I just ordered my first machine nib and I know nothing of protectors. Please tell me what I should protect and order of priority. Also are there products for protecting the exterior?(young kids)

You could put some large sheets of cling vinyl on the exterior but the decals are pretty durable and can be safety cleaned with some products. If you are worried that they will scratch it with something hard or use it as a drawing board then cling vinyl would be a good idea.
Cliffy for the kickout, mylar circle for the magnet and pinbit plastic protectors. While you are at it buy some extra post rubbers as they wear out fast on this game. I went with the superband post rubbers that are clear which are lasting really well but they do play a bit different (much more bouncy).
The pinbits protectors is a must with all the airballs. Be advised the one under the warp ramp is a PITA to install.
I have this machine and I am of the opinion that the cliffy kickout and shooter lane protector are all you really need. The magnet protector I put in curled up after a few months but I really believe it is unnecessary. I also have his protectors in the "drain" lanes (down by the flippers) but I believe those are overkill. I would use the superbands on flippers and the posts (if for not other reason than they look great).
