyone have a schematic for it (thinking if bad connector then utilising 1 of the 2 free sockets )

Quoted from CaptainNeo:

shaker motors loosen everything up. that's why you don't really want them on every game. Shakes everything loose.

The shaker on my Roadshow is insane. You can heard it (and feel it) rooms away!!

I did notice on the code update, the motor is more subdued.

#7683 1 year ago

Oh the fun gets funner!
Whilst investing the coil problem, I mis-plugged 1 of the connectors back in...and got a fire on the chip.
1/ Is it the same chip for both boards?
2/ would you put new chip in or replace whole board?

Good news is, I think it is only an $85 board. Correct me gentlemen if I am wrong.

Yes + $61 postage though
I'm taking board to specialist to see if it can be repaired first.

RIP the board is toast

New one ordered, along with new power board.

Would have loved to have joined in, but whilst I was waiting on replacement board, I've taken all the metal off to be powdercoated.
3 weeks now without Alice...missing it

#7712 1 year ago

Not a great choice, so went for a darkish purple (similar to side art) with flex/glitter.
Will post a pick when done!

#7714 1 year ago

Had metal work back. I for one, am pretty pleased with it

I also added the lane protector from Pindefender (Pinhead Mods).(https://pinside.com/pinball/biz/directory/2178-pinhead-mods)
Really easy to fit and looks and works beautifully

Added a mod that I haven’t seen for Alice Cooper. Always thought it needed a Tesla Coil and found the Mezel Mods Tesla Coil for Monster bash can easily be configured to work in the game. Easy install, just required modifying the 12V connector under the upper playfield. I’m sure there are many ways to mod it, pictures are listed with how the mod looks in the game.

I like what you've done with the tesla coil, good idea. How did you attach coil physically to game, and how did you attach to wiring, couldn't make out on pics. - Connected the flashers or FRANKENSTEIN coil etc?

Crazysurfkid and I have been chatting about pinstadiums. Here's a video of cycling through the colors:
I tried turning them off every every color change so you can get an idea for what they add to the game. I'm a big fan of these! Light blue is my fav.
If you like the flipper bats they are up on the marketplace too.

Flipper bats AND lane protectors! (easy fit, took minutes. Protects the game and looks good)

So I've been on holiday for a month - came back absolutely desperate to play my pins (and I really mean desperate, I might have to see someone about that LOL) - and what do you think I fired up first? Yep ACNC!
Such a great game.

Totally agree. It's when you wake up and you've got the the music in my head that it starts to get annoying

Thanks for this, and 10/10 for documenting it so well.

#7753 1 year ago

Added the Mezal Tesla mod (as suggested in an earlier post). Personally, I think it looks good and suits the game. At the moment it's permanently lit.ideally I'd have liked it flashing (or flashing on the Frankenstein mode). Any suggestions on how to do that?

I'm toying with putting a couple of mods on ACNC - both of which require 5v .
Can these be powered by the USB, or is there a better power source I can use?

After having the misfortune of blowing my ACNC up on the 1st Jan, and since getting the new board, I've been spoiling her with various mods and upgrades.

The tesla tower was...great.
The new powder coating was ...brilliant.
UV lighting...important.
However the last bits I got, have simply elevated above and beyond.

First was the pindefender lane protector from Pinhead Mods. A MUST if you want to protect the shooter Lane. I got the green for ACNC. (I also got green for TMNT and blue for Gilligans.)
Easy- peesey to fit (and remove if wanted to)
Also from Pinhead Mods, I got some flipper toppers. Several designs. I went with the spider one. Both of these really "pop" If you have UV lights. Both look amazing. Both are PLA printed.

The 2nd mod, was for the speaker panel. Admittedly I was a little apprehensive, but when I say it was incredibly easy - it really was, in part due to the quality vinyl used (don't think cheap window graphics, think uber breathable easy apply with nil bubbles!!)
The difference between the original black panel and the decal is night and day.
This was from Pinball Nerd Decals (think there are other designs for other machines available)
I've put the link to both suppliers here for easy reference, and of course a few pics to back up my BOLD statements!
As I'm UK based, I checked both were OK for shipping, and both were really helpful and accommodating- highly recommended
Definitely best money spent so far on ACNC

Quoted from thomas49:

What do you think of those drummers?
Is it easy to install?
Thank you

I ordered a set. Not quiet as easy to fit as I thought, as had to undo the whole flipper assembly from the table as there are 3 nuts for the bushings.
They also recommend adding a drop of 3-in-1 oil, so make sure you have some if not.

Definitely more power, and they look pretty good. As mentioned, another attraction is being able to adjust the flipper angle from the top.

See post #7804

That's my machine. Link on the above post. Also check out the lane protector from same shop.
If you haven't already, there is a great speaker decal to get also.

Enjoy.
