I’m probably the bottom of the LE list; ordered from GRG about two weeks ago. You guys are costing me all sorts of money. In 2 months I’ve ordered five pins.

1. ST premium (found one still NIB) - here
2. MMR - here
3. AFMR LE - Xmas?
4. POTC LE - who knows
5. TNA (I’m #204) - late spring 2018

Thankfully my wife grew up with a pinball machine and is also enjoying our new hobby, but I haven’t yet told her about #4-5.

I ordered from GRG back in April and haven’t gotten mine yet. Haven’t seen anyone form GRG post yet that they received so they must be later on the list or something.

Glad you were able to get in at least, I thought all LE spots were taken.

I played it at the Chicago Pinball show... the big screen is crazy!

I know they had a long list. I wanted the black trim and they had to create a spreadsheet to figure out if they had any left. I took the last one.

I ordered mine (Martian Green) at the end of August. I heard that Chicago Gaming went back into AFM LE production on 11/13 and should make 10 to 15 a day once they get rolling. Of course...there are a lot of dealers out there and a lot of people on the list...hoping for Christmas or New Years, but that hope is just based on optimism LOL. This is my first brand new pin...so I am more than excited.

A couple of us got calls from GRG today and are receiving our machines early next week

Make sure when you give Thanks on Thanksgiving, give Thanks for delivery before Thanksgiving. Great timing, have fun.

#607 6 years ago

haha, oh i'll be playing all next week once it shows up

Hello all. Im sure this has been asked but heres goes. I may have an opportunity to buy a friends afmrpro with color dmd upgrade. Thoughts on the pro vs le and special . Minty new with a savings of over 800plus . Or.......again apologies....huo tspp. Decisions of a pinball addict. Cheerz

#609 6 years ago

AFM is back in the house! Well, garage at least. I'll have someone over tomorrow to help me get this in my basement. 12 steps ugh! (I'm in the market for an Escalara.) Sadly, I'll have to wait for my best pinball friend to come over before I open it.

Was outside the house when the FedEx truck arrived. The box survived the trip across the country in great shape.

The excitement builds!

I'd definitely buy AFM before TSPP and if your friend already took the depreciation hit for opening the box then all the better for you. I just bought an MMR second hand and saved a few sheckels myself.

#611 6 years ago

Grats to the new owners and new soon to be owners...exciting! Mine will be going in the living room when it gets here.

#612 6 years ago

Ya know Ozzy...really the answer is what do you want? This AFMR LE is my first new pin and AFM has always been a favorite. I played the SE at Ca Extreme and fell in love with it and new it would be my first new pin. I felt the extra $ was worth it for me...might not be for you. TSPP is a really fun game. I prefer AFM but again...that’s just me. Weigh it out and get what makes YOU happy.

Got some more pics of AFMr le 446 unboxed. I’m quite impressed with the game, ill need to get it leveled. Everyone at Chicago gaming did a phenomenal job with bringing this game back. The upgraded display and animations are terrific.

So is AFMr the better buying option over MMr?

Is you could have only one, which would be your choice and why?

I have both and I think you get more for your money with AFMr but I like playing MMR better.

I have both as well. MMr is HARD to beat. Not sure if AFMr will grow over time. It's a good game, but i'm not sure I'd put it above MMr. Alot more humor and "fun" in MMr, but it's a later game though too.

Anyone know if the backbox width of AFMR is the same as MMR? The door into my basement is just wide enough for MMR but isn’t for JJP wide bodies.

Yes, both less than 29"

It's the same, and in the insane event it wasn't it's a piece of cake to remove the head, there's maybe 6 connectors to unplug. Signed, guy with an even smaller basement door

WOZ, Hobbit, MMR, AFMR, 28 and 5/8ths inches wide. Williams DMD back box 28 and 11/16ths inches wide ( wide body or regular body ).

I just measured all of them.

Thanks for all the replies. My 2015 WOZ backbox is wider than MMR. I needed millimeters more to get it through.

I watched some gameplay videos and it looks like that the martians move other then the original.
It seems that the original martians Jump faster and higher. Can anyone confirm this ?

#628 6 years ago

The Martian action is a setting. Off-Light-Medium-Strong. Not sure how these equate to the original. I have mine set to Medium.

#629 6 years ago

Ah, ok. Thanks

#630 6 years ago

I see tons of green LEs out there! Personally, I am going green myself...I do wonder how rare the black models will be throughout the production however.

Strong is rather... loud

Correct, wife and I noticed this as well. Actually the jumping martians was pretty much my wife's favorite part of the game.. lol. We ended up setting ours to strong which is closer to how we remembered it on the original. It is a tad loud but they really wave their little arms around like crazy, it is pretty hilarious.

Don't worry about that as it will never be rare.
Anyone can make black rails for the game.

Anyone can make the green too, the powder color was in one of the threads . True indication of LE is the plate, different LED's and topper (maybe other stuff i'm forgetting). Hopefully no one with a LE is dumb enough to sell the topper even if they can't use it.

#635 6 years ago

Placed my order with GRG on 10/11/2017 and it shipped today (12/1).

Ordered mine in black because I like it better than the green. Nothing to do with rarity just preference.

My topper is staying in the box for the foreseeable future. Where the games are at there isnt much height available without them sticking out.

Hopefully you can get it to a higher ceiling area in the near future.
The topper is simply stunning.
Not sure I could stand knowing it was in a box near by.

Some people have done rediculous things to get that topper on and working!

Herm, low ceiling here too! I disabled the Martian action in settings and noticed you can actually cycle the position of Martian to come to rest at the bottom-most point in its up-down cycle. I then dropped the topper backboard down by ~1in. Everything fits just perfectly now. I still get the awesome lightshow! Much better than sitting in the box!

End result for me: Marian stands 8 3/4" above the backbox, backboard is just a tad lower . Gives me a solid 1/2" clearance. Whew!

Its funny Mark on how you really cant tell between our two pics that I cut the hole!

Wow great thread! cant wait to share when mine arrives new to pinside! Just wondering for those of you unboxing that have that cool metal contraption underneath....that seems to be a lift /dolly. Where do you get those? I would like to get one...I just bought NIB my first four pins ( all come in next week at the same time) and while they are being installed white Glove service by P1...I thought I should probably get one of those to move them around if I ever need to. How often do you guys move your pin...or is the dolly really just for arrival, install and setup..

Also curious if there is anything complicated to installing the topper...I was told they do not do that... and that I have to install the topper myself...2 weeks till my LE Black shows up...Thanks for your help! I'll be sure to post my unboxing hopefully no snow!

#643 6 years ago

Topper, piece of cake. Just a little coordination needed to get the topper in position and get the short wire harness and connectors thru the hole. A little extra tricky with only 1/2 inch clearance w ceiling (see above ).

Harbor Freight lift table. Comes around on sale frequently.

https://m.harborfreight.com/500-lb-capacity-hydraulic-table-cart-61405.html?utm_referrer=direct%2Fnot%20provided

Look for the thread to see how folks have modified the thing to work well to.move pinballs.

#644 6 years ago

The manual says you need two people to install the topper. I would recommend it. It is possible to install it by yourself but its not as easy.

I couldn't wait until my friend came over to help. I was able to do it by myself, I just took my time with the wires.
Great topper.

If there are any issues with AFMR twenty years down the road I’ll just phone Doug and buy AFMRRR!

Requis, I posted a unboxing video of an AFMR and showed how to install the topper and the plugs that go into the backbox around the 9:00 minute mark. Its pretty easy but the topper does have quite a few wires attached. Congrats on the purchase of the game.
