I enjoy reading these threads, and I've had one or two I've authored. I'm going to tell the tale of my AFM's journey...
Pulled apart to move upstairs.
Love the look of "my machine barfed up its guts" before the wiring gets reconnected.
Cabinet does look decent for the most part. One side of the head needs to be redone.
SoL wear looks ugly as expected.

Never seen one of these broken!
Trough showing some nice wear (others may call it "seasoning"
And, one of my favorites...the SoL bared for all to see. It, um, well, it was patched with I beleive a layer of bondo or something that was still pliable, and, this is great, rubber cement. When I pulled the cliffy off, it looked like someone taking a bite out of cheese pizza. Stringy.

Keep it up! Looks like it should be a fun build. Nothing like investing your own sweat into a machine. Looking forward to progress.
Having a blast with it...was really great to get those pops in. Now comes the daily wait for the mailman to bring goodies...
Tonight maybe I will wrestle the wiring back onto it....

How do you keep track of whats supposed to go where? I'd have a hell of a time rewiring these.
I think everyone has their own methods, but the handful of times I've done it it's not bad...if you take your time.
My personal tips...
LOTS of pictures. From every angle. Pictures of every connector, fastener, how wires are routed, close up, wide angle...
I label everything with wire labels. Correspond the numbers to the switch or solenoid number in the manual. If things ever get really confusing, it's always nice to be able to see switch #23 and know where it goes.
Honestly though, it's easy. I never believed it when people told me, but the wires really fall back into place for the most part as long as you don't unbundle everything. Lay the harness on the new playfield and they fall pretty close to their correct locations. Time just needs to be spent making sure they aren't too tangled, but it's really not bad. Little intimidating, yea....and I think the first time I did it once I pulled the harness off was my big "Oh crap, what did I just get myself into" moment...but it passed!
Few of wiring harness....
Just started to get it moved into its new home, but 16 hour work days have made time in short supply!

If this is the same machine I almost purchased recently (& I think it is), it's in much better hands than mine!
Thanks...I'm amazed how well this one came out. The only two outstanding things is that one corner of the head had some decals scraped, but was touched up with black. Not easily visible, but I did order a new set of head decals. Not sure if I want to pull the head and go through that whole process for minor scrapes.
And I have a sheet of invisiglass on order
