Let me preface this by saying I'm a newbie - just learn about EM maintenance & repair, so please dumb down any responses. (I do have the schematic for this game)

I bought this game a couple months ago - my first. It's in pretty decent shape, no major issues. Except for one: double bonus. I noticed the machine was only giving me 1.5 times the bonus amount. So if I have bonus maxed at 15,000 and have double bonus, it only gives me 22,000 points, rather than 30,000. If I have 10,000 bonus, double bonus gives me 15,000 points rather than 20,000.

When I noticed this, I started paying attention to how it was counting down bonus. And it chimed: ding..ding-ding...ding...ding-ding...ding...ding-ding... all the way down. In other words, it was giving me double bonus every other time as it counted down. Then, the other night, on one random ball, I noticed a different sound: ding-ding...ding-ding...ding-ding...ding-ding...ding-ding... all the way down until it got to 1,000 and then it gave me a single ding (and a single 1,000). The next ball, it was back to giving me double bonus every other time as it counted down (or 1.5x bonus).

Anyone ever have this issue before? Suggested solutions?

Thanks!

Sounds like the motor switch that controls double bonus is slightly out of adjustment.
To be any more specific I'll need to see a high quality scan of the schematic from e.g. Staples ($2) or Kinkos ($6)

Look at bottom right of the schematic. See the 1000 point relay and the five circles below it (2D scm through 7a scm). Those are switches on the score motor. Look at the score motor diagram in the upper left (two Zs). See how the 2 row has 5 in a row, and the 3-7 each only have 1 per row.

When C and D relays are both off, the 2D switch pulses 5x for the single bonus, when C and D are on, the connection for 2D is cut and instead 3D, 4A, 6A, and 7A let pulses through. Note switch stack 5 is missing, that's why you get the ... between the double dings. So one of those four switches isn't making contact and needs to be cleaned. (the letter is which switch in the stack it is, with A at the bottom)

Finally got around to checking this out - and you were absolutely correct, Zacaj! I cleaned those switches and double bonus working perfectly. Thanks!
