Go with belt driven and oiled pistons. more than 30-60% less noise. as for brand, im not too partial, i have had PUMA 5 years now and it's just fine. youll need a dedicated 15 amp circuit for 20 gallon. Not sure if you have any of those country supply/ rancher stores up that way, if so try looking there. The big box stores do not carry these type units any longer (at least around here). They choose to carry the noiser 300psi tanks with the teflon pistons. try a compressor store as well. And take care if putting outside in winter, they can ice up and break things.

agree, there are definitely some brands and places to avoid. A lot of the compressors like Dewalt are made by rand ingersol (I think), so you may want to research who manufactures what. I would Be careful on craigslist, you wont be able to tell often if a tank is rusted out or badly maintained. that said, you could find a great deal there.
