I think separate bulbs for each is probably the easiest as well. I think in parallel with the other bulbs the diode would likely drop too much voltage. You could try that with just one light in parallel with a diode inline and see what you have. If it is bright enough you could run them all that way with diode separation. Maybe if both bulbs are LED's.
