Since the stolen machine crossed state lines, I would bet that the FBI will be called in. That being said, you can bet that someone will be investigating the shippers, the shipping company, the "pawn shop" and the guys that purchased the stolen machine. All that might take some time, as there are plenty of people to ask a lot of probing questions to by law enforcement. Like, how much more stuff was stolen? How much more stolen merchandise has the pawn shop purchased and who was that other merchandise stolen from? Who bought the other stolen merchandise and where is it now? Did the resellers know that the merchandise was stolen also and how many times have they done that in the past? They might even contact buyers that potentially bought stolen merchandise at the pawn shop, with no idea that it was stolen at the time. Lots of blame to go around. Lets call that police work, now that law enforcement people have a lead.

Seems like the end result is that the "shippers" made off with $300 of the pawn shop's money that is not likely to ever be returned. And the new owner of the machine will likely have to pay again to have the machine shipped out of the police evidence area to his home. That just seems wrong to me on both counts. Someone should be held accountable for theft of stolen property, buying stolen property, or both. But, I guess this is the real world that we live in. Crime pays, like about $300, assuming you don't get caught later on. It is probably a small miracle that ripple was able to identify the machine in the first place. In any event, the new owner will have an interesting story to tell as long as he is in possession of said machine. Probably should write it all down and paste the story somewhere on the machine, assuming he ever actually gets it.

Quoted from fosaisu:

Hard to feel too bad for the pawn shop guys, if they're actually in the business they knew what they were doing and that they purchased stolen goods. They've probably done it 1,000 times and lost $300 bucks once.

I was just more concerned that the thieves actually made off with $300, no matter where it came from. My guess is that they got a lot more than $300 at the pawn shop. The pawn shop people bought a machine that was obviously stolen, so there's that also. I guess my thought is that if the thieves could be apprehended, that $300 could help pay for the cost to ship the machine to the new owner. There must be documentation with Uship and the pawn shop on the money that changed hands from the thieves, so where is the follow up to retrieve that money and other stolen stuff? Surely this is not the end of the story.

Quoted from woody76:

Amazing how worthless the police are in this matter. Unbelievable.

At least the police backed up Ripple and made sure that the machine got directed to the rightful owner.
They also have some new suspects to watch for fencing stolen items in their area when they want to.
Karma could always come back around at some point when they do something really obvious.

Quoted from tigzzz:

Success! The happy ending is complete and the pinball that took a detour of thousands of miles has come home. That is the police evidence report in the picture. The game seems to be perfect and no worse for the wear.

Man that machine looks great to be a stolen item.
I would scan in that police report so the document is never lost if I was you.
That should be a like a part of the history of that machine now.
Might even be fingerprints on it somewhere from the thieves if you haven't wiped it down already.
