While checking under the play field of my just acquired Attack From Mars machine I found one loose cable, the 4 pin female connector is just hanging there at the back and I don't see where it needs to be plugged in.

Can someone please help me to identify what the purpose of this cable is and where it needs to be plugged in?

That makes me even more curious, was it for a planned upgrade like a shaker motor or something?

That does not make sense, 4 row wires of the lamp matrix in a plug without a column wire.

Quoted from TheLaw:

Don't over think it....plenty of games have extra harnesses and crap that isn't plugged in.

Never seen that before, I just thought something was wrong, missing or that it might be a opportunity to install a nice mod.

But indeed, these 4 wires are useless. I will just assume they re-used a harness of another game or planned something which was dropped.

Quoted from pinsanity:

From Brian Eddy designer:
"AFM was the most different. It had one big feature that didn't make it into the game. The saucer in the middle of the playfield was originally suppose to move out and around the playfield.
It started (rested) right where the static one on the final game is. It had a telescopic arm that allow the saucer to move out about 18 inches onto the playfield and a pivot that would rotate it right & left.
So it basically could "move" around the whole playfield (hence the open playfield area in the final design).
It also had a target hanging down from the middle of the saucer that you could shoot from
any angle."

I can totally see how that would work. Great quote, mystery solved!
